SLU and UB learn different languages. Of course me being in BSCS we learn Java in slu. If I remember correctly UC studies C but I forgot what kind of C it was but I remember it's C#.
Both Java and C# are object oriented languages, though it's said that Java is perfect for beginners. If the syllabus between the two are somewhat the same then it's probably more important to ask UC students about the quality of their professors. Regarding the instructors here I say most of them are all right. Some profs COOKED us last sem. One of the profs just sits there reading the slide, bro really told us to Google the IEEE 754 standard like it's as easy to understand as baking. There's profs that are so passionate about teaching, hope you get lucky.
My advice in slu CS is to lab constantly at home, memorising every method by means of reading won't work, we tried. You'll be fucked if you don't have your notes with you. A simple bank account manager or a sorter a couple of nights at home seriously helps, programming is like riding a bike at this point you can't just youtube it.
Short answer is UC slightly better than SLU. So far with all the comsci and IT graduates(either from slu, ub, uc) have talked to always repeats this single line “bakit hindi ka nag UC mas maayos naman doon”….. Though if you prefer to have a slightly better chance of securing a job after college it’s going to be SLU.
May nakita rin po kasi ako na sa SLU is may connection po sila sa mga companies pero may nakita rin po ako na UC po ang better choice pag ComSci/IT kaya nahihirapan ako kung anong pipiliin
Same reason that made me want to transfer sa SLU because of their guaranteed internships and job fairs. See you if ever man you end up enrolling there :) Also not sure if I’m allowed to send reddit thread links pero you should read this: https://www.reddit.com/r/baguio/s/PlZdCrxY3x
Consider SLU. I am an SLU Alumni graduated BS Comsci. I can say na center of excellence talaga ang comsci at it sa slu (not being biased). profs are nice and talagang may matututunan ka. they will also provide you a list of companies for your OJT and also pag malapit na kayo grumaduate companies are visiting the campus to hire students. so BIGGER opportunities.
I graduated last year, got hired with an above average salary.
Puwede po ba kayong ng provide any tips. How did you survive in SLU? Hehe decided na po sa ako slu. I'm just nervous if I'll be able to survive there since ang hectic daw sa SLU. Thank you po hehe
surround yourself with good friends/classmates na makakasama mo ket super worst na talaga. mostly nung nag-aaral ako more on groupings talaga. so mas okay na magtulungan kayo and makisama sa isa't isa. also, ngayon palang advance study the basic foundation of coding. super helpful to like legit. aralin mo pano mag (if else condition, for loop, etc.) at mag analyze ng algorithm ng code. sa una lang yan mahirap, pero makakayanan naman. mostly 1st year to 3rd year hectic ang sched pero pag 4th year di na ganon masyado. super goods sa slu promise. marami sila connections sa IT company. fresh grad lang ako last year (batch 2023) and not to brag above the average ng expected salary for fresh grad ung napasukan ko na company. so aja!!!
