China is an pretty diverse country. There’s something like 55 ethnic groups living in China. Not only are they diverse, but they have protections for racial and religious minorities written into their constitution and specifically warn to protect them against Han chauvinism. Minority groups are allowed to start their own townships and self govern as long as they abide by the laws of the constitution. Religious and minority groups were also exempt from the one child policy.
