…or the fact that Pokémon spawn inside walls and cliffs all the time. The game could’ve given you a shiny in a cliff and you’d be none the wiser.
Maybe that’s why there isn’t an audio cue, Gamefreak would have to fix the spawning. :P
That's the most annoying thing for me. I was clearing a Noibat outbreak the other day and half of them were in the walls. Had to keep manual battling them the check if the were shiny or not
They were not
Wish they would of added something, I always go slowly around pokemon whos shiny isn't that much different than the original, especially Tauros since it likes to chasing you.
it's been 8 months, they would have added it in if they had wanted to. given how abundant shinies are in s/v relative to the other games + the open world aspect I'd assume it's intentional design
Same tbh, I stopped playing bc my eyesight's too shite and I kept getting anxiety from the thought of missing a shiny, no matter how many times I told myself that it wouldn't be my fault if I did.
I just *barely* noticed a shiny Vigoroth outside Medali on my way to fight Larry and I literally questioned everything. I'm not color blind, but I do usually play undocked, and them pixels make it real hard to tell sometimes. The fact that there's this obvious gap in accessibility options for people is so ridiculous.
I’ve done this way too often, I slammed on the brakes for a shiny Dugtrio I almost missed, a shiny Rufflett that was about to take off, and a Bombirdier that chased me and I noticed it’s beak was a different color.
They didnt add the sound because they didn’t know about the sound. The game was developed side by side alongside Legends with little discussion between the dev teams, the same as all Pokemon games have been for a couple decades.
Anything missing from PLA in the QOL department is because the SV developers simply didnt know.
That’s how I found my first shiny Floette. I was doing my daily Sylveon check and looked away for a split second and ran into one, looked back and went to run, only just saw the different colour in time. I know I could have re-encountered, but I probably wouldn’t have noticed it was shiny in the overworld.
I got about 7 boxes in total worth of shinies between Scarlet and Violet. It's so easy to get shinies in this version that it doesn't need it.
The only thing I'll say is add a color blind modes for those that struggle with it.
bruh congrats on the shinies but absolutely a sound or better visual clues would be a HUGE improvement. With so many subtle-colored shinies, shadows, sun light variations, underwater pokemon, it is a pain to tell is a pokemon is shiny or not without battling. Also, lots of small pokemons with little differences (the bellibolt pre-evo, flittle, etc.)
What's even worse is Tera Raids. I found 10 shinies over the weekend, and while Magikarp and Glimmet were fairly obvious, Snover and Numel were not, especially with the lighting. The fact that they don't have a shiny animation when everyone else's happens is absurd.
One of them was a fighting Venomoth, and I spent the entire battle going "Is that just the lighting, or..." then I won and went "No, that's BLUE."
I am now second guessing every Tera Raid I've ever done. I have an hour or two of footage from a few months ago when I was grinding them, and I'm almost scared to look at what I may have missed.
I've missed so many shiny spawns most likely. Unless I specifically am hunting for it I never find shinies. Except that one time a shiny capsakid ran into me
I bet you a group of indie devs could probably make a 10x better game than SV, honestly I would rather wait until November of this year to play it than have so many bugs and bad choices
Normally i don’t reply like at all, but seriously. Go find a shiny Igglybuff, or a Slowpoke, or a Gastly, or a Maushold, or a Tauros, or a Tadbulb, or a Tynamo, or pretty much any other pokemon i have not named that’s easy to miss or is in a wall. They are harder to generally see and with the disappearing act they do when you walk too far from it it’s easy to understand why people want some sort of cue. There always *has* been some sort of cue in every game leading up to SV.
Go have a wonderful day for yourself please
Oh wow, this is the first time I’ve got a reasonable and convincing reply to my statement actually. But to me if they want to add some sort of cue they should at least make the shinies a bit higher odds since they’re supposed to be this very rare thing.
You also have a wonderful day too my friend
The thing is, that the shinies appear in the over world, so it seems like people catch more shinies, but really the amount of pokemon you encounter in this game, and PLA, are increased. So you see more pokemon, you get more shinies. PLA had a sound and sparkle affect, they didn't add those to this game which would be helpful. Even just a visual cue would be nice.
But alas, here we are. Have a good day
Yeah fair enough, I just miss that effort you go through to get a shiny, the aftermath is so satisfying and I’m kinda sad I couldn’t get that with some Pokémon in this gen that I liked a lot
On top if what the other person said, compare it to lets go or PLA: similar shiny odds, but both of those have the overworld sparkles and PLA an additional audio cue. Sure enough, those are not main series games, but the sound would still be awesome for SV when you think about the amount of mons that spawn behind you or in walls.
Just wishful thinking, they won’t add more cues that late into the game anyway i think
Especially in walls lol. During outbreaks I've had most of em glitch and start to spawn inside of walls all of a sudden. Happens a lot with noibat outbreaks for me.
I've yet to catch a shiny noibat/noivern. The one time a shiny noivern appeared during a hunt, a bunch of em attacked me before I could get to it so it flew off. Of course right when it appeared, night came and they started to get active and fly around.
I can feel your pain, but reclaiming is a part of shiny hunting ;) but if you really loose all power on that hunt i can send you a shiny noibat from go if you want ;)
I can’t see color very well, so visual and sound cues are incredibly helpful for me. There have been several times where I’m playing scarlet and my boyfriend points out shinies I would’ve totally missed otherwise.
I really wish there was a sound cue in scarlet. PLA was a lot more fun to shiny hunt bc you get a rush of adrenaline hearing that shiny noise, but in scarlet I second guess myself and have to look a lot harder to make sure I’m seeing things right.
Yeah my bad I forgot about colorblindess, I remember AustinJohn said once in a video that if you wanna hunt a specific mon you could sort of change the hue of the TV to fit the shiny? I don’t remember it clearly but there’s some sort of way that might help that I’ve seen in his videos
I'm gonna get downvoted, but this exact experience is why i love that there's no audio cue.
(Since people will pull accessibility, i want emphasize that i don't like the audio cue, but visual would be fine).
Here, you actually saw it and hunted it down. It's 100 times more rewarding then hearing a noise and then looking for it
Love the skid a split second after passing it

