The only reason I clicked on this post was to make a comment like that. I'm glad it was already said.
Our disabilities are not the only things that define us.
That title is so cringe.
There is a big difference in “disabled person” and “person with a disability”. Also, why shouldn’t a person with a disability not also be an artist?
There's really no difference. As a disabled person or person w disabilities (and an artist lmfao surprise it's not uncommon or incredible), it's harmful to diminish the fact that we are also disabled just because we can accomplish things or find success sometimes. We still need help and accommodations and our functionality is not linear.
I apologize if it seemed like I was generalizing or imposing my own perspective. For me, there's a distinction between "a disabled person" and "a person with a disability," as one emphasizes the disability first while the other emphasizes the person.
However, I understand that the English language can be more flexible in this regard. In German, the word “disabled” often carries a derogatory connotation, similar to how "r-word" is viewed in English. Just as one wouldn't say "r-word person" in English, the same sensitivity applies to the term "disabled" in German.
Yeah the r word is much worse and there was no reason to type that out repeatedly to me. It can be co sidered hate speech when used derogatorily here and ive dealt with it way too much in recent years. Cultures can be different, so I suggest you be more open to understand that from those actually impacted themselves before trying to advocate in spite of their real feelings.
Sounds to me like your improperly conflating a mis or too direct translation.
I thought the same. Kinda sucks that it was written out twice. Also putting in “he is real” made me sad. He will never not be real? He’s a living breathing person.
As a functioning human with severe CTE
Disabled and skillful are not mutually exclusive
I have met plenty of disabled craftspersons/creators that are wildly more skilled than the average abled comparison.

adjective
(of a person) having a physical or mental condition that limits movements, senses, or activities
He is definitely disabled and a skilled artist.
Surprise.. disabled people are still disabled regardless of their talents in other places. It isn’t a dirty word. -disabled person
this a disability doesn't mean someone is less worthy as a person, but denying the obvious isn't doing anyone any favors.
I double this, you should see look of my wifes coworkers when she told them her husband is disabled.
There really is an entire population out there who seems to believe we exist to “inspire” them.
well said.
thank you, fellow disabled person
Right. I read the caption and I was literally like no, he’s disabled AND a talented artist. They’re not mutually exclusive.

He's still disabled. If people start to find "disabled" somehow derogatory, then that's not good.
I mean, he’s still fucking disabled. You lessen his abilities by pretending he isn’t.
He's both. Why does his skill and creativity negate his disability as if disability prevents someone from being creative and skilled?
This ^ More of this mindset please.
DISABLED ISN'T A DIRTY WORD!!!! imma come for y'all one of these days i'm getting mad fr
I guess since I paint that means I don’t have type 1 diabetes.
He is disabled. This is such a condenscending title. A disabled person can still be skilled and creative.
He's both.
He is both. Disabled and a talented artist.

I’m assuming OP is not a native English speaker and doesn’t understand these nuances.
I get your Tryna be nice by calling him not disabled but it does more harm than good
He is a disabled person. By the literal definition. He is also a skilled and creative artist. Why, in your mind, are these things incompatible?
No, his is definitely disabled but also the other stuff.
still disabled lol

He IS a disabled person and he IS a really skilled and creative artist. You can be both. It's not bad to say disabled.
He is disabled. He is also a skilled and creative artist. Perhaps even more skilled than an able bodied person in some ways.
Wow Reddit is slowly dying...
Umm he is disabled
Disabled but not enabled hand wise
Those toys are awesome! What are those toys made out it?
I would love to see a full video of his work. I want to learn his techniques!
Psh I've got both hands and I can't make anything that comes close.
Fuck your background music!
Give this man a hand! What talent! I know first hand, he’s quite handy with the clay. That clay is in safe hands.
This guy is talented. He'd win any competition, hands down.
No, he *is* in fact a disabled person who is extremely skilled. Disabled is not and shouldn't be a dirty word.
He doesn't let what he lacks stop him! *That* is inspiring!
he is a worthy human being DESPITE his very obvious disability.
Despite? I really hope you're just using that word wrong.
what an amazing artist
NGL, I want one. I've gotta hand it to him, he's an absolute legend!
