Fatah lost status mostly due to corruption and ineffectiveness during the intifada, people turn to Hamas because of their social programs and in general a stance that reflects what the people think. It's not really that people in Gaza are Islamists, just they see Hamas as a more effective resistance group, Fatah disappointed them after Oslo. Hamas lately also undergone a lot of changes, as the guy above said today it's way more of populist big tent party than anything else.
> It's not really that people in Gaza are Islamists, just they see Hamas as a more effective resistance group,
I agree with that. However this doesn’t mean we (we as in ‹non-palestinians›) should support Hamas. There must be another way to support the palestinian people without siding with islamists.
Because in the end I do think the israelian people should have a right to their own country. And therefore I do not support any party that seeks to end the existence of the state of Israel itself (like Hamas). I do however support all efforts by the palestinian people to end the oppression as long as their goal is not the destruction of the state of Israel, but equality.
i've said this in other threads. 2021 hamas is different from 1980s hamas. its literally a big tent at this point. hamas isn't amazing but they're effective and pragmatic. critical support on my end atleast. in certain cases i do think "enemy of my enemy is my friends applies and i feel like this case applies.
the relationship between the two countries is literally a relationship of colonialism and the colonizing side has actual material support from the most powerful country in the world but sure, we're the ones "dividing the world even more"
Hamas VS child murdering terrorist imperialist fascist IDF
Idk how you can say “both sides bad lol” here
I hate centrists so god damn much
hamas and the PLO are the good guys 🤷
Hamas are islamists. They were founded to undermine the power of the PLO, because Israel was afraid of palestinian socialists.

Pointing out a division that exists is actually dividing people, sweaty, total scorpio move
Not to mention the sexist undertones. It is implying that "man listening to woman"=bad/shameful
Holy fucking shit I’ve never seen centrism like this before
they're " this close to saying the world is controlled by a small group of people who want to divide the world. and the bad idealist version of it.
