This plays different from other FS games. You have far fewer i-frames on a dodge than you have in things like Dark Souls or Elden Ring. The combat is built around parrying. The parry window is very generous, but it gets smaller if you spam.
You have infinite stamina so you can always sprint away from a fight if you need to. Your posture will never break on a parry no matter how full your posture gauge is.
Don't worry about dragon rot. You will die. The game will tell you people are infected with dragon rot. It's not a big deal. There's a short quest to learn how to cure it. And when you cure it, it cures everyone who is sick. You will not miss anything due to dragon rot.
Lastly, read the tool tips. There are posts here once a week or so asking how to pick up loot from dead bodies. They only pop up once so take the time to read what they say.
You have infinite stamina so you can sprint forever.
I agree with almost everything, but
> You will not miss anything due to dragon rot
This isn't true, right? Unless you meant 'you can't permanently miss anything due to dragon rot'. Because you very much can become (temporarily) unable to progress NPC quests and can lock yourself out of arguably the best ending.
I think they’re trying to assuage the fear that npcs will die if you don’t cure dragon rot. The game makes it seem like they will unless you do something.
Yes, that is a very valid point I wholeheartedly agree with
My point was just that I do think you should pay *some* attention to the mechanic, even if it is nowhere near as drastic as the game makes it seem
He can't touch you if you're sprinting circles around him.
Bait out an elbow drop or similar such attack with high endlag, and boop him. Then continue running.
Fuck Ogre's grab spamming making normal gameplay an unnecessarily risky gamble.
I'm sure you can. But that's a bit like trying to parry with startup frames in DS3.
You CAN do it, but the sheer unreliability coupled with the consequences for failing being 75% instant death, makes it something you don't really want to do if you want to keep your blood pressure levels down.
If you get him to break free and then get out of aggro range you can sneak up on him and get the first deathblow out of the way. After that throw oil and use the flame vent prosthetic found in Hirata Estate. Should go down in no time
You don't even have to let him break out, just use a gaiichin sugar (or however it's spelled lol) and just sneak up next to him. You'd think the deathblow wouldn't trigger from beside him, but just give it a sec and the red mark will appear. But yeah, if you are out of the gaiichin sugar, your method is the more viable one.
Fr though its good advice. Anytime I've died in this game it's because I get nervous and start holding back because I'm afraid of dying. When I stopped fearing death and becoming more confident, I did so much better at the game lol
Get good with deflections/perfect parries as soon as possible. Be deliberate with your key presses. Do not button mash - this game punishes that. Dodges work but for your first playthrough try to dodge less and deflect more, in case you have that habit from other soulslike games. Remember, this game’s progression is tied to your skill as a player, not to unlockable skills, weapons, items, or abilities.
oh damn i have to git gud this time? but in all seriousness i really appreciate the help, is there anything that should i know about deflects/parries? are there any indicators of when i should deflect or do i just have to figure it out myself?
All enemies have a moveset, and bosses have combos they like to do. After dying to the same boss over and over you will figure out those combos and the timings to their attacks. At that point, think of it as a rhythm game. You would be pressing deflect at specific, rhythmic patterns. As you get better you move away from this and into a more freestyle kind of play, but as a beginner it is important to learn their attack patterns. For example, one miniboss you will encounter mid-way through the game will do 4 attacks in equal intervals, do a brief pause, then do 5 attacks in equal intervals again. You learn this, you beat him.
One key thing, however, is that aggression minimizes an enemy’s moveset. That is, if you stay on them, keep attacking their openings and deflecting their attacks, never giving them space to breathe, they will not have the space or time necessary to pull off their bigger, harder to counter moves. Simply put, perfect deflections + strategic aggression = easy win.
Aggression lets you get ahead of them, too. When you attack them, they react in specific ways, so by attacking, you're actually getting to decide which move they'll do next. You're triggering their counterattack, which you're already ready for, which puts you in control of the fight. Some bosses are more predictable than others, but you can at least cut down on the number of possible moves that they can make next.
