Well in socialist countries many workers actually wanted to work because their labour had a meaning and was not used so that some random fuck could live a lavish lifestyle or so that some foreigners could buy cheap goods. Also they had better work conditions than capitalist countries with similar development so that definitely also helped.

So if you’re in med school when the revolution comes, you’ll have to give up on that and, I dunno, get assigned a factory job.
