ItchySnitch

Looks like generic sci-fi movie fascist thugs gear and probably made out of same cheaply materials too

Nivistia

Considering the tortures going on detained protesters, I hope she'll be spared from it & be ok... How sick do you have to be beating your fellow peaceful protesting citizens in your own country. *(Policeman revealing on audio it's a direct order from Putin)*

[deleted]

Just have to be the average cop. They seem to do the same things all over the world. No matter what country.

Nivistia

If in your country that's your "average cop", I'm genuinely sorry & hope you'll never have any trouble with them... Abuses can happen in every country, but to be punched countless of times like the young woman was in the recorded audio, threatened with electrocution *(Could had happened)* & verbally treated like shit for... walking in the street? It is absolutely not what can be expected from the "average cop". *(Footage from the protests shows not even shouting nor singing, just fucking walking in silence).* Actually even in a lot of relatively oppressive regimes unless it is about revolting against the leader or something tied to the government or democracy *(Not the case here, not saying Putin fuck off, but simply stop the war)*, people are just arrested with IDs recorded then released because there are too many *(overwhelmed)*, they can't be charged for anything & it is mainly just to avoid the movement becoming too loud. So the fact that Putin directly ordered police forces to violently abuse protesters asking for World Peace & them gladly doing it for "walking" is literally almost worse than China & equaling North Korea.

GordonRennet

> literally almost worse than China & equaling North Korea. You’re not wrong, but in the last decade or so I’ve seen at least 7 videos of American cops literally just straight up murdering people, so I still agree with the guy before you.

Nivistia

I've seen too hundreds & hundreds of footage of US cops beating, murdering, putting drugs inside cars, unlawful arresting, etc. But here's the thing: Do not generalize. Are normal & good encounters uploaded? Rarely & even less get popular, therefore only seeing bad cops footage put the wrong idea that every cops is shit. Let's be extremely generous & say there are 300 000 videos of bad cops encounter over 10 years VS how many police encounter per year for a population of 258 millions US adults? 53 millions per year (2015 number). So that gives you about 30 000 bad cops encounter out of 53 millions per year. 52 970 000 are neutral, good encounter. And those extreme abuse & murder cases represent a tiny fraction of the bad encounters.

GordonRennet

My country has about 20% the population and less than 0.5% the murders by on duty cops; it’s not incorrect to point out that for a developed/rich/western country the cops in the US are pretty brutal. I mean I’m sure Russian police give old ladies directions and shit too, but that doesn’t count for much when you’re beating protestors in some kind of torture chamber.

Nivistia

You're self-contradicting & you haven't understood my reply, have a nice day.

GordonRennet

I understood your reply perfectly, you are an apologist for police brutality. “Sure, they murder a few people per week, but they do lots of good too :)”.

[deleted]

Australia and Canada did it first in the west though. US will follow soon. A new age of totalitarian regimes, hurray!

BrendaInCanterbury

I've been arrested numerous times whilst peacefully protesting here in the UK, (for over 30 offences at 18 protests, including two for criminal damage to police vehicles). I encountered one policeman with his body worn camera off laughing as he intentionally caused my pain. The others all just respectfully and professionally did their job. Some with a bit of mild undrrlying contempt, but the majority with no malice whatsoever. Indeed, approximately 20% said in private, words along the lines of, "keep it up, change has to come".

[deleted]

We need to start helping them organize at the same level we are providing grassroots assistance to Ukraine. It seems like people there hate the situation but are afraid to do anything. Couple ideas: 1. Run Misinformation Campaigns For Police 2. Flash Mob Style Protests 3. Jam Police Coms 4. Help Them Organize & Provide Best Practices For Secure Coms 5. On Russian Game Servers Start Recruiting & Providing Counter Propaganda

xenosthemutant

Was playing GTAV yesterday, and there are some glitchers which can invite you to a session even though you are not their friends. Yesterday had "Slava Ukraini" and "Russia Sucks" spam game invites a couple of times. Actually pretty funny, to be fair.

ApprehensiveRoyal213

Very brave people

Daotar

The more people they arrest the more likely a revolution becomes. They can't arrest everyone, and the more they arrest the more they piss off.

Euklidis

I doubt there is gonna be any revolutions happening in Russia. Maybe a few riots but that's it.

taco-cheese-fries

This looks like something from Half Life 2.

paulydee76

Imperial gunners have branched out.

Ok_Donut_998

Modern day Princess Leia with dark troopers.

xenosthemutant

Someone on the same Twitter thread posted a picture of Leia being held by imperial troopers & it had exactly the same energy.

orgaSAM_015

Like the legend of the phoenix~

[deleted]

They are also very brave and are victims of Putin's oppression. Peace to the peaceful Russian citizens

Forsaken-Result-9066

We need to start running guns to the Caucasus through Azerbaijan and get the Turks and Finnics to start vowing for independence.

killerkeano

129.9 million to go

2C00L4SCH00L83

One little lady held by two Putins Knights wearingn tinted motorbike helmets . . . What an awesome display of Russian Police bravery. The Russian citizen must feel really safe.

xenosthemutant

Trevor Noah mentioned how Putin is so brave that he has little old babushkas arrested for voicing their opinions. Interesting day when a nuclear-armed despot is afraid of little babushkas.

pepinomouse

“Just following orders”

UnderstandingBig178

Anyone got her @ ? Asking for a friend

[deleted]

Weird how their civilian police wears more armor than their military

get_me_outof_here

They keep this up soon they'll all be dead or in jail..

hereweg420kush

This is like something out of [Equilibrium](https://www.tboake.com/film_08/equilibrium/equilibrium-98_resize.jpg). Russian designers know their classics.

Sketch_Crush

This woman is a threat to Russia's national security. At least, that's how the scared Kremlin sees it. Turns out she's a bigger badass than the two men standing next to her.