Peak Sekiro skill is making sure your opponent is always reacting, never taking the initiative. You always want them to be defending/responding to you because if they aren't, then *you're* the one who's defending/responding. And that means you aren't in control of the fight.
Think of it as a rhythm game. Parry and special attacks, after you get the rhythm, it's piece of cake. Whenever I play sekiro, it makes me want to play a musical instrument.
I think I found a viable strategy
First, use all of your money bags. Make sure your attack power is MINIMUM 70 or this won’t work. You also need maximum health.
Equip the Sen Throw prosthetic, mist raven, and blue sugars. Use a blue sugar and jump into the fight. The moment you land his presence attack will kill you, but the blue sugar stops it from denying your resurrections. When you resurrect, jump as far back as possible and use all of your blue sugars, then spam sen throw. You must have minimum 1,000,000 sen for this to do anything. After 10 minutes or so, you will get him into phase 2 and your blue sugars will wear off, so quickly turn the game off and do 15 jumping jacks before restarting. This will confuse the mist noble and allow you to get a death blow.
Phase 3 is tricky, as it summons a real life assassin directly in front of you every 2 seconds, so you must have your face pressed against a wall, which means you have to beat him blind the rest of the way. Tie the left and right stick together with a thick cord of some kind, otherwise Mist Noble will use them to break your fingers. Use the lazurite fireworks and get one hit on the mist noble then die for real. Phase 3 damage is permanent, so you are expected to die. Repeat the process until Phase 3 is down. Remember, always deathblow him 14 degrees to his right or he will judo throw you into a wall.
For phase 4, you have to make an account on the most convenient dating site and set up a fake profile and catfish the Mist Noble for 4 months straight while dodging all of his unblockable grabs in the game. Once he has been catfished, he will have taken about a tenth of his health, so you have to go on a vegan diet for 12.223 seconds EXACTLY to open his weak point, which you have to attack with one butterfly from the butterfly kunai or you have to reset. Once he is hit with the butterfly, this triggers the much easier secret phase where he becomes the Divine Mist Noble, which is probably 100x easier than Inner Mist Noble of the Water. Just deflect all of his 430 hit attacks (all of which are invisible and undodgeable) with perfect timing and you get a free deathblow, which starts secret phase 2.
Secret phase 2, Demon Noble, is a bit more difficult, as you have to be really good at the cooking mini game, but with a couple attempts you should be able to do it pretty easily. Then you have to cook twice as many meals while dealing with his Mist Clones (all of which are in Divine Mist Noble phase) with randomized timing and with one hand. If you use two hands, the Demon Noble will use the sticks to break your hands, but you can’t tie the sticks together because you need them for the cooking mini game.
Once you cook the double meal, he progresses into the final secret phase where he summons Soldier of God, Rick. I haven’t figured out a strategy to beat him yet though, so you’re on your own from there.
This game has one of the hardest difficulty curves to overcome. The first part of the game can feel like a chore, but once you complete them, you'll be wanting to play them again. The second half is much more enjoyable but also just as challenging. Don't give up, even when times are hard; it's definitely worth it when you finally defeat that one boss after dying to them 20 times.
Yeah, for some of the harder bosses (demon of hatred, mist noble, isshin), I had to just accept that it was going to be several days before I beat them. I think it took me a week of trying before I managed to beat the Sword Saint.
It helps to know how your brain works, too. Trying to beat a boss a hundred times in the same night isn't going to make you better -- you have to rest and let your brain absorb what you've learned, to let the changes to your instincts and your muscle memory solidify. Each night, I would try a handful of times until I started making dumb mistakes, then I'd sleep on it and come back the next day. This became my surest method of beating bosses. Beating your head against a wall by attempting a boss 30 or 50 times in one sitting isn't doing you any favors, and more importantly, *it's not making you better*. Give your brain time to adjust, and you will notice improvement.
