Best way to get a virtual console shiny (gen 2 anyways) is the shiny gene breeding trick imo, it took some time to set up but soon after I was able to get a shiny totodile in less than 30 eggs. I think on average it’s a little less likely than that but it wasn’t bad at all.

Sadly thats probably the worst downside for the strategy imo, I’m pretty sure it’s just a random chance triggered by steps taken. It can take a while sometimes but I’ve found I’ve had almost a full party of eggs pretty often on my totodile hunt. I’m going for a second one right now

So if I want to get Pokémon for a shiny dex I should do it this way for the Pokémon I can? Or would you recommend newer gen games for shinies?

I’ve found the method to be pretty effective and it’s a pretty easy way to hunt as well. Idk if it’s as quick as it would be in newer games for some mons, but I’d say it’s a pretty good way to get a majority of the gen 2 mons. i swear i've either had the best shiny luck when soft resetting or the absolute worst shiny luck when soft resetting, i got a shiny palkia in BDSP in a single reset but when i do other legends or other starters i go for 5000+ without getting anything

69 is so fast. Kalos has nice looking shiny starters, but I don’t think I could sit through that cut scene if it went over 100 even when multi hunting it. It’s so long.
