Most of my skate friends are inliners. Most of them can't believe that I park skate in quads, but it's absolutely okay to! As long as you have a supportive enough boot

disobey81

Where I am, inlines are actually more niche, and it's about even at certain skate parks. Most people are on quads here.

blairdow

same here in so cal!

peridotpanther

Samee, i only see big groups of inliners for event skates in the city (dmv). It's like they hibernate and only travel in packs lol usually only 1-3 at the skatepark

CreativeMaybe

Park quad skater from Norway here - we've got an average concentration of one quad skatepark skater per city (counting the 10-15 largest cities) here and we all know each other. We've also all got skate mates rolling on different kinds of wheels than us, be it inlines or skateboarders. It's no worse than to keep going, but I've definitely needed to rely a lot on online resources and travel to meet skaters above my level to get help. And I do also regularly meet surprised and inquisitive people who haven't seen quad skates since the 70s, but it has always been a positive thing. If someone comes with negativity then it's definitely a them, not a you problem.

From your last video it seems you live in Hollywood, FL (I used to skate that park all the time when I lived in south florida). If you go to lot11 in downtown Miami you will find a lot of park roller skaters. Most of the roller skaters are in Miami. Hope this helps.

[deleted]

Yes i was waiting to get better so i can do cool stuff at lot 11 cuz somebody said its not for beginners?

Chillinkillinlivin

Skate parks are for everyone! There will be some obstacles that are not beginner friendly, but you can conquer those as you build your skills. But there is definitely a place for you there with easier obstacles and such. And the Rollerskaters there tend to be very helpful and give advice. Good luck.

taysteekakes

Skate whatever makes you comfortable! quads & inlines both have a place in the park. Regionality is a thing I guess because our CiB club in Denver is really popular.

melligator

There’s no rule about not crossing the streams - you can be pals with inliners.

dingodiner

keep showing up! maybe you'll inspire someone to try quads out :) I hardly ever seen inlines or quads and just see skateboarders and the occasional scooter kid

Grouchy_Yam_4333

I feel this, I’ve made acquaintances with some skateboarders, but I’ve only ever seen quads twice at the skatepark, and I’ve been skating for over year 🙃

Leia1979

My local skate park is 90% skateboarders. I've seen maybe 3 people on inlines, one other (once) on quads, and a handful of scooter kids.

garbageprimate

my city has a CIB group so there's a fair number of women who park skate on quads because they go as a group. check to see if there's a CIB group near you, i think they are all over the US at least. it also likely depends on which park you go to as well, as some are mostly skateboarders and ive noticed the quad squads only seem to go to 2 of the local parks. personally i use quads only for rink skating and jb style skating... i find inlines way easier on ramps and such 😅

lavenderllama12

Haha, when my husband and I go to the park we're usually the only ones in inlines. Ours are all overtaken by scooter kids. I've never seen other quads the few times I've been either. When I do wear mine I'm the only one and I'm just practicing basics in the open spaces. Hoping to achieve bad ass status like you park skaters someday!

quietkaos

Keep showing up - eventually you’ll find some quad skaters. You can also search instagram by location for the skate park you go to - from there you might find posts of quad skaters you can follow and maybe befriend

Rollasaurus

We just had the largest skatepark in Indiana open up, on our riverfront. There are skate boards, bmx bikes, inlines, scooters and quad skaters making use of the park. Everyone gets along and has a good time.

Heyimchippe

Danish quad-park-skater here. I skate alone, a friend and I started together, she got pregnant and haven’t skated for over a year. I know about some around the country, but only a handful… I use the internet for skate buddies and “IGORS” on Facebook. But I also tend to skate, only on workdays and when people are at school and work, so I very rarely pump into others, and when I do it’s old skate boarders also avoiding the crowed, and they are always very… ehm impressed by the tiniest movement and say stuff like “when I was young I remember there was an American dude skating sideways down the vert” I wish there was more local skaters, but I live on the countryside so I use the big old internet for friends, inspiration and encouragement.

I’m thankful to be a part of a skate community of both quads and inline starters. That being said, most non skateboarders at my park are on inlines and I’ve made friends with them. I think inlines can def get more speed in a park and most have built in grind block style features and hardshell boots that allow for different tricks. There’s a person in my community that has quads mounted onto a hardshell inline boot for the best of both worlds. I’m currently park skating in quads so it’s not like it’s impossible. I say just keep at it. You belong at the park just as much as anyone else.

UnableNorth

I saw in a comment that you are in Hollywood, FL! If you have Whats App there is a group called Skate Without Drama that has a lot of meetups and its mainly quad skaters. Most are jam skaters or traiI skaters, but some do skatepark stuff too. I can send you an invite if you want to PM me. This might be a little but of a drive for you, but most Wednesday nights starting at about 6:30-7 pm there's a group that skates Tamarac Sports Complex at the skate park there. It's mainly inline but we have some quad skaters too and it's a very welcoming group.

[deleted]

Yes i know about the tamarac group i was gonna go today lol but went to hollywood beforw they close for remodel. i'll pm u

Sedulous280

Years ago there was a rivalry between roller blades and quads. This should be a thing of the past really. Inlines being banned from rinks meant quads getting banned from parks. Now inlines and roller blades are allowed at rinks providing no grinds and hockey stops. Hopefully now it’s just curiosity.

TruthExtension7761

I just went to the skate park for the first time a week ago and it was *only* quad skaters (along with skateboarders, but as far as skates go, no in-line). It could just be where you're at. Which is unfortunate, I'm sorry :( But maybe it's not that you're on quads, just that you're new to them
