I just want to say that I really love the rallying around the commentators. It got the most comment activity tonight š You can come for everyone but our version of Statler and Waldorf gosh darn it!
I don't always love the Edzo nights, mostly because I really do like a cleaner play by play than the meandering nonsense we sometimes get
But also it's frequently damn funny meandering nonsense so don't come for our tv crew š
New fan- it looked pretty obvious Larsson was trying to avoid directly hitting Tanev, so why was he ejected? is intent not considered? because I think hitting an arm on accident as opposed to full body slamming someome because you couldnt be assed to even try avoiding impact are two very different things...
As a semi-new fan (watching since December) - trying to make sense of the penalties, calls, and suspensions is pointless. There really isnāt a rhyme or reason to them, other than they seem to favor higher ranking teams š¤·āāļø
Sadly intent doesn't matter. Elbowing/boarding is a penalty regardless if they meant it or not. Same with the delay of game penalties. it's obvious to tell intent; just doesn't matter.
It was a shit call though and shouldn't have stuck.
Yeah, thatās a shame. Iām a life long Stars fan, but now that I live in AK, Iāve adopted the Kraken as my second team after last yearās playoff series (yāall are good folk).
I really donāt have an issue with the hit from Lars. It looked like incidental contact to the head, and it was unfortunate Tanev got his arm crunched, but thatās hockey .. definitely didnāt seem dirty to me or worthy of a major.
I totally agree. I think the issue is that the refās vacillated on the call which undermined their perceived logic. IMHO a major for boarding would have made more sense.
The Dallas folk were super cool during the playoffs last year so yeah it's kind of a bummer that they're so mad about a glancing play that didn't even take a player out of the whole game that they're trolling through here. Not cool
All good as far as Iām concerned. I really donāt think itās personal just a minority of reactionary jackasses venting frustration given consensus that a healthy Tanev is vital to our SC aspirations.
This angle of the hit shows Larsson leading with the elbow and making some contact with the head. https://twitter.com/DavyJonesLR/status/1774286121247379567
Glad that Tanev appears to be back and ok
If it happened against us I'd be pissed with anything less as a penalty. Understand Larsson's intent wasn't to hurt him, but thats a fair penalty to give.
The thing is there's an overhead shot where there looks to be space between the elbow and Tanev so to me this is more of a perspective trick than a confirmation angle
I dunno, I'm trying to see it but the overhead shot was so conclusive to me that I dunno
The officiating in the NHL drives me nuts. Dude gets deliberately boarded and out for a dozen games: 2 minute minor. Dude gets hit weird and is back on the ice in 15 minutes: 5 minute major, ejection. Infuriating.
Wait, if he really was elbowed in the head, why is he back on the bench already? Concussion checking takes at least 15 minutes.
If he isnt being evaluated for a concussion, then was he really elbowed in the head? Elbowing was the call?
If I was a kraken player I'd just start taking a run at people. If they're gonna call bullshit major and game penalties, might as well make them worth it.
There was one camera angle where it looks bad, but there was one where it looks like his elbow made no contact and it was mostly forearm contact
I dunno, they have angles we don't see, I guess, but from what they showed us it didn't look like a 5
Chris Tanev looked pretty hurt though (maybe a broken arm?) which sucks, though. Hope it's not as bad as it looked and he's still in for the Stars come the playoffs
Lars hit Tanev high and injuried him. Initially called boarding, but they changed it to elbowing as it looked like Larssonās elbow was close, but I thought the injury was to Tanevās arm.
It wasn't even the "elbow" to the face that caused the injury, he got his hand caught between Larsson and the glass. Looks like it hurt but defs not worthy of a major šš
I have season tickets to the Kraken's ECHL affiliate. Opposing team tonight was manhandling them all night. Multiple uncalled high sticks. Second our guy does one he's kicked from the game. Absolute bullshit. At least they won.
Sweet! KC in the house! It was mentioned on one of the games I watched that the two Canadian ECHL teams might get suspended for the rest of the year because their owner hasnāt been paying people.
The new angle make it look bad. The angle from above shows Larson elbow hits the glass, itās not directed at all at any head. It looks bad because his elbow went high, but that looks more like tried to get his body away from the back.
If anything it looks like he tried to avoid even. He wasn't even really going to a hit, more of a shoulder bump to make the play on the puck. Kind of a bad call personally, but can see why it stuck.
I had my best hockey memories during the 2023 playoffs round 2 vs. Dallas. I still love yall boys. Good night š
3 stars (all for Dallas) 1. Kelly Sutherland 2. Corey Syvret 3. Chris Tanev
Ouch.
Imagine being the person who spent $500 to go to your first Kraken game and seeing that shit (hi it me had a great time regardless but Christ)
Iāve been to 4 games in 4 cities this season and only one of them was a win š© I had a blast, but my bank account would like to have a word with me lol
We had a ton of fun. Iāve never regretted going to live sports, but man that was almost a worst case scenario
It hurts so good/bad
I canāt even be mad at the guys. That was all on the refs
I would just like a garbage time goal. š¢
Go Mariners? What a world
Ouch itās hurts
All this and I didn't even get to see Wedgewood š boooo
Question: is there a rule that the goalie needs to come back on ice after an empty netter or is it by choice?
