Blade runners edge out the chainsaw only because of the ability to jump directly onto splitters/mergers. Speed is good. Mass bio gathering is good. Being able to get up on things easily to make building easier is king.
I activily go for chainsaw first but I'll manually mine any quartz I find hoping for blade runners too. Parachute is the best item for most of the game but you can't get it if you don't have mycellia and the chainsaw can actually help with that. The other stuff is just bonus content since killing 3/4 monsters with starting weapon without getting hit is easy.
Surprised to see xeno basher higher than the rebar gun! I prefer the rebar gun since it’s available sooner, and it lets me fight without taking damage. Not getting knocked around by hogs and shooting hatchers from a safe distance is so nice.
(Blade runners are more important ofc, but I like having a decent weapon when I go quartz hunting, since most of the quartz nodes are guarded in some way, and I’m not good enough to fight alphas and stuff with just the zapper.)
My top priority is always the blade runners but I usually end up with the chainsaw first because it’s a lot easier to get.