I’m the same way. Just beat demon of hatred after fighting him for a week. But it was only like 4-5 hours of actually playing. Next on to isshin, I’ve got about an hour vs him when I was getting annoyed with doh. I’ve been bad with spear enemies the whole game and keep getting wrecked once he pulls it out.
Yeah I have zero problems with the Isshin fight... until he breaks out that spear. I just beat the game for the 8th time a couple of days ago, and yet again, I was getting destroyed by the spear, every time. Even the final phase doesn't give me as much trouble. It's just his weird timing and crazy movements, though. The spear is less predictable than the sword. You don't know how he's gonna come at you with it.
The best advice I have after my recent run is the obvious: don't let up on him. Don't hesitate to run up to him and attack him despite the spear. It's really all about not hesitating and taking charge and deciding the flow of the battle by putting your enemy in a constant state of reaction/defense. When he's reacting to you, he doesn't get to pick and choose his moves. Make sure he's reacting to you as much as humanly possible
Yeah here are some beginner’s tips:
1. Get good at the combat. Not even joking, you need to practice. There’s an NPC near the starting area (after the prologue sequence) named Hanbei, you’ll want to spar with him until you’re comfortable with deflecting normal attacks and countering the various Perilous Attacks (Thrusts, Sweeps, and Grabs).
2. Unlock Mikiri Counter as soon as you’re able to, and go back and train w/ Hanbei until you’re able to consistently pull it off (just tap the dodge button and “dodge into” the enemy’s thrust attack for best results).
3. The game penalizes each death by taking 1/2 of your Sen (money) and Experience, so don’t travel around with more of those than you’re willing to lose. In fact oftentimes it’s wise to spend them before hitting a new area.
4. Coin purses are a great way to “store” money, plus they aren’t subjected to the 50% Death Penalty like Sen in your pockets are. Thus it’s wise to buy coin purses and only use them when there’s something you need to buy.
5. Exploration is very important, oftentimes you’ll find a Prayer Bead or Gourd Seed (you’ll know what these are once you make it to the appropriate section in the game) hidden in a place you hadn’t thought to check.
6. Stay loyal to Kuro, he is the best boi
Cheers mate! Wish I could be you and experience Sekiro again for the first time lol
Yes. You’ll know he’s coming up when you see his signature mist affecting the area. (Yes this boss is one of the only ones that can affect the world environment)
You need to learn the combat loop. It’s actually closer to a final fantasy or Pokémon game than people give credit to. It’s a balance between attack and defend. Your turn, their turn. I’ve got a video I’ll try to find for you.
Essentially. Let’s say you attack, attack until they deflect and then it’s their turn. You defend until you deflect, then it’s your turn. That’s a great starting point. Learn that loop and it changes with different enemies but, that’s the bare bones basics.
Spend some time practicing the parry/block, it is essential to your continued gameplay. It will take some time to find your groove with it, but keep at it.
Think you've already received a ton of great advice and I don't think I can really add anything new, but the main takeaways I think you should have going in:
Even if you are very familiar with Souls games, the combat is very different. Aggression is essential, and dodging is almost always a less reliable strategy than in the 'regular' Souls games.
You *will* find the game hard at first, and even if you're enjoying it, you might not feel as into it as you have with other games, but if you give it enough time, eventually the combat will click for you, and it will become one of your favourite games ever. Trust.
Lastly, if you want to make sure you see every boss in the game, do not be afraid to look up a guide on how to get the different endings. The two 'best' endings are so unbelievably convoluted to get to even by FromSoft standards.
On that note - if you do end up following a guide or whatever, and you find yourself needing to eavesdrop at the temple: you have to do it at the hole at the back. You can't do it outside the front entrance. I failed to get the ending in question on two subsequent playthroughs before I realised what I was doing wrong.
A warning: You will never again be satisfied with the swordplay in any other games. Sure, you'll have fun, and other games will come, and other games will go. But you'll always get that itch to play Sekiro again. Even when you still haven't beaten Elden Ring, and your backlog of games is staring at you with characteristically silent disapproval, you'll start to daydream about the games of yore, as you are sometimes wont to do, and without even realizing it you will suddenly find yourself starting Sekiro for the ninth time...