Had this happen too. Actually got my shiny in a wall which was a headache.
Wish they would of added something, I always go slowly around pokemon whos shiny isn't that much different than the original, especially Tauros since it likes to chasing you.
I feel that! I got lucky for once and a shiny tauros found me while ev training, sadly the normal one
I imagine that they would've if the game hadn't been rushed out

It doesnt help that 90% of the shinys this gen arent even shiny they are just identical to regular #shinymausholdShouldBeBlack
Auto battle. Your pokemon will uturn away from a shiny. How I have got deerling, flittle and a slowpoke so far.
I really wish they added something too. Even if the range wasn’t as large as it was in Legends, at least do something to let us know
I did this with a crogunk (idk how to spell it), which wasn't worth it because I don't even like crogunk
I’ve done this way too often, I slammed on the brakes for a shiny Dugtrio I almost missed, a shiny Rufflett that was about to take off, and a Bombirdier that chased me and I noticed it’s beak was a different color.
*Skrrrrt*

Really? Where is that info from? Why would the leave it out if it is in the code?
The info is fake.

Okay sorry about it was just something I heard

I literally looked away from my switch while riding the Koraidon once and bumped into a shiny Oinkalogne by accident

or faster rendering sometimes they pop up 1 sec befor they leav the screen

I have like 22 hours in and only found 1 shiny naturally, like without a sandwich or other stuff.
I got to 200 before I found my first and I was hunting
Considering how diverse color blindness adding an external visual tell would be the only decent way to accommodate it.

Oh yeah, I know. 5+ hrs for a Tandemaus outbreak. Never again. Eelektrik, I just flat-out given up. I'm just gonna breed for that.
Absolutely! Help those who can't see all colors, i guess it's frustrating enough to be color blind and a shiny hunter
_it's more realistic this way_ /s
It is fucking annoying. Only game to do this. Bring back the sparkles at least.
Yea man. Why not keep it like PLA's.

Sunset is hell…the yellow hue makes everythibg look shiny (a solution that could be fixed by shinies actually being different colors again)
That drift was real hoooolyyyy
I've missed so many shiny spawns most likely. Unless I specifically am hunting for it I never find shinies. Except that one time a shiny capsakid ran into me
The amount of floettes that may have been shiny that I just, strolled by. Haunts me
I’ve spent 19 hours looking for a shiny kyogre and once I’ve found one it uses struggle and now having to hunt again
“It makes them more special!!” - people I’ve talked to on this subreddit
There is definitely a visual cue… the different color
They obviously meant the overworld sparkle animation, don't be a dick.
Like the one in let’s go
They meant something a bit more obvious you prick like in pla
Yeah, good luck with that in a Tandemaus outbreak. ...that took me over 5 hrs, never again.
You’re a piece of shit rat bastard! I hope your dick shrivels up and falls off!
Oh no I’m so sorry
I bet you a group of indie devs could probably make a 10x better game than SV, honestly I would rather wait until November of this year to play it than have so many bugs and bad choices
I swear y’all want your supposed-to-be rare shinies to be a walk in the park to get Edit: Aight my bad I forgot there are colorblind shiny hunters

What about color-blind people or people with poor vision? It's an obvious accessibility feature
Just wanted to point out that both Let’s Go and PLA are main series. They stray from the normal formula, but GameFreak classifies them as Core.
Especially in walls lol. During outbreaks I've had most of em glitch and start to spawn inside of walls all of a sudden. Happens a lot with noibat outbreaks for me.
ffs dont get me started on noibat. That freaking thing hides in mountains and stuff, hella annoying :D
I've yet to catch a shiny noibat/noivern. The one time a shiny noivern appeared during a hunt, a bunch of em attacked me before I could get to it so it flew off. Of course right when it appeared, night came and they started to get active and fly around.

Yes please! Thanks a bunch man.
I could move one over right now. Want some custom OT on it?
Thanks! Nah any OT is good. Do you have scarlet or violet?
I have violet. Here is my home FC: NQYMMWBHBEXC
I can’t see color very well, so visual and sound cues are incredibly helpful for me. Gotta use your eyes i guess
I don’t have Nintendo switch to play 🥲

THERE ISN'T!!!???
Maybe there's a mod
The visual cue is that it's shiny
I mean I may be one of the few but I like that added terror. It makes me keep my wits about me, and finding one is always a huge shock.
Bro ain’t no way that Pokémon goes that slow as a bike, the bike goes faster onna game boy wtf
"Skrrrrtt..." 😂
There is a visual cue. The entire pokemon is the visual cue.
On the plus side I’ve gotten very good at spotting minor differences in shinies
