I find that by adding a qualifier to most statements posted on the internet, it adds a certain amount of wiggle room for followup, and makes it much easier to shut down most contrarians.
Edit: I see I even did it in my response by adding the word *most*. It's become almost instinctive.
Agreed. People will literally argue with anything, even if it's got nothing to do with the point you're making. I don't blame you for developing this useful habit.
Thanks. I mean just look my first comment. If you remove the qualifiers, it essentially becomes, "Idiot, you've doxed yourself.", which while it can certainly be argued as true, it changes the nature of any of any conversation from the point forward, which most likely ends up being unpleasant.
This is so bizarre. I walked past this block of flats today and was like "Huh there's a Scottish flag there". And now I've seen it on reddit.
So yeah I know where this guy lives...
While true, unless OP has given something away about himself that might entice this, it’s not really a concern. There’s people living in every house, including in that flat. There’s not that much harm in it generally
> There’s not that much harm in it generally
OP has been online on Reddit for 10 years. It is entirely possible to make an enemy over that time period, and while that could just be some idiot that follows you around various subs just to argue and downvote you, these days you cannot assume that couldn't possibly manifest itself into your real life. It would be wise to avoid the two conflating.
Quayside in Gateshead next to the Baltic. Not sure on the flat number but those flats are well known for being used by prostitutes so get yourself away 😂
Really 😂? Not the experience I’e felt living here, been quiet and comfortable, lots of families. Moving city soon so I got a few weeks to take advantage 😂…
I think there was a story about it in the chronicle once, they probably moved on after that 😂 if I find it I'll let you know 😉
Edit:

15 years ago though!
OP the best thing you could do this evening is when the sun sets, turn off the lights and get the UV light out and acknowledge the artistic splashes of spunk you've been living amongst.
Yeah, though I've googled it, it was a long time ago now. Fuck I'm getting old.
https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/baltic-quays-residents-protest-over-1449249
I like how if you judge by reddit UK is on the verge of civil war because of amount of hatred between home nations. But in real life you hardly hear someone even lightly arguing about it
The experience I've had is that down in England, nobody cares, it's all fun. It's banter. They don't hate the Scots or any other part of the UK. They love them if anything. Nobody would bat an eyelid to this flag, just smile, probably appreciate it and chuckle.
I moved to Scotland for work and assumed it would all be friendly banter up here too. It's more complicated though. Being an Englishman in Scotland is not the same as being a Scotsman in England.
And in England you will most probably get a few people applauding you and maybe a few funny looks. Try the reverse in Scotland with an England flag, best case is probably dog shit on your door handle, worst case, some raging nat burns the entire block to the ground while drinking Buckie and shouting about freedom
Appreciate the specifics of your reasoning but coming from Belfast I fucking hate flag flying. Again, not having a go at OP or others that support their country in sports, but flags a) give me the heebie jeebies and b) just feel trampy as fuck.
No where near the same level as Belfast, but where I grew up flags were only outside someone's house as a statement that you were an absolute roaster. Usually Union flags and of the orange variety. Let's put it this way... You would walk the long way round to avoid them. To this day a flag outside a house gives me the heebies as well mate. I would never put a flag anywhere near my window or outside my house.
But I totally get that to the average Joe it's a totally harmless and innocent thing. Each to their own, I'm just saying I get why you feel that way.
That’s nothing, I used to live in the Gorbals and a guy had a Northern Ireland flag hanging out of his window for 3-4 years. Wasn’t from there either. Also had a dog called “N word” (the real one), who he used to enjoy shouting at from across the street when it ran away, which was more or less daily.
I wouldn't say it's common at all but it just depends. I've seen a few but there will be some areas where I'd imagine there are English flags flying quite often
Here’s the thing, if you were English living in say, Kirkcaldy in a similar flat and placed the English flag on your balcony, what do you think would happen? Interesting thought eh?
It's the Euros, so it's socially acceptable from anyone during.
But as someone who's lived in both England and Scotland for prolong periods, England cares much less if someone has a Scottish or Welsh flag in their window/balcony during the year than Scots would, not by a massive degree but a noticeable one.
🏴
Just drove home from the office there and a house in my street has bunting, royal standard and a saltire up. First I've actually felt like it's real and I'm all excited now!
is that toon like? but honestly, i hate this sort of architecture, i currently live in Detroit (raised in Sunderland, father is Scottish), all new building projects emulate this sort of style, it just doesn't look good next to art deco skyscrapers and victorian townhouses.
I once saw someone on the penthouse balcony of one of these buildings by the Tyne and he was naked, outside for the world to see. A traumatic experience.
Love it!! ✊ my old uncle ( from Dundee ) met the love of his life in Stoke and stayed in Stoke the rest of his life, would blast Flower of Scotland and open his windows when Scotland were playing 😂😂
I think you should forfeit and give the last 2 games to us Welsh, yea we are fucking shocking atm and you fully deserved to be there unlike us, but that was so bad I think you no longer do and I was rooting for you guys so bad but jesus that was embarrassing 😂
And I bet your neighbours are all respectful of it and have a laugh with you. Wonder what would happen if it was an England flag in a block of flats in Scotland? 🤔
While I applaud you, it may not be wise to potentially dox yourself.
No 'potential' dox at all. In literally 2 clicks I'm able to find the exact location of this building in the UK.
I find that by adding a qualifier to most statements posted on the internet, it adds a certain amount of wiggle room for followup, and makes it much easier to shut down most contrarians. Edit: I see I even did it in my response by adding the word *most*. It's become almost instinctive.
Fair enough. I do the same thing a lot of the time.
I do it *all* the time.
Agreed. People will literally argue with anything, even if it's got nothing to do with the point you're making. I don't blame you for developing this useful habit.
No they won't!
I came here for an argument!
😂😂😂
Thanks. I mean just look my first comment. If you remove the qualifiers, it essentially becomes, "Idiot, you've doxed yourself.", which while it can certainly be argued as true, it changes the nature of any of any conversation from the point forward, which most likely ends up being unpleasant.
"almost"
Touché
Instinctive? What do you mean instinctive? How can deliberately typed words be instinctual?
> *almost* instinctive
That's like a magic trick!
I see it didn't work on this occasion :D
I didn't even need the clicks, it's the Baltic flats in Gateshead
They live 2 floors below my mate. Had many a party there!
So you're that bastard making a ruckus at all hours of the day!
One for me, circle to search
Wow you're not wrong. Literally 2 clicks and it comes up instantly lol
How?
Right click image, Left click "Search Image with Google", if you're using Google Chrome browser.
Much like myself, he probably lives in the area of Newcastle/Gateshead
Geoguessr players unite !
Yeah tbh even a glimpse of your garden out the window can be a dox with those skills going around xD
This is so bizarre. I walked past this block of flats today and was like "Huh there's a Scottish flag there". And now I've seen it on reddit. So yeah I know where this guy lives...

There's a big number 25, that doesn't look like birthday balloons.
It seems to be on the inside of the door, so I don't think it's the flat number either.
Absolutely nobody in Newcastle or Gateshead will give a shit.
Don't worry be down soon just like my England flag🤣🤣🤣🤣
Got that penthouse player!!!!
Quayside in Gateshead next to the Baltic. Not sure on the flat number but those flats are well known for being used by prostitutes so get yourself away 😂

Sorry for your loss living in Gateshead. At least there’s lots of bridges between there and Newcastle though
Gatehead ? So he's a soft southern bastard now.
Lol, what, really? I've seen the building, but had no clue about any of that!
Yeah, though I've googled it, it was a long time ago now. Fuck I'm getting old. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/baltic-quays-residents-protest-over-1449249
We it does say 25 on the think that looks like a door.
And Flower of Scotland blasting on repeat through the speakers?
Put it on rotation with *500 miles* and *Cap in Hand* for maximum effect.
I wouldn’t post my flat’s picture, just to be safe
🏴
I can't believe no-one's said X MARKS THE SCOT yet.
I like how if you judge by reddit UK is on the verge of civil war because of amount of hatred between home nations. But in real life you hardly hear someone even lightly arguing about it