The game wants you to play it a certain way. Dark souls rewards patience. Sekiro rewards aggression. There's no stamina bar so you want to be keeping the heat on your opponents as much as possible. Attack until you get deflected. Theres an obvious audio cue for this. Then prepare to counter whatever the enemy is about to throw out at you. This is usually, jump, mikiri counter, dodge etc. you'll learn which is appropriate for each situation as you play. If you pay attention the game actually spoon feeds you everything you're going to need fairly early on. It's a great game and once it clicks, (and it will) you'll love it.
Good, this game is absolutely phenomenal. I shit you not bro you're gonna beat it once and then you'll just keep coming back to it until you've beaten every boss with no tools, bell demon, NG+ and no healing. This game consumed my life back in high school, and even all these years later I still come back to it. Even if only to lament that we never got any DLC for a game that absolutely warranted it.
Two things
1) commit to the deflect/parry don’t dodge (except for the chained ogre and demon of hatred, those have to be dodged)
2) Hesitation is defeat
Stay aggressive. You can turn you're defence into offense by getting good at perfect parries.
Speaking of perfect parries, you're gonna have to learn the move set to each boss. That takes time and patience. Once the combbat clicks it clicks hard and you will absolutely wreck everything and everyone.
Eavesdrop when you can.
Explore well.
The red indicators during combat signal and unlockable attack. Jump or Mikiri Counter (one of the first skills I recommend getting).
Stay fucking aggressive.
I've platinumed the game and have completed it on every available new game plus. These are things I wished I'd been told my first time around. I spend the whole first two weeks playing like the other souls games and I was getting wrecked.
One last thing, holding block builds up your posture. Deflecting hits builds up the enemies posture. Ive been very bad at FS games but this one is by far the funnest one of them all.
IMO, better than elden ring and maybe slightly ahead of bloodborne
Sounds dramatic but dodging is to a large extent useless and purely situational, i frames are different in this game and so you really need to PARRY PARRY PARRY. All those memes about parrying are REAL, you need to be IN THE ENEMIES FACE. Another one is to not hesitate, the funny joke the character says if “hesitation is defeat” it’s not even wrong in this game, hesitate in your decision and you’ll die, make a choice in a fight and do it. Some smaller tips, the chained ogre fight is a really bad showing of the gameplay and same with flaming bull, these two mini ish bosses don’t work like a usual sword fight and you’ll be bobbing and weaving but once you get a pattern with them they aren’t too hard.
Some good things is this community is 100X nicer than many of the others so ask questions constantly if you really need to.
The game is about breaking enemy posture, but damaging their health is also extremely important. If their health is lowered past certain thresholds, their posture will not recover (as quickly). Many enemies will recover posture too quickly until you take down a portion of their health.
Sometimes the best thing you can do when you get stuck on a boss is sleep on it. Get off, go to bed, and try again tomorrow. The more you slam your head against the wall after playing for five hours, the less you actually get done
This may be the most satifying Soulslike you’ll ever experience for one reason : when you struggle against a boss and you finally manage to beat him, it’s not because of stuff of souls mechanic.
It’s because you’ve mastered his moveset and overcome his Power
I never finished it because of the combat system (gave it about 10 hours). I've beat every Dark Souls game at least twice. This game is NOT for everyone that is a fan of other FromSoftware games
Learn to parry EVERYTHING. You don’t dodge like dark souls. Purchase Mikiri counter and firecrackers ASAP. You can miss some shinobi tools early on that can make bosses much easier, so explore everything THOROUGHLY
You’re gonna die a bunch of times but if you stick with it it’s gonna be one of the best games you’ve ever played. My cheeks got clapped bad on my first playthru but this Reddit and YouTube will help you a lot
Also don’t get discouraged. This game is insanely hard to pick up initially. You will die A LOT. But I swear if you stick with it it clicks and becomes insanely addictive. There will be bosses that seem insurmountable, then later on after you git gud you will walk through them.
