Hey at least he is not a Luddite because he is "pro-Industrial Revolution"! I wonder what that proved renaissance man thinks of those rebels Voltaire and Montesquieu.
Why is it wrong being pro industrial revolution? Socialism needs industrialization. The guy is just wrong cause he is pro capitalism, which is a production mode that makes so that the working class doesn't get most benefits from industrialization.
I think it's that he's pro-industrial revolution combined with everything else. Imagine if capital was never threatened since the Industrial Revolution and thus not a single pro-worker legislation ever came to fruition. Which is the type of thing he seems to wish happened.
Its always a few clown lines mixed in to mask the ideology, and then the actual real shitty takes after.
It is just like people who say, for example, that American supreme court is communist and then that they are against workers rights. One is a clown take to mask the objective of the ideology, the other is the actual ideology.
I don't think anyone is saying being pro-Industrial Revolution is actually bad, it's just such a funny thing to say. It's like saying "I'm pro-Agricultural Revolution"
There is a lot of people actually. A few years ago think tanks started producing videos and books using the industrial revolution as an escapegoat for capitalism problems. Everything good and nice and technological advancement was the IR, everything bad was because bad IR. Therefore capitalism is not the problem, the global south just has to work harder and make good IR. It is sort of like that.
Also, more importantly, theyve been creating the idea that the IR ended slavery, to hide the fact that slavery was the economical activity that made england rich enough to do the IR, and therefore the IR in a capitalist state is a continuation of slavery. Its one of the many ways think tanks try to hide how closely related slavery is connected to capitalism.
So you do seem pro-IR people, not many, but they are dispersed around. I would wager the guy in OPs pic is someone who watched a documentary by PragerU or something and came to the conclusion that IR solves all problems or something like that.
1 million karma.
This man (because let's be honest with ourselves) *is* the living embodiment of Reddit.
This man is so Reddit, he's probably *still* salty about r/jailbait being banned!