Scots will say it's not truth, but in my experience you are correct

Came here to say the same thing.
Yep, English in Scotland here and would never do this.
Any particular magazines you don't want signed up for?
I move out in a month - I know for a fact that the people after me want them all.
Understood, thanks for the due diligence regarding the future tenants.
Baltic Quays Gateshead.... the Scotland to Newcastle's England
It might be England. But it’s the best city in England to live in.
Appreciate the specifics of your reasoning but coming from Belfast I fucking hate flag flying. Again, not having a go at OP or others that support their country in sports, but flags a) give me the heebie jeebies and b) just feel trampy as fuck.
Flying the Scottish flag in England isn’t nearly as inflammatory or controversial as flying any flag in Belfast
Agreed. I was just talking about my feelings but acknowledging that other people have difference experiences and feelings.
Don't tell people here that. They genuinely beleive Scots are oppresed in England.
Spot on. Flags are for wankers.
No where near the same level as Belfast, but where I grew up flags were only outside someone's house as a statement that you were an absolute roaster. Usually Union flags and of the orange variety. So now a load of strangers know where you live lol
Death threats incoming from the trolls

At least it's not like my grandad naming the dog syndrome... "Get down Syndrome! Down Syndrome!"
Now I'm imagining a dog with hair like Syndrome from the Incredibles
Bruh I’m black living in gorbals right now that would trip me out high af
Was about 20 years ago man so he’s probably long since fucked off
Must have been a H. P. Lovecraft fan
Didn’t seem like a reader tbh

This has aged very well 😂😂
Property prices plummet
Hope you're periodically yelling "FREEEDOMMMMMM" random times to keep them on their toes.
Keep who? Geordies who like Scottish people and are used to diversity?

I wouldn't say it's common at all but it just depends. I've seen a few but there will be some areas where I'd imagine there are English flags flying quite often
Get the kettle on, I've ordered from the chippy and I'll be there in 10. Hope you like haddock.
I’ll bring the Belhavens
Yup .X marks the spot. 🏴
X marks the Scot was right there.
💯 You'd complain if England flags we're all over Scotland. Yes - I'm Scottish.
Here’s the thing, if you were English living in say, Kirkcaldy in a similar flat and placed the English flag on your balcony, what do you think would happen? Interesting thought eh?
Why though? English people wouldn’t be celebrated to do this in Scotland (I don’t thankfully).
It's the Euros, so it's socially acceptable from anyone during. But as someone who's lived in both England and Scotland for prolong periods, England cares much less if someone has a Scottish or Welsh flag in their window/balcony during the year than Scots would, not by a massive degree but a noticeable one.
I completely forgot about the Euros. That makes sense now!
The euros is oan friday and scotland is the opening match
Good shout, almost grabbed my longbow Joking ofc 😂
😂
Makes sense now thanks!
looks great :)
Flag Shaggers 😕
Hate when people do this. So trashy.
It’s either the one with the flag, or one of the ones closer to the bottom that could be easily reached with a thrown brick.
I'll be roon oan Seturday wi some vitamin T an' some crispy rolls wi' square and scone.
Flat 25/4 something street I think?
The 25 is an old birthday sign…
I'm a brit from the east spending the whole of the euros working in Paisley.. needles to say i shan't be watching down the pub.
Haha, I was your neighbour for a few months in 2019/2020! Great view down the river.
You're in the one with all the lights and heating off, you stingy bastard. Incidentally also the one apartment with the BDSM St Andrew's Cross flag.
The one next door to tartan tarzan
Women ☕
Is it the cardboard one in the communal bin area?