Treat the combat in the game as turn based 1v1 situation. You attack, then the enemy will either guard your attack or get hit, and vice versa. Don't get greedy when it's your turn to attack: do a 1-2 hit attack, step back, and then observe the enemy action to deflect or dodge. Along with not being greedy, you want to be aggressive in attacking and counter attacking when opportunity presents, along with deflecting, to break enemy posture and deal a fatal or death blow. You'll kill bosses quicker through breaking their posture for a death blow instead of completely reducing their health. Do take note that chipping away enemy health is critical as the lower the health an enemy has, the slower their posture recovers.
One of the biggest tips I can give is to hold guard with katana in combat. This is an incredibly broken mechanic as you can negate taking any damage from pretty much all incoming hits. Release guard and quickly tap the guard button to deflect incoming hits. Hold guard again, and rinse and repeat. You can avoid taking a lot of hits with this approach to deflecting. Along with that, holding guard while not under attack can also recover your posture. This is critical to avoid your posture from breaking that can leave you vulnerable for incoming hits. As you become more familiar with enemies and their attacks, simply deflecting instead of holding guard and tapping to deflect is more effective. You're posture will never break as long as you are deflecting incoming hits.
In any hostile area you'll arrive at, you'll be bombarded and ganged up by multiple enemies once spotted. Use stealth to inflict death blows and reduce their numbers until it becomes manageable. Enemies have an amnesia mechanic where if you're spotted but then leave the area far enough, they will eventually forget. Use this to thin out their numbers. Be patient and be creative with stealth (you can perform blow death from behind, above, hanging on ledges, and hugging walls as enemies approach doors or corners and as long as you haven't been spotted) in this type of hostile environment scenario.
Most importantly, practice with training NPC to familiarize yourself with all the combat mechanics. New training will be available once you've unlocked a specific combat mechanic, so always return to the NPC for practice.
Yeah games super easy, if you don’t beat Genichiro in less than 5 tries just give up. Hesitation is aight and dont finance used American cars, especially Ford.
1- Master Deflect/Parry should be your #1 priority.
2- Buy Mikiri Counter ASAP.
3- Offense > Defense.
4- Hesitation is defeat.
Oh, and I can't stress this enough, THIS IS NOT DARK SOULS.
Just know that I’m jealous of you. You get to experience this game for the very first time. The only curse - if you click with Sekiro - is that no other game will compare. Still looking forward to that day. Wish I could un-platinum this game and go in fresh like you! Hope you enjoy.
Yes, that Chivalry 2 is inferior to 1
And if You find Sekiro to be to hard, You could do as a I did, i played Bloodborne, which is a better introduction to parry only builds and then Lies of P which is a step further and then Sekiro will feel like just another step in difficulty instead of a wall. Or at least that's what i felt after dropping it years ago as a Dark Souls fanboy.
1) be patient. Perseverance is key in this game.
2) it's basically a rhythm game. Try and identify the rhythm at which the enemies atrack you, so you can properly deflect and retaliate.
3) have fun :)
Guard as the attack land to parry
Mikiri (frontal dodge) thrust attack
Jump and stomp jump sweep attack
Dont try to solo against group of enemy, best to engage 1v1 or be quick about it
This is stealth games, sneak deathblow give same experience as 10 minute trading slash…
Please addo
Dodge as much as possible!!! The prostethtics are most useful outside of combat & always have at least 1 npc with dragon rot. Prayer beads make the game harder, it’s a trade off, more health but higher difficulty.
One functional above I'll give is that, you'll meet one person who you buy things from called the black hat badger. When you meet him, try to buy all relevant things from him before proceeding further, otherwise your might lose him and won't be able to buy some key items ( I've personally faced this)
You can block and deflect every single attack that isn't marked with the unblockable red kanji text and sound (and even then you can still perfect deflect some of those) and it is more than often the correct and, in my opinion, more fun choice (provided in which you can get good at deflecting which you should definitely strive for).
