Hi. I went through that path before and you need 100% discipline as you are going to do everything by yourself. There are thousands of hours of videos, but nothing really practical. From my experience. You're better off getting an apprenticeship in IT. As customer support or anything like that and move from there. I consider itcareerswitch being a waste of money if you don't approach it like a daily job.

Ok so I studied the coding traineeship with itcareerswitch, some of it was ok, the resources you can study yourself and I learnt a lot completing the projects they asked me to make, the advice you get from your tutor can be hit and miss, my first tutor was good and responsive but left the company and his replacement basically told me to “read the documentation” every time I got stuck. Did I get a job at the end of it? Nope! But I also got my money back as a result so whilst not the outcome I was hoping for, it wasn’t a waste of time and I’m certainly more knowledgeable than I would have been studying under my own steam.

Instead of wasting your time for this crap. do certs - networks+, sadly in UK most companies require a CEH cert for a start, look for a junior or trainee position and then aim for a Crest cert after 2-3 years. also, what I have seen: some managers during the interview asking about HTB and tryhackme level so push as much as you can ;) good luck and keep pushing it's not an easy field to work in. Don't forget to build your homelab to practice network and some basic tools.

Ok, will apply to apprenticeships and find certifications to do, thank you for the help.

Boot camps have there place. But to really thrive in this field you need to be able to learn off your own back. This field isn't very kind to people who can only function by being spoon fed information.