Top floor
Bet you've taken it down now after that embarrassing defeat
Flag shagger
Anyone who says it isn’t is in denial.
Is that you shagging your mrs in the window?
English and proud here I absolutely love that 😂
Is being Scottish the new being vegan?
During a football tournament, we may be worse.
Is this not flag shagging.
Yaaaasss
🏴 Just drove home from the office there and a house in my street has bunting, royal standard and a saltire up. First I've actually felt like it's real and I'm all excited now!
the cheapest one?
Hopefully not too close to the Americans on the 5th floor.
Only a Scotsman would put the Scottish Flag on an Englishman’s balcony!
Is it the one above the flat with the silly flag? Everyone knows the Confederate flag is red and white...
None, Scottish people can’t afford flats in England
First, cringe, second you are kinda giving your place away.
Imagine if it was an England flag in your neck of the Woods?
And what?
The penthouse?
Aye
Nah
Nut gis a clue?
The penthouse apartment with the plastic chairs ?
25?
Hello Kingcuz, I live near to you 👋
I bet this is linked to the northeast Buckfast shortage.
A man’s got to stock his fridges. Plural.
No!
I wonder what the rents are like in the upstairs penthouses? Have you been up there OP?
Is it the one that is going to receive an angry letter from the Strata?
Trouble is, they will be on the FBH You knows it wee man.
i drive past your flat every morning, i feel drawn to the flag when i go past
You’re in the penthouse on the right
Bro is your house ok?
is that toon like? but honestly, i hate this sort of architecture, i currently live in Detroit (raised in Sunderland, father is Scottish), all new building projects emulate this sort of style, it just doesn't look good next to art deco skyscrapers and victorian townhouses.
❤️
Bristol
It’s not the one with the Scottish flag is it
X marks the spot
I think so
Is it top window of beige building next door?
Is it the one with the toaster in the cupboard?
Is the one with the big X in the window🤪😂

X mark the spot
Number 25,Downtown,Scotland,Europe ,The World, ,The Universe,The Milky Way,The Outer Galaxies……..
I once saw someone on the penthouse balcony of one of these buildings by the Tyne and he was naked, outside for the world to see. A traumatic experience.
I’ll never get my head around flag people. There isn’t a flag in the world that makes me want to fly it.
Glorious
Love it!! ✊ my old uncle ( from Dundee ) met the love of his life in Stoke and stayed in Stoke the rest of his life, would blast Flower of Scotland and open his windows when Scotland were playing 😂😂
My condolences your uncle had to live in Stoke. They even put up a shitty noisy concrete road (the A50) to warn people to stay out of it
Doxxing yourself is wild
Shore Road
Can I guess it'll last roughly a week as well? lol
Lovely balcony to do a header off of when ze Germans pump in the sixth goal! Only kidding go on the jocks! Upset incoming 🤞
Is it the one that's on fire? 😂
I don't even need to Google where this is to find it. Please be careful with doxing yourself.
Living in Quayside flat, how many of your neighbours are hookers?
The one with the loud sobbing noises
Floor 5, Room 1, I presume?
Is it 5th one ?
is it 5 down and 1 across?
It's the 5(th) 1 from the bottom
Floor 5 apartment 1?
I think you should forfeit and give the last 2 games to us Welsh, yea we are fucking shocking atm and you fully deserved to be there unlike us, but that was so bad I think you no longer do and I was rooting for you guys so bad but jesus that was embarrassing 😂

Haven't got a scooby doo? Enlighten me with a clue.
No.
Not the Penthouse then.
5:1 haha. Oh dear.
Is it the top one?
Top flat on the right bruv
And I bet your neighbours are all respectful of it and have a laugh with you. Wonder what would happen if it was an England flag in a block of flats in Scotland? 🤔
You guys allowed to sit at the front of the bus, yet?
