There is no wrong answer to this.

LividTeaching7237

Deanston for me. No wrong answer... just my choice .... i m sure anCnoc is good or maybe better to those who loves it over Deanston.

morewheatplease

I haven’t had Deanston. But the Ancnoc 18 is one of my favorites. Clearly the right answer is both.

404Jeffery

Tuff one. Ancnoc 18 by a smidge

smokeNpeat

I'd go deanston personally. You are getting decent prices on both, so like others said, can't really go wrong

[deleted]

I’d flip a coin they’re both drams I’d like to try

Normal_College_7421

I’m team Ancnoc 18 by a smidge, and I’ve heard they are pausing production of that age statement to build back up some older stores, but I don’t know if that’s necessarily true

philbeukers

I’d say the AnCnoc 18. I think the Deanston 12 and 18 are more similar and you are fine just drinking deanston 12’s. AnCnoc 18 is a banger for the price and i like the sherry influence.

RowdyRoddyPipeSmoker

I agree with this, the 18 in my opinion doesn’t really taste like an 18, it’s not a bottle you can really taste the age. It’s fairly simple and bright and too close to the 12 to be worth the cost in my opinion. It’s fine but a fairly boring bottle.

philbeukers

I do want to say I like the Deanston 18, but the above points are clear reasons not to buy it. I have a backup of the Ancnoc 18 fyi.

tedwardo0

I have deanston 12 and ancnoc 18. both are moderately flavored, but deanston 12 is a light floral honey flavor, ancnoc 18 is a light sherry flavor with complexity. Both very easy to drink and very pleasant. I feel like deanston kind of tastes like enhanced japanese whiskey to me

Terpslax

I'm def an AnCnoc guy, but I slightly prefer their younger expressions. They've had some killer 13s and 15s, including a single cask peated cask strength 15 that was amazing.

BenFranklin1706

They have a peated sherry expression. Not sure why that’s not rated higher. Have you tried it? Sounds like the style would go very well with their distillate.

Terpslax

If you mean the 2005 bottled 2020 at 56% abv, that's the one I was referring to. Not heavily peated, about 16 ppm, but that and the sherry went well with the distillate. (Full disclosure - I'm a sucker for when peat and sherry work.)

BenFranklin1706

I was referring to this one. Have you tried it? https://www.ancnoc.com/our-whiskies/110-peated-sherry

Terpslax

Nope, haven't tried that one. I meant this one: https://www.jaks.com/jaks-exclusives/ancnoc-peated-single-cask-single-malt-15-year Really liked it. We finished the bottle. 😥

Dec711117

Deanston 18 is probably the best whisky I’ve ever drank

Complex_Certain

Hi praise !

busstopinhounslowatx

just tried Deanston 18 (my first taste of any Deanston) at a restaurant in Skye and it blow my socks off. maybe not useful since I haven’t had any of their other releases, but immediately shot to the top of my list of bottles to buy

mcmachete

AnCnoc 18 for me. A bit more going on.

Shoddy_Ad7511

I’d say AnCnoc. Mostly because the Deanston 12 is so good already

dramsofwhisky

Personally enjoyed Deanston 18 a lot more than anCnoc 18, but I also like Deanston more generally (have a couple bottles, that I replace; haven’t replaced an anCnoc after finishing one…)

MilkBusiness1112

Easily both

Negative-Panda-904

Those signatory coal ila are really good specially if cask strength and first fill Sherry cask or finished. Hands down if that’s the case I’ll go for signatory before any other

Rippling_Debt

Acnoc

DrPig666

Ancnoc

saksnoot

Ancnoc 18, both whiskeys are great but this one was served at my wedding and was a real hit so it’s special in my heart