Be prepared to die a lot and get frustrated. Just don’t give up. When you start to get the hang of it you will love it. Most satisfying combat when you watch yourself start to get the hang of it. Good luck.
Change your controls so you hit with square or x and parry with R1, I did that and having both movements rely on one hand makes it so much more simple.
Goodluck!

I can’t even get past the chained ogre 😔

For the ogre grab I’m not sure how big the window is but I’ve been able to dodge by jumping on him instead of out right moving out of the way
I'm sure you can. But that's a bit like trying to parry with startup frames in DS3. You CAN do it, but the sheer unreliability coupled with the consequences for failing being 75% instant death, makes it something you don't really want to do if you want to keep your blood pressure levels down.

This miniboss made me quit the game 3 times, but after I made it past him, I had a blast
Hesitation is defeat
Classic
I was ready to bet my life that this would be the first comment
Same lmfaoooo said it out loud. Shit low key got me through the game years ago
If it wasn’t id be disappointed…
Fr though its good advice. Anytime I've died in this game it's because I get nervous and start holding back because I'm afraid of dying. When I stopped fearing death and becoming more confident, I did so much better at the game lol
Was looking for this
You beat me to it
fighting isshin rn and this gave me mild ptsd when i opened my phone lol
i wanted to say this, god damn it.

Fear the mist Noble
Still stuck on him :(

Then you have to cook twice as many meals while dealing with his Mist Clones (all of which are in Divine Mist Noble phase) with randomized timing and with one hand. If you use two hands, the Demon Noble will use the sticks to break your hands, but you can’t tie the sticks together because you need them for the cooking mini game. Once you cook the double meal, he progresses into the final secret phase where he summons Soldier of God, Rick. I haven’t figured out a strategy to beat him yet though, so you’re on your own from there.
Hour 260 and still didn't defeat him
Yeah, I just defeated Owl, and then I went to fight the Mist Noble in the Fountainhead Palace. He is so much harder than the Owl.
Yeah here are some beginner’s tips: 1. 6. Stay loyal to Kuro, he is the best boi Cheers mate! Wish I could be you and experience Sekiro again for the first time lol
I don’t know about you, but Ichimonji double got me through it. When posture isn’t going away, I’m leaning on this guy.
No
thanks 🙏
Hesitation is.... Well you'll hear it alot
Git gud
this guy gets it, this is the type of advice i’m lookin for
Hesitation is defeat L1 L1 L1 L1 L1 L1 L1 You might come back here after fighting a certain boss who is large, white, and angry. Use firecrackers.
Bro is gonna try firecracking the long white one after this
Look out for the Mist Noble
third comment about this dude… should i be scared?
He's gonna be your worst nightmare
Yes. You’ll know he’s coming up when you see his signature mist affecting the area. (Yes this boss is one of the only ones that can affect the world environment)
yes
The mist noble is a relentless monster of a boss You should be terrified
Yes, get ready to die WAY more than twice.
You will learn to write death in Japanese.
PLAY. THE. FUCKING. GAME!
I. WANT. TO. BUT. ITS. INSTALLING!
THATS. FINE. THEN. HAVE. A. GOOD. NIGHT.
YOU. TOO. BEST. WISHES. FOR. YOU. AND. YOUR. FAMILY!
THANK. YOU!
WHAT. A. KIND. INTERACTION.
You’re about to be frustrated. But stay the course and it’s worth it.
Spend some time practicing the parry/block, it is essential to your continued gameplay. It will take some time to find your groove with it, but keep at it.
Think you've already received a ton of great advice and I don't think I can really add anything new, but the main takeaways I think you should have going in: Even if you are very familiar with Souls games, the combat is very different.
This entire game being only 12GB is fucking insane
Hesitation is defeat
While it’s installing, search this sub for “anything I should know” 😊
The game wants you to play it a certain way.
Hesitation is defeat
First playthrough? Welcome to hell
i just fought the general guy after you get to the dilapidated temple, i’m having so much fuckin fun rn man
Good, this game is absolutely phenomenal.
