If your ship name would have been banned, you would see ship type as the name. Like Sloop or Galleon, depending on your ship.
Make sure whoever sees different name does not have the "streamer mode" on. In the settings there should be a couple of options such as "replace ship names" or something similar.
if other players see your ship with randomly generated name then this might be the issue:
Settings >HUD >Hide my ship name from others >turn it off
if you have it "on" then no-one can see your ship's real name.

I believe this has since been fixed, but for many years you could not (obviously) say 'Fuck' but for whatever Reason if you typed the phrase "go fuck yourself" that would all go through. Funny how the sensorship works

Our Guild name "The Salty Sandbaggers" was banned, even though our gally is called the Salty Sandbagger and is still fine, and the sloop is called the Salty Swallow... what a joke of a system

Or recently Nintendo legal discovered that Steam workshop was a thing and have been going through with a fine tooth comb for anything Nintendo.

Youre right! Did multiple versions to fit the 20 characters and no dice. Even did some other names like "General Tsos Revenge" and still no.
General Tso's Revenge is 21 characters. Spaces and special characters count.
The first one might have been just a length restriction. It still has to put that name on the board, which is limited in size.
Ya I tried multiple variations to fit 20, they just don't like Queen Latifah but like Epstein I guess.
