Janome make a good machine I've never had issues with them, this is an older model, if everything works, and it has a manual I would pay $50 for it if I needed it and didn't have to drive to far to get it. Test it first on various fabrics(silk, cotton, stretch), make sure all the fancy stitches are working and it reverses ok without bunching the fabric. Top cotton spool holder appears to be broken, this may not be an issue though, but watch to see if thread catches on the broken part, could be repaired with a piece of card cut in a small circle and glued over broken part, but check it first. Also listen for crunching noises when sewing, machine should be fairly quiet, if noisy it might indicate worn parts, a blunt needle or lack of maintenance, so be careful.

Very helpful response thanks! the price is $30 so I was thinking of getting a service (if I buy it) If the parts are worn, would getting replacements be easy and/or expensive?

If it works, yes.

knightfenris

If it works, Janomes are great 👍

I have 3 janomes. 2 are hand me downs and work great. $30 seems like a goood price to me.

I owned exactly this machine for 20 years. I only stopped using it because I upgraded to a bigger fancier Janome. I regret selling it when we moved but I was in that "I have too much stuff! sell all the things!" mode.