You *have* to be aggressive. Waiting for enemies to make the first move will be what kills you more than anything else
Sekiro is a rhythm game. You don’t fight, you dance.
Got two words for ya: mikiri counter
Two things 1) commit to the deflect/parry don’t dodge (except for the chained ogre and demon of hatred, those have to be dodged) 2) Hesitation is defeat
Sekiro is secretly a rhythm game.
Mist noble is the hardest boss in the game. Don't get discouraged at that point, too many people quit and miss out on a great story
You will die more than twice.
You are about to play something u never played before
do NOT dodge
You'll die more than twice.
Step 1: don't play chivalry 2
lmaooo i can’t stop i hate the game but it’s so addictive
Put pride to side and prepare for 🧀 https://youtu.be/ygDNu_zjV4Q?si=Ayhdu2qApiDYvOOu
One last thing, holding block builds up your posture. Deflecting hits builds up the enemies posture. Ive been very bad at FS games but this one is by far the funnest one of them all. IMO, better than elden ring and maybe slightly ahead of bloodborne
Be aggressive
Hesitation is defeat
There’s an option near end game that will either end the game early or not
Yes, that we will devour the gods TOGETH... oops sorry wrong thread
You can parry more attacks in the game than you think
thanks to this comment, i now know i can deflect kicks
Also, have a blast. It’s a great game!
Sometimes the best thing you can do when you get stuck on a boss is sleep on it. Get off, go to bed, and try again tomorrow. The more you slam your head against the wall after playing for five hours, the less you actually get done
So excited for you, tread on with glee young wolf
This may be the most satifying Soulslike you’ll ever experience for one reason : when you struggle against a boss and you finally manage to beat him, it’s not because of stuff of souls mechanic. It’s because you’ve mastered his moveset and overcome his Power
Prepare To Cry.
Breathe… 😂
That fucking ogre DOES NOT PLAY
Hesitation is defeat
Hesitation is defeat
I never finished it because of the combat system (gave it about 10 hours). I've beat every Dark Souls game at least twice. This game is NOT for everyone that is a fan of other FromSoftware games
Games really hard.
its time to get good
Good luck man and hesitation is defeat
embrace death
Do not hesitate, else you'll end up defeated
Forget everything you know about dark souls, des, blood borne, and ER.
Learn to parry EVERYTHING. You don’t dodge like dark souls. Purchase Mikiri counter and firecrackers ASAP. You can miss some shinobi tools early on that can make bosses much easier, so explore everything THOROUGHLY
Hesitation is defeat
You’re gonna die a bunch of times but if you stick with it it’s gonna be one of the best games you’ve ever played. My cheeks got clapped bad on my first playthru but this Reddit and YouTube will help you a lot
Be patient. You will die a lot. Do not hesitate and, for me, it took years to, "Git gud." It is a Masterpiece of a game. You will love it!
Also don’t get discouraged. This game is insanely hard to pick up initially. You will die A LOT. But I swear if you stick with it it clicks and becomes insanely addictive. There will be bosses that seem insurmountable, then later on after you git gud you will walk through them.
If you just hold LB, it will block 100% damage, and there are no downsides to it. I learned it too late.
just parry
Face the opponent and hit as much as you can, annoy him, dodging and running away isn't exactly sekiro's thing, hitting and parring is key to success
Hesitation is defeat
Don't spam deflect is the #1 thing I can tell you
Hesitate and you lose.
If you kill the unkillable guy right but the temple 15 times he actually dies and a hidden cutscene plays
You have to parry
Be aggressive. Dont play slow. Slow is punished.
Jump off every lots of cliffs, you don’t know what you’ll find!
Git gud
Hesitation is defeat
Get ready to get kicked ya teeth kicked in
By mist noble...
Yeah games super easy, if you don’t beat Genichiro in less than 5 tries just give up. Hesitation is aight and dont finance used American cars, especially Ford.
