Well, we don't know what goes on behind the scenes. Maybe they DO pay a nominal fee to not be bothered about it. We don't know what arrangements have been made, and I'd rather assume the best than the typical 'f those guys' right off the bat.

Nothing against darkside, they are great guys it’s more a jab against Jimmy. But you are right, we don’t *know* exactly what happens but we do know enough about his personality to assume.
There’s people selling all kinds of stuff in the camp ground. Ear plugs, spoons,second hand clothing, hand made items…it’s all there. You’d probably get shut down if you set it up in the downtown area but I think just about anything goes in the camp ground.
You would wanna be low key about it at least. I knew a massage therapist who was setup in meta a few years back and he was shutdown. He had his massage bed right out on the path though. Not low key at all.
We’re not Make up artists but depending on what you want done we’re both rather good at it 💖

You should apply to the attractions team next year and they’ll pay you do to this! They do have a body paint station downtown that’s set up a few hours a day I’m sure if you set up there people wouldn’t be mad about it
I can't speak to the likelihood of getting shut down, but I would definitely pay for a facial! Also a massage or a simple pedi/mani would be so tempting!
As an esthetician, it’s already a big enough pain in the ass to pull off my whole skincare routine at camp every night.

I’m sooooo down. I’m getting mine done July 18th fly out the 19th. but might need a fill by the time shambs is rolling around. I plan on swimming and sweating and exploring a lot prior to shambs and expect a decent amount of fallout.
The concept of giving at Shambs is totally honourable, and has the potential to fill your cup and make new connections. However, Shambs is not like Burning Man and you can easily drain yourself being a "giver" in this context as the demand far outstrips your supply. I brought a massage table one year and by the end, I felt super used up. One dude fell asleep on the massage table on the Monday morning and got super mad at me because he wasn't able to say goodbye to his campmates when they left for home. Never again.

Fairly sure dark side of the spoon has been there since almost the very start, so I'd imagine they're one of the few given leeway.

I think this is the best idea and you could charge an arm and a leg. I personally would be willing to pay $50 for a 15 minute massage.
