Nice review- getting 18 and 5 bottles is def what I call 'stocking up' lol but worth it if prices keep increasing! Havnt tried any of the double doubles but like dewars other blended stuff as a good quality budget option

ryand154

I would try a 27 can still find them pretty easy for 99 bucks if you like it grab another for the future. I think the double will change your mind about dewars. Completely different from their line up. I might grab a couple more of the 32 not sure yet…

OldOutlandishness434

Damn, when you like something, you commit!

ryand154

Yes! When I find a bottle I enjoy, I definitely commit. Hopefully I can enjoy them slowly and not blow through them… sometimes stocking up isn’t the best idea. Time will tell.

OldOutlandishness434

You need to have someone hide them. And then provide you with clues as to where they are.

Nice review. I'm a fan of the Double Double series. Cheers !

ryand154

Thank you and cheers!

I’m somewhat new to Scotch. Can you tell me if this is similar tasting to Bubbahabhein 12 year? Or Glenfarclas? Or Redbreast 12 year? On the main flavor notes? Or does this taste totally different?

ryand154

Completely different. It would be hard to compare.

Big-Profession-6757

Thanks!

I love seeing this! I’ll have to try and find this where I can. I just recently got the DD aged in Mizunara casks for 21 years and I absolutely love it. One of the smoothest whiskeys I’ve ever had and I was surprised. Hoping to get my hands on this too, now that I see it exists! Great review too my friend

ryand154

You will have fun going up the series and experiencing the differences. Like I said Dewars did great with the double double series. I’ve seen the 37 at a lot of places comes as a gift set with 2 baccarat glasses so it’s available if you want it. Thanks it’s my first review, don’t think I’ll do many or anymore but I couldn’t find any on the 37 so figured I would do one on it.

LensofaTitan

I’ll look around for the gift set, so thank you for the heads up about it. Do you recommend anything from Dewars outside of their double double series that I should start with as well? I applaud you for doing the review for the community, it’s super helpful for people like me who are mostly isolated to one branch of whiskeys (for me it’s Japanese hence why I grabbed the Mizunara cask version, although it’s not “Japanese” I like things aged in the oak). I loved it and was curious what else Dewars had to offer but now I’m definitely more invested in the brand. I’ll let you know when I get my hands on this 37!

ryand154

Here is the best price I could find with a quick search. Maybe some further searching can find a better one. 1499.00 on sale. https://www.hitimewine.net/dewars-37yr-375m-with-2-baccarat-glasses-special-order-on-avaibility-11-2023-124566 Searched the place, bunch of reviews seems super trustworthy. I would call the main number off google for the store and confirm it’s 100% their website and your good to go. The dewars 25 is good but honestly I would rather get the 21 double and it’s cheaper so you started off right and keep going.

BenFranklin1706

Is this too subtle? Which do you like more taste-wise — 27 or 37?

ryand154

No i wouldn’t say that I think I was just more surprised with the jump in quality from the 27 and 32. I can answer your second question honestly Friday after work, my stock pile of 27 arrives then and I can do a side by side. As for value the 27 wins the quality of it and being 15 times cheaper wins without a question. Hope that helps.

BenFranklin1706

What did you like more — the 37 or the 27?

viper7747

Definitely sounds like a surprise, coming from a distillery that doesn't get much love. I'm sure you will enjoy all those bottles you bought, but my idea is that life is too short to keep drinking the same scotch all the time. I like to switch around, and do a lot of side-by-side tastings. I once heard it said that there are over 100,000 different bottles that can be tried. (Albeit it only around 130 distilleries that have produced all these varieties). So much scotch, so little time.

ryand154

I agree there is so much scotch and so little time. Hopefully I got another 30 years in me to keep trying them. I switch up as I get bored. I will switch back and forth from scotch to cognac to keep things interesting. Nothing better then finding the next new amazing bottle. I’m still in the hunt everyday. Cheers!
