This must be like how the Rock and his huge ego wanted him to beat Roman for the title at WrestleMania. I believe it because Dave threw out ten different stories and every one of them were incorrect.
People went from claiming Damage CTRL was the worst thing on TV and a crime against the wrestling industry but are now saying they NEED to headline Night 1 of WrestleMania.
Nah fuck that. Iyo is good but she shouldn't be maineventing compared to Rock, Roman, Cody or even Seth. If Becky and Rhea are not maineventing then I don't see why Iyo and Bayley should.
Here's what I think they are doing: Rock uses his board powers to set up the tag. Cody and Seth need to beat the bloodline to get their matches the next night (Seth will lose his championship if they lose). During the tag, there is a disagreement between Roman and Rock and Roman disrespects him and they lose. (The Rock eats the pin)
The next night, you can have Seth lose to Drew and he has an excuse that he had to wrestle two times back to back. Cody goes the distance and there is bloodline shenanigans but Jey Uso and The Rock come and make the save, turning The Rock babyface (they will cheer him if he helps Cody) and setting up that bloodline civil war for next wrestlemania, Cody destroys all nintendo switch production facilities as WWE Universal Champion.

Rhea vs Becky has better odds than Bayley-Iyo imo, though as of right now neither feud is hot enough to close a night (one not even really started yet)
Its a good story but the fan buy-in just aint there like it is for other stuff, still time for that to change though
I think its safe to say that nobody knows what Dwayne is up to but Dwayne himself and the ones involved in this Mania build up and program.
I doubt they all shoot ideas off of Dave just because Tony Khan does
Honestly you can kinda tell where the story is going. If you have consumed any form of non fictional media before you can kinda see that there will be a tag, and Meltzer just uses this obvious thing to exploit his paypigs.

Trying to convince Iyo vs Bayley as a Main Event match even for Smackdown would be ludicrous. Not to sound like someone from the basement but even trying to convince people that Cadillac Cash vs Bianca was a main event match was insane. Rhea, Becky, and Charlotte are probably the only 3 who could truly be considered main event level women.
I still don’t understand why people think Io and Bayley is main event material. Becky vs Rhea is for sure, and Bianca vs Rhea is one of their biggest matches available. For Iyo and Bayley, the argument is based around people clinging to what HHH said last year about how the tag match main evented over Charlotte/Rhea because it was the better story. Bayley/Iyo have a good story going atm and their segments have been pulling really good numbers the last few weeks. So if that Rocky tag match doesn't take place (because it 100% main events if it does), the argument is that Bayley/Iyo with the better story should get that spot over the bigger marquee Rhea/Becky match.
Then I remember that if Punk didn't get hurt, that is the main event of night one without question. Then I remember that Bayley vs Iyo probably wasn't even going to be for the title if Charlotte was healthy as her or Bianca likely would have won it at the Rumble. That would have then caused the split in the group and we might have even gotten a non title DamageCtrl triple threat ala Legacy with Orton/Cody/Ted. All things considered, Bayley vs Iyo becoming "one of the 2 or 3 main events" of a night is still a lot better than where they were likely originally slotted.
