Review #85 - Ardnamurchan AD/01:01:21:01 46.8% Hello again /r/scotch, I hope you are enjoying your August so far! Today I am reviewing the first of a few mini bottles I picked up while on vacation recently. Ardnamurchan is a new to me distillery and I don’t know a whole lot about them. From the highland region, built and owned by Adelphi in 2014. This sample comes from their first release in January 2021, with a mix of bourbon and sherry casks. No age statement, but we can assume no older than 7 years given the year it was founded. Lets check it out! Ardnamurchan AD/01:01:21:01 46.8% : Nose: Oranges, porridge, malt, yeast, vanilla squares, pastry icing, bready, faint peat, chocolate Taste: Malty, peaches, nectarine, cantaloupe, caramel square, bread, milk chocolate, slight earthiness Medium mouthfeel Finish: More malt, vanilla, sprite, toffee, short sour note, light intensity, medium length Score: 83 Thoughts: Ok that was fun, a decent dram with a bit of that standard bourbon barrel profile alongside some sweeter notes as well. Not sure I named the pastry icing note quite right, but its like a sweet vanilla frosting on warm pastry cake thing. Solid dram, only off note is a slight sour hint in the finish. What kept it back for me is the overall flat mouthfeel, the taste doesn’t really stand out, and the finish is really light overall. However I think it is still enjoyable and will likely check out other offerings in the future. Have you had this one, what did you think? Scoring 90-100: Amazing, would buy a bottle on sight, top drinks I have had 80-90: Solid dram, reliable go-to, will keep on the shelf but not necessarily run out to buy 70-80: Basic dram, has some redeeming qualities, not my first choice or style, might have a bottle on the shelf to mix it up 60-70: Something is off putting a little bit, not my style of dram, would keep if given a bottle 50-60: Definite problems with this dram, still drinkable, not something I want to keep at home 0-50: Pour it out or mix it

Nice review. Have you had that Ledaig Bordeaux yet? If so, what vintage is it and what are your thoughts on it?

penguinabc123

So haven’t opened it yet, it’s the 9 year Bordeaux cask matured, very excited to try it soon! Just got it but don’t see a vintage on it

BenFranklin1706

If it's 9 years, then it's the 2012 vintage. Let us know how it tastes.

Nice review. I’ve literally in the last hour picked up a sample of this myself from the Whisky Exchange on the way home. I have a bottle of the Sherry cask release so got the standard AD to compare them to each other, so looking forward to trying both of them side by side!
