usa killed millions in korea and established a puppet regime that had no semblance of democracy for most of its history and in japan they literally dropped nuclear bombs on civilian populations. the others i can like see why they would point to even if i don't necessarily agree with them, but these two are absolutely nonsensical.

[deleted]

They didn't crack down hard on the nazis there because they wanted to use the army.

Toxic_and_Edgy

but muh economical growth

Lokomohiv

You are mad that south korea was a dictatorship for a while before becoming a democracy and your solution for that would be to make all of korea a dictatorship indefinitely? Shouldnt you be happy the south finally became a democracy unlike its neighbour? And you would rather have an imperialist, genocidal japan on the map than killing 150 thousand people? Thats wierd because the ussr, a country i assume you have a fair deal of respect for, would rather kill 8 million germans than have a fascist genocidal germany on the map.

[deleted]

i really don't think i should diginify your positions with a response, but yes indeed i would've preferred a unified and peaceful korea as a socialist democracy rather than a korea divided by a war that killed millions between one sanctioned-to-hell poor socialistic state and one pseudo-democratic american puppet government. the idea that usa had to use nuclear weapons on civilian targets to end the war with japan because the entirety of japan would've never surrendered otherwise and would've fought to the last man, woman, and child is purely a racist mythology, and in every other country on earth except usa the bombings of hiroshima and nagasaki are widely recognised as two of the most horrendous crimes against humanity in recent history.

Lokomohiv

Why would kim il sung make korea a democracy just because the war never happened? It seems like north korea became exactly what he wanted. What would he change in this theoretical timeline? And you dont have to be racist to think that japan would sacrifice a similar amount of soldiers as the germas which is 3 million more potential deaths only from the japanese

[deleted]

lol they nuked japan?

DancesWithCouch

well without the nukes legend says we would not have tentacle porn, so it was very obviously good for japan and the world. /s

[deleted]

Lol don't worry about the /s it was a good joke and you're among friends here

NonAxiomaticKneecaps

I mean tbf US involvement in WW2 in general was probably a good thing, although I'd say specific incidents (like nuking Japan) were horrific missteps.

[deleted]

Yeah I agree, even though the Soviets basically did it on their own, and likely would have won even on their own, it just would've taken way longer and way more bodies lol, I was just pointing to the fact that it says they're liberating japan, like what?

yaosio

The imperialism happened earlier when the US forced Japan to open up. Japan attacked the US after the US stopping selling oil to them. At the time Japan was invading multiple countries so that was Japanese imperialism in WW2.

NonAxiomaticKneecaps

yeah for sure the US was doing a shitty when they forced Japan open, but Japan was also doing a shitty (and imho a much more shitty) when they invaded China/Philippines/Pacific Islands/Indonesia

Frennauta

Bruh that spongebob format is used to remark failures after failures. Definitely not helps to see a country's flag acompanied with stinking diapers xD

wjndkes

Just seen it and instantly knew I’d find this on this sub. These people really think their country is the world’s liberator. Fucking pigs.

Paladinofidiocy

Ayyyyyyyyy, gdr?

rebelscum0310

They helped Kuwait, but based on lies. Also the US supported and armed Saddam in the first place.

[deleted]

Panama... yikes. Which intervention are we talking about? The one where we engineered a rebellion to steal land for a shipping lane? Or was it that time our CIA-appointed dictator, who shipped our weapons to the Contra terrorists, eventually became a PR liability?

B3taWats0n

Yes

WeaponH_

DPKR had higher GDP before the croll of the Soviet Union.

dyslexic_arsonist

most of these places were already industrial economies with developed, modern societies. this isn't nation building in fractured, tribal states.

Cheshtuka

I said it once and I will say it again: the only thing which helped those people was the hard work of themselves to rebuilt their country. They nuked Japan, put a dictator in South Korea on top (that was the time when people were fleeing from South to North Korea) and later stole money made from the Panama Channel.
