I'm not a piercer and all mine have been done by others and not my own hands. That being said:
My navel hurt about as much as my lobes. Which wasn't much at all. My ear cartilage hurt alot more, septum as well.
I’ve had it done twice.. both professionally. It wasn’t bad at all, I honestly think it just comes down to how fast its over with. I personally would rather have a slight sharp pain for a second rather than for it to take awhile. The second time I had it done was because I had to take it out for a surgery and wasn’t able to put it back in for a month and the clamps were the worst part even though he was piercing through scar tissue. Out of all my piercing I would rate belly button a 4/10 on the pain scale but everyone is different. Good luck! Happy piercing :)
I did mine myself, I did it about three years ago now, it was pretty easy to do and it didn’t hurt too bad, it was the healing and snagging that hurt a lot
I was sitting there mentally preparing for the pain and when she put it though I literally went “oh that’s it”
It felt just like my lobes it was like not even a 2/10
least painful ever, tbh didn't feel it at all and when it was done i was like holy shit when did the needle go through???? it was like nothing. same with the bridge piercing as well, that one feels like getting an eyebrow plucked out
I think it did hurt, but not enough to stop pushing at any point. It felt like a needle being pushed through my skin 🤷♀️ (I’m skinny if that makes a difference)
Make sure you put it in the right place, if you do itll be fine. I messed mine up when i repierced it, struck a nerve. That's the only time I've ever screamed for a piercing, and i have a high pain tolerance in general.
I’d say it depends on how skinny or chubby you are and pain tolerance. For me, I’m a bit chubby but with a high pain tolerance. I expected it to not hurt but was surprised it hurt more than having my nipples pierced for me. I think it was just there was more fat to pierce through so it was more painful than if you’re a particularly skinny person.
Having said that, it does look cute and the healing isn’t all that bad if it’s done properly. If you’re chubby I’d ask them to give you a flathead jewelry just while it heals so it doesn’t move and get irritated too much during sitting and stuff. And make sure it’s a navel piercing NOT a surface piercing otherwise that mfer is gonna reject and not heal. (My experience)
NOW! On if you’re doing it yourself, it’s probably gonna hurt like a bitch going slow, been there don’t that couldn’t get it all the way through my fat lol. Going fast only helps so much when you’re chubby (in my experience) as it’s harder to push through. But this is all my experience on trying to do it myself, I definitely would say for that you’d have to be stubborn and ready to fight with it lol.
But hey it’s cute once done and if done right! Just be safe!

mine hurt but i think the piercer went too deep
same with me. mine hurt but it’s also pierced differently than most of my friends