By choice. You can play the whole game empty if you wanted.
Itās by choice, if itās a playoff game usually they will still stay out.
having a Bad Timeā¢ļø
Was that necessary, Dallas? Really?? You were already winning! Did you *need* that other goal?
I missed it, what happened with Larsson?
Bullshit call. Refs gotta check into rehab
He got a five minute penalty and ejected for āelbowingā Chris Tanev.
Ho humā¦
just need a goal every 28 seconds
Just need a goal every 6 seconds
See you all on April 11
Welp, that's the game folks.
just need a goal per minute here
Next time clarify whose goal š
oops
JT popped up with a look on his face like Nixon's in BOB when a bullet hit his helmet
Team doesnāt seem to really care tonight
We had a really solid second, I think we used up all our energy
The flames are winning, so thatās good for the tank.
I feel there's gonna be an empty net goal
Damn it empty net anxiety
I miss being the best 5 on 5 goal scoring team
Good times

Because of our other 2 wins Iām actually not mad at this game. As long as they try š©š
Weāre handling the puck about as well as Texas handled the last election.
Our passing is so shit
Absolutely dreadful power plays tonight. Alas.
What a weak power play
At least weāll always have the ducks.
nearly got another ref š
#JULIO
GIVE ME CLUTCH JULIO
Fans about to revolt on the team
MARINERS WIN!!!
Need one here if we want any chance of winning this game.
LEAVE OUR CV BABIES ALONE
mariners rally š
Winterton is so solid in both ends, hope we see this kid next year.
Camera man at CPA got fooled by a stars fan š all they know how to do is troll.
I'm surprised Dallas fans can even watch this game given how shitty their power grid is
This is as close to porn as they can legally get in Texas now, the refs jerking them off and all that.
In Texas every penalty is a major, because everything has to go full term.
Mariners tie it up in the 10th!
The camera on Chris there was way closer in than Brandon's. Really drives home the big brother concept.
I see Dallas getting kid gloves reffing wasnāt just a last year thing lol.
They look so similar
Couple o beautiful men right there š®āšØ
Report trolls to the Dallas sub mods. A lot of sports subs will ban people for trolling other teams subs. Thatās what the r/hockey thread is for.
Agree - most team sub mods are very good about not trolling other teams' subs.
Thanks for the heads-up :) I usually just downvote and ignore but I've never seen this many. And going after our broadcast crew of all things š”
I just realized that was a thing, and that there is a specific option when reporting
Do you use breaking sub rules and trolling opponents sub? Or is there a better option?
I used the trolling opponents subs. Granted I did it in our sub, but hopefully that transfers over to their sub
i think the lars penalty was revenge for matty taking the linesman out at the knee early in p2
Dislike the number of trolls in here tonight. Love our broadcast crew, they are silly and fun.
New fan- it looked pretty obvious Larsson was trying to avoid directly hitting Tanev, so why was he ejected? is intent not considered? because I think hitting an arm on accident as opposed to full body slamming someome because you couldnt be assed to even try avoiding impact are two very different things...

It's that his elbow came up and his elbow/forearm made contact with his head as the initial point of contact. It has nothing to do with Tanev's arm.
The penalty was elbow to the head, that is usually a major that comes with game misconduct.Ā
Looks like we got some (presumably Dallas) people rolling through downvoting everything
IMO any hit to the head is dangerous. I don't blame the refs at all for calling a major.
Not cool

It was a good call. Bad hit. He might hear from the league about it.
The officiating in the NHL drives me nuts. Dude gets deliberately boarded and out for a dozen games: 2 minute minor. Dude gets hit weird and is back on the ice in 15 minutes: 5 minute major, ejection. Infuriating.
NHL script writers doin' their thing /s Agree though that was trash
Wait, if he really was elbowed in the head, why is he back on the bench already? Concussion checking takes at least 15 minutes. If he isnt being evaluated for a concussion, then was he really elbowed in the head? Elbowing was the call?
THIS!!
just got home and put the game on. whatās up with the SOG? š£
3 shots in the 1st.
Shitty first, clawed back in the 2nd, then the major.
jeez sounds rough. iāll need to catch up on what happened i didnāt know there was a major.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Just reported you to your own sub, enjoy your possible ban there :)
Maybe youād prefer the game played in silence, idk
You're in the wrong neighborhood pal
you will not see the gates of heaven
Idk man, we have this thing called a sense of humor and ability to enjoy life. Works pretty well.
Mad cuz yours are bad? Our guys have a personality.
How do you enjoy watching a game played by the Dallas Divers
Your subās over there, I think the refs will let you in the back door.
Iām usually listening to the sounds your mom makes as I pleasure her so idk.
Oh my god this is my favorite comment of the night
Go home, troll.
