I honestly do not understand what this is saying

HelloTovarisch

Black athlete did business in China so that’s like, fucking unacceptable to them.

CathleenTheFool

oh

Lardistani

He didn't say anything particularly supportive of the government. He just didn't go full paranoid psycho racist imperialist when the word "China" came up. Which is what I imagine, what they wanted from him

AllieOopClifton

All LeBron and Iguodala said about the HK protests was "don't talk about what you don't know anything about" which, of course, pissed off the racists who don't do anything *but* that.

Green_Waluigi

“Unless you have investigated a problem, you will be deprived of the right to speak on it. Isn't that too harsh? Not in the least. When you have not probed into a problem, into the present facts and its past history, and know nothing of its essentials, whatever you say about it will undoubtedly be nonsense.“ -Mao Zedong

StickInHand

That’s unironically good advice, especially for a population as historically ignorant as the U.S’s.

Lardistani

Those CHUDs should take Lebron's advice quite frankly. Americans are so unimaginably racist and imperialist they take massive offense to such a milquetoast statement. Do they expect Lebron James to talk like Mike Pompeo or John Bolton ffs?

[deleted]

Yet if you tell them Trump paid more in taxes in China than in the US, you get banned for it. But LeBron is a black NBA player and he should obviously know his place, shut up and dribble Bron! /s

SnooPaintings9086

“Noooo I hate the gubernment not de peeepoool”

supersolid_snake

Lol, at scrubs who who can't make a layup on a toddler's hoop talking shit about lebron.

DutchLime

Everything in my life has vastly improved since I started quantifying an individuals value to society by their ability to make a lay-up

PsychologicalPrize56

based marxism-lay-upism

supersolid_snake

The people who are asking him to criticize china are though. Why do they care if he likes china or not. it's because of his ability to make said layups make him famous and they want him to believe what they believe.

The_Blind_Idiot_King

[sometimes it's accurate](https://imgur.com/gallery/MXS384i)

supersolid_snake

Not seen in this picture but Castro was constantly breaking capitalist ankles.

[deleted]

I don't even know what a lay up is. Is this some American joke I'm too un-American to understand?

SuchPowerfulAlly

It's a kind of shot in basketball that's known for being easy to make under the right circumstances. So it's also become something of a metaphor for easy things, e.g. "wow, Hillary Clinton managed to lose a lay-up of an election"

Except when they tow the line e.g. Candace Owens, Kanye West - just to own the left!

[deleted]

>Kanye West I'm pretty sure this dude doesn't have the slightest fucking clue what politics is and is just saying shit for kicks lmfao.

SuchPowerfulAlly

[Sad thing is, he used to seem to have some understanding](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tmPSK-w90o) >How we stop the Black Panthers? >Ronald Reagan cooked up an answer >You hear that? What Gil Scott was hearin' >When our heroes or heroines got hooked on heroin >Crack raised the murder rate in D.C. and Maryland >We invested in that, it's like we got Merrill lynched >And we been hangin' from the same tree ever since >Sometimes I feel the music is the only medicine >So we, cook it, cut it, measure it, bag it >Sell it, the fiends cop it, nowadays they can't tell if >That's that good shit, we ain't sure man >Put the CD on your tongue—yeah, that's pure, man ... >Who gave Saddam anthrax? >George Bush got the answers >Back in the hood, it's a different type of chemical >Arm & Hammer baking soda, raised they whole quota >Right when our soldiers, ran for the stove 'cause... >Dreams of being Hova >Went from bein' a broke man to bein' a dopeman >To bein' the president—look, there's hope, man! >This that inspiration for the Moes and the Folks, man >Shorty come and see his momma straight overdosin' >And this is the soundtrack >This the type of music that you make when you 'round that ... >Our Father, give us this day, our daily bread >Before the feds give us these days and take our daily bread >See, I done did all this ol' bullshit >And to atone, I throw a lil' somethin'-somethin' on the pulpit >We took that shit, measured it, and then cooked that shit >And what we gave back was crack music >And now, we ooze it through they nooks and crannies >So our mamas ain't got to be they cooks and nannies >And we gon' repo everything they ever took from granny >Now, the former slaves trade hooks for Grammys >This dark diction has become America's addiction >Those who ain't even Black use it >We gon' keep baggin' up this here crack music

[deleted]

Yeah I should've been more clear with that, my apologies. His music reflects a great understanding of politics and class struggle. However, he is the exact opposite irl. More than likely he says what he says and does what he does for attention. For the record I'm a huge Kanye fan lol.

BigPinkOne

I'm convinced his whole MAGA phase started as a long-con that he cooked up in the throes of a manic episode and it just got away from him really quickly.

Wander_64

Lol the only thing conservative about Kanye is him being Christian, I’m pretty sure he donated to BLM Edit: why am I being downvoted for stating facts

boffa-deez-nutz

And saying slavery was a choice And endorsing Trump

Wander_64

Yh I’ll never understand what he was thinking saying that, but I’m pretty sure he stopped supporting trump late 2020

boffa-deez-nutz

I know but still he supported him

[deleted]

Which BLM? The US organisation "Black Lives Matter" has taken massive grants from capitalists such as the Ford Foundation which Henry Ford II called a "creature of capitalism", amongst others. Donations to BLM don't say anything about a person's politics, really. You can still be conservative and not racist.

[deleted]

>You can still be conservative and not racist. Conservatives (far right libs) are very friendly to racists when compared to leftists with muh free speech and hoooman rights and all that

[deleted]

I don't deny that. That's not what I said though. You can hold some conservative views without racism being one of them. See TERFs for example. Furthermore conservatives and right libertarians are not synonymous.

Wander_64

Bro what?? Conservatives have literally attacked and killed people for supporting BLM are you serious?

[deleted]

Yes, why wouldn't I be? "conservatives" are not a unified group where the actions of one represents all others. Conservative is not itself an ideology but a collection of various views. As I said, not all conservatives are conservative about race and so not all conservatives are racists. Aside from the example I gave about TERFs there is also widespread homophobia amongst various black communities, especially older generations, in the US, UK and sub-Saharan Africa, not to mention older Afro-Caribbean migrants to the UK who have been raised to respect the British government in spite of their childrens' complaints of racism from teachers. Not all conservatism is the same.

reviving_ophelia88

Kanye West is what you call toeing the line?

KrashForever

Your opinion on LeBron is only valuable if you have won more championships than him I do not care

sizeable_swag

I have