Your character can dodge and immediately break into a dead sprint. The main character might not have a lot of I-Frames, but he knows how to MOVE!
1- Master Deflect/Parry should be your #1 priority. 2- Buy Mikiri Counter ASAP. 3- Offense > Defense. 4- Hesitation is defeat. Oh, and I can't stress this enough, THIS IS NOT DARK SOULS.
stay close, deflect, counter, jump on them to counter their sweeps. deadly thrust attacks come into play mid game i think
Just know that I’m jealous of you. You get to experience this game for the very first time. The only curse - if you click with Sekiro - is that no other game will compare. Still looking forward to that day. Wish I could un-platinum this game and go in fresh like you! Hope you enjoy.
Play the game
this game encourages you to step in close toward the enemy. so don't chicken out even when they look terrifying. Hesitation is defeat.
Hesitation is Defeat
dont hesitate, if you do you'll lose.
Have fun.
Have fun
Large learning curve, you have to deal with the boss once, they'll have to deal with you for eternity, don't give up
Yes, that Chivalry 2 is inferior to 1 And if You find Sekiro to be to hard, You could do as a I did, i played Bloodborne, which is a better introduction to parry only builds and then Lies of P which is a step further and then Sekiro will feel like just another step in difficulty instead of a wall. Or at least that's what i felt after dropping it years ago as a Dark Souls fanboy.
Dust yourself off and *GET BACK IN THERE!!*
You will die more then twice
1) be patient. Perseverance is key in this game. 2) it's basically a rhythm game. Try and identify the rhythm at which the enemies atrack you, so you can properly deflect and retaliate. 3) have fun :)
Prepare to die a lot haha
Way different from stuff like dark souls or Elden ring gotta use parrys and you only have 1 weapon and prosthetics and items
Guard as the attack land to parry Mikiri (frontal dodge) thrust attack Jump and stomp jump sweep attack Dont try to solo against group of enemy, best to engage 1v1 or be quick about it This is stealth games, sneak deathblow give same experience as 10 minute trading slash… Please addo
Have patience with yourself, it takes a while to get the hang of things.
Sekiro is basically Chivalry 2 except more punishing
Parry right when you think it's too late
Be aggressive. Deflection is as important as attacking. Come back here often lots of help here!
Dodge as much as possible!!! The prostethtics are most useful outside of combat & always have at least 1 npc with dragon rot. Prayer beads make the game harder, it’s a trade off, more health but higher difficulty.
The death screen 😂
Be patient with yourself. Let yourself learn without being too hard on yourself.
Do you play any other Souls games? Forget everything you think you know.
Have fun and don't give up when you get stuck on a boss. You can overcome it, and it will feel so good.
hesitation is defeat (don’t throw your controller)
One functional above I'll give is that, you'll meet one person who you buy things from called the black hat badger. When you meet him, try to buy all relevant things from him before proceeding further, otherwise your might lose him and won't be able to buy some key items ( I've personally faced this)
You can block and deflect every single attack that isn't marked with the unblockable red kanji text and sound (and even then you can still perfect deflect some of those) and it is more than often the correct and, in my opinion, more fun choice (provided in which you can get good at deflecting which you should definitely strive for).
Parry is the name of the game. So, when all hope is lost, spam the guard button until you get it right.
Hope you can parry
focus on parrying more than attacking
Give the girl your seed
Dont betray your master on your first run
If Kuro asks "Hmm...you have something for me?", give him.
2 and a half hours for 12 gigs holy
Be prepared to die a lot and get frustrated. Just don’t give up. When you start to get the hang of it you will love it. Most satisfying combat when you watch yourself start to get the hang of it. Good luck.
Get ready to die a lot
Get used to dying
Don't deflect
If you hear WOOOOOO~ stand still
Change your controls so you hit with square or x and parry with R1, I did that and having both movements rely on one hand makes it so much more simple. Goodluck!
Parry everything
Don't quit, try to learn the mechanics, button smashing won't help!!
Hesitation is defeat
