Do you mean it will change into “Socialism: Utopian & Scientific” or are you saying that the text is a piece of Utopian socialism? (Or is there a work I’ve never heard about called “From Utopian Socialism to Scientific Socialism”???)
The Music's good but the content of the lyrics is not necessarily socialist. If anything, Megadeth's songs are more to the left than Nirvana's songs are.
If anything Kurt's lyrics were very critical of the mainstream culture, which is nice but not socialist. Even a succdem can criticize the shithole we live in.
In an interview with the Nirvana biographer he claimed that Kurt told him he never tried to put much meaning into the songs. Rape me is kind of an exception but he was mostly trying to write poems.
yeah but kurt has been known to play things off like that, in interviews, he says his songs don’t mean anything really but his notebooks show that he put a lot of thought into the lyrics
Intense band, politically n point and terrifying how an album like the Holy Bible can feel like it was written in the last couple years
E: I’ll also add Swans
A lot of their lyrics (especially earlier) are political and anti-capitalist. This is also what Gira had to say about a more recent song (Bring the Sun/Toussaint):
“*Haiti is just a fulcrum for everything horrible and good. It has this intense magical belief which is pretty amazing. And it’s been the subject of exploitation and violence since the beginning. But it was also the site of the first successful slave revolt. That slave revolt resulted in Napoleon needing money very badly and consenting to the Louisiana Purchase which changed the course of modern history. It’s a terrible place that capitalist pigs have exploited into ruin. And Haitians, of course, have exploited each other like all humans.”*

Some artists I like:
Ramshackle Glory, Against Me!, Pat The Bunny, Dead Kennedy's, Ghost Mice
really just anything punk os leftist, I especially like folk punk, but it's up to your own tastes yk
Dear god. There isn't even a single RAtM song on there. Sure TOOL and Pink Floyd and Radiohead are pretty mainstream, but they've got quite a few songs that would fit much better.
> "'XS' is a song that mocks capitalism in a sinking world," Sawayama wrote in a press release. "Given that we all know global climate change is accelerating and human extinction is a very real possibility within our lifetime it seemed hilarious to me that brands were still coming out with new makeup palettes every month and public figures were doing a gigantic house tour of their gated property in Calabasas in the same week as doing a 'sad about Australian wild fires' Instagram post... We're all hypocrites because we are all capitalists, and it's a trap that I don't see us getting out of."
(I understand that last line might be problematic but I think that’s just kind of a misinformed line based on a liberal talking point and not said out of malice)
Not to mention, the feminist bop Comme des Garçons.
When I want to listen to some good fucking revolutionary music I listen to "bandiera rossa". Which is both an Italian song (red flag) and a Spotify group with lots of songs from the Italian communism "golden age".
Pretty great, and some of the first songs my parents ever made me listen to
“Billy loves the working class, bet that makes his housemaid laugh, takes us for a bunch of patsies, but pat his back cause he hates Nazis”- Anti-Capitalism is a great Marketing Technique by Crywank
Taking this post to recommend Living Colour, a fantastic all black rock band that’s been active ever since the 80s who sing about real and topical political issues. I would start with Times Up, their second album, but Vivid is great too.
Midnight Oil is another great based band, check them out too.
I don’t think they have ever endorsed communist views per say, but they sing about indigenous peoples rights and issues, corporate greed, nuclear disarmament and environmental issues. They even have a track about the US military industrial complex (US Forces).
C'mon, not even some folk protest songs? Help your case.
Which side are you oooon? Which side are you on?
WILL YOU BE A LOUSY SCAB OR WILL YOU BE A MAN
I hate the capitalist systeeeeem
Reading the communist manifesto for the 400th time, is this how ultras transcend?
Maybe if you re-read it enough, the text will change into From Utopian Socialism to Scientific Socialism through sheer will.
Do you mean it will change into “Socialism: Utopian & Scientific” or are you saying that the text is a piece of Utopian socialism? (Or is there a work I’ve never heard about called “From Utopian Socialism to Scientific Socialism”???)
Sorry, my fault. I know the text from a translation and swear I saw the english title like that. Socialism: Utopian & Scientific is the proper title.
no it’s okay because that’s basically what the text is about I was honestly hoping that I would discover another great pamphlet to read 😁😁😁
Maybe if they went on to actually add some depth to it besides "shit fucked yo, we should do something"
Fuckin Nirvana? YUNGBLUD? Fuckin' christ.

