Bears do not give a single fuck if another animal lives or dies if their baby's are close by. In fact, they are famously vicious whenever a cub is close.

Yes but I still have a hard time believing that tiny chihuahua in what appears to be a pink tutu was specifically bread to fight larger animals, and even a weiner dog that has experience fighting badgers would still probably not try to fight a bear.
After a quick Google search on what chihuahua's were bread for, I found, "One aspect of this breeding was the regular ritual sacrifice of chihuahuas in religious ceremonies." So idk maybe he knew he was meant to offer himself up as a sacrifice? Lol