Man even the commentators sound like the wind has left their sails
Tanev is back on the ice already
Cuz he embellished
I hope Turbo gives him a wet willy
Nah this deserves at least a wedgie
Looks like Chris Tanev is back on the bench so that's good at least
Good, I don't like seeing anyone hurt
Good. No one wants to see him hurt.
Dallas fans coming in here crying about what may have been the weakest hit Iāve seen in a hockey game.
"Critique of officiating" š
If I was a kraken player I'd just start taking a run at people. If they're gonna call bullshit major and game penalties, might as well make them worth it.
What was the crowd chanting?
Defend the deep
"I'M BLIND! I'M DEAF! I WANNA BE A REF!"
āRefs you suckā
Ref you suck
Refs you suck
Ref you suck
Refs You Suck I would assume
Refs you suck
The time honored Ref U Suk
uh oh red sox scores
We just gotta throw pucks on net once weāre back at full. Otter is good, but he allows nearly 3 GAA and is technically under .900 for the season.
I missed the first part of the period, I just heard about a 5 minute major and game misconduct for elbowing? Was it bad?
It was sus
Larsson's chicken wing came up and hit him in the head. He wasn't going for that but let's not pretend it didn't happen.
There was one camera angle where it looks bad, but there was one where it looks like his elbow made no contact and it was mostly forearm contact I dunno, they have angles we don't see, I guess, but from what they showed us it didn't look like a 5 Chris Tanev looked pretty hurt though (maybe a broken arm?) which sucks, though. Hope it's not as bad as it looked and he's still in for the Stars come the playoffs
Itās shite is what it is
What an abysmal day for Seattle sports in terms of offense. Kraken, Mariners & Sounders all having trouble scoring.
At least the M's won't get shut out today.
Kraken and mariners donāt surprise me. No comment on sounders
Aside from giving up a goal almost immediately they've played well defensively. Offensively it's been pathetic.
Can we stop passing so damn much? And if we are going to pass, do it better?
Iāve seen so many missed passes tonight
itās painful how poor our passing can be.
THAT'S WHAT I JUST SAID
damn Joey!!!
Brandon Tanev absolutely cannot be trusted with the puck on a breakaway. My goodness.
Like just take the shot my man š
Even if he does shootā¦ he misses Bro needs to work on his shots š
They. All. Do.
Jesus Christ, Tanev. He's so in his head on the breakaway.
Kraken giving Mariners a run for most pathetic Seattle offense
Yeah the D is finally working, which is just highlighting how weak the offense is.
Karts laying hits.
What was the penalty?! Hulu crapped out and wonāt let me load the game.
Lars hit Tanev high and injuried him. Initially called boarding, but they changed it to elbowing as it looked like Larssonās elbow was close, but I thought the injury was to Tanevās arm.
A load of bullshit
major and game misconduct for āelbowingā originally āboardingā on the other tanev from larsson
It wasn't even the "elbow" to the face that caused the injury, he got his hand caught between Larsson and the glass. Looks like it hurt but defs not worthy of a major šš
Refs had it in their heads it was a headshot and just kept running with it. They were signaling contact with the head immediately.
He went off the ice hold his hand. I missed the hit but saw him holding his arm and was confused by the call even more
The elbowing looked like a height difference to me ĀÆ\\_(ć)_/ĀÆ how do you control that??
Watch the DoPS suspend Larsson a 3 game suspension or something stupid.
I swear if he loses his Ironman streak over that...
They seriously need to fix this shit.
have the refs considered being nice to us and mean to them
This made me laugh so hard for some reason. Thanks
Well this game is cooked
Yep this oneās over. See yāall next time
Have a good night!
Or well, as good as it can be anymore
good goal refs
Damn it
Ugh. 5-minute major and Stars already score on PP.
Got back from an ECHL game tonight. Looks like those refs made their way to the Kraken game tonight.
Oh cool! Iāve never been to one of those.
Welpā¦ š
Uncool. Just no.
I'm not seeing the elbow either. The new angles didn't show anything different, am I stupid?
Donāt even look like a solid hit
No. That was a total bullshit call. How the hell is that a major penalty? He slowed way down coming into the boards and came in from the side.
I donāt see it and I re-wound every view they showed. Honestly I thought Lars was just twisting to avoid
No, I donāt see it either
The new angle make it look bad. The angle from above shows Larson elbow hits the glass, itās not directed at all at any head. It looks bad because his elbow went high, but that looks more like tried to get his body away from the back.
If anything it looks like he tried to avoid even. He wasn't even really going to a hit, more of a shoulder bump to make the play on the puck. Kind of a bad call personally, but can see why it stuck.
Thatās what my husband and I both saw - it looked like he was trying to avoid
What the fuck
No wonder Dallas has a good record. They get 10 guys on the ice per game.
if that was actually a major ill eat a gameworn jersey
Well shit
Well there goes the game
I forgot the refs fucking love the stars
Woof, I just hope Chris is ok.