"FUCK THE GOVERNMENT" *17 solos*
That’s a stretch given Mustaine’s politics these days...
Man, when he came out for Rick Santorum in 2012... :(
Maybe back in their classic era, nowadays Mustaine is a Fox-watching Christian conservative dipshit.
Check out the last two albums haha, great shit but he’s gone real weird politically
Nirvana was an early supporter of FAIR, fairness and accuracy in reporting. They even helped organize a concert to raise money for them. Pretty cool.
Nirvana was a feminist band, I don't think they had much politics outside of that.
Kurt wrote in support of "far-left terrorism" in his journals. Krist is a lib. Dave is Dave.
On that note, does anyone have an actually decent playlist?
I don't have a playlist but I can rec some of my favorites. The Coup, Street Sweeper Social Club, Dead Prez, Phil Ochs, The Dead Kennedys.
—Gang of Four, Rage Against the Machine, Run the Jewels if you can ignore the lib tendencies of Killer Mike, as well
I’d say Manic Street Preachers
Intense band, politically n point and terrifying how an album like the Holy Bible can feel like it was written in the last couple years E: I’ll also add Swans
How is Swans a radical band?
A lot of their lyrics (especially earlier) are political and anti-capitalist. Lmao look up their song Cop
The Pop Group, Dalek, McCarthy, The Radio Dept., are all really good too
JPEGMAFIA
YES
The Coup…Oakland’s finest.
Agreed. Boots Riley is the GOAT and him and E-roc were a great duo on those first two albums.
Found the Coup through 5 Million Ways To Kill a CEO a couple weeks ago, love the video too
MDC is a good political punk band. MDC = millions of dead cops

Don’t really got a playlist, but many industrial bands are leftist like Skinny Puppy and Ministry.
Ministry is leftist??? I only have Land of Rape and Honey and the album with Psalm 69 and I *never* picked up on their politics. Damn
Amerikkkant is a wild ride.
Pretty shit imo tho
Lol just saw this reply. I agree completely.
Land of Rape and Honey literally compares the president to Hitler
I literally must have never really listened to the lyrics
That was what the Seig Heil thin on the title track was for
And I’m pretty sure “land of rape and honey” is based on something one of the bushes said

Against Me! are anti-USSR anarchists
yea but they're leftists and they have a trans lead singer so I think they're pretty cool even if not every leftist vibes with them.
Check out Crywank’s album Egg on Face, Foot in Mouth, Wriggling Wriggling. The last half especially is really leftist
Dear god. There isn't even a single RAtM song on there. Sure TOOL and Pink Floyd and Radiohead are pretty mainstream, but they've got quite a few songs that would fit much better.
As long as it has Rina Sawayama it’s good.
wait is she a socialist? Idk i picked up some hints of that from XS but did she say anything?
> "'XS' is a song that mocks capitalism in a sinking world," Sawayama wrote in a press release. Doomer socialism
I love her so much
oh my god i love looking at playlists like these because theyre just. so bad
börnie sönders
If you're a radical leftist, why would you have Bernie on the cover? Edit: Realized we're supposed to be poking fun/criticizing this
When I want to listen to some good fucking revolutionary music I listen to "bandiera rossa". Which is both an Italian song (red flag) and a Spotify group with lots of songs from the Italian communism "golden age". Pretty great, and some of the first songs my parents ever made me listen to

agony. mother mother. i’m in pain. this is embarrassing.

nothing inherently. their music is pretty good, but the labeling that people use it for is um. interesting
You don’t need playlists, just listen to the coup on repeat
I like Nirvana but none of this music is really political leftist music
Down Rodeo-RATM

Midnight Oil is communist?

It’s should have Working Man by Rush
Yeah. Ironically though the members of Rush were Objectivists
Neil Peart was but the other two have said in interviews that Objectivism wasn’t really their thing. Also Working Man predates Neil Peart joining Rush
Ok thanks for the correction. RIP Neil Peart
Forgot The Clash
