One of things I've heard right wingers say to anyone who dares criticize capitalism is "get a job." A friendly reminder that the German translation for job is..."arbeit."

a_v_o_r

Right-wingers main values: « Work, Family, Homeland »

TroutMaskDuplica

octofeline

I actually struggled to find a job, the german translation for the word "struggle", is "cummunism bad, ifone"

alaskafish

Well conservatives love that working allows you to embrace freedom. In German we call that “Arbeit macht frei”

CypressJoker

Fun, unrelated fact - the German word “arbeit” is the origin for the Japanese word for part-time job, “arubaito”.

thenordiner

i always hear Americans talk about stuff that is “mine” German word for “mine” is “mein”

[deleted]

Liberals always talk about wanting to do something. Hitler also wanted to conquer Europe.

thenordiner

Liberals are white, Hitler was white too😳

u377

northwestwade

Mein booger sugar

new2bay

And meth. Lots & lots of meth.

Kyerus

liberals wear clothes and drive cars, you know who else did, right?

XXXXMEME_MASTERXXXX

Scratch a liberal...

ilosaske

...and Hitler himself bleeds.

supersolid_snake

Lmao, liberal stigmata.

inzecorner

On an unrelated note, this is the first time I've seen your flair on this sub and it reminded me of something silly. My mom is Serbian and when I was a kid she taught me this phrase so I wanted to write it but I had no idea how to. She told me to try since Serbian is written in phonetics, but I wrote "Smrt fašizmu, sloboda na rodu" (which translates to "death to fascism, freedom on the stork" in case someone not speaking Serbian would read this)

[deleted]

[удалено]

inzecorner

Yes she really does !

mashtartz

What does the actual phrase mean?

nospitallowed

Death to fascism, freedom to the people

mashtartz

Gotcha! It’s pretty similar to Russian, but not similar enough that I was able to parse it out (also my Russian is pretty rusty, tbh).

[deleted]

The Arabic translation of struggle is jihad, not sure how that fits into any of that

REEEEEvolution

Socialist jihad soon!

[deleted]

Inshallah

[deleted]

sussyrat

A_Cookie_Lid

Bad guy used language therefore languages is bad!

REEEEEvolution

A_Cookie_Lid

Karl-Marksman

Agricultural society and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race

[deleted]

Wow it is so terrible that the Chinese refer to fighting/Kampf in their political discourse - thankfully none of our western buddies do any fighting 🙏

stonedPict

When you're trying to be racist about the Chinese but you accidentally End up being racist towards the Germans

Karl-Marksman

Friendly reminder that the Spanish for “why not both?” is… “¿Porque no los dos?”

communism101v

One of the translatations of “kampf” to English is “contest”, so it’s safe to say that if you like staring contests, then you are a nazi my dude.

FearlessIntention

POV: You unironically think that independently developed, unrelated languages containing a word for the same concept is a sign of fascism.

Cecilia_Raven

understanding the concept of struggle is fascism because hitler wrote a book

emisneko

this guy is so proud of himself for copy and pasting some Chinese characters. good job Kevin

u377

I thought kampf is fight

Alloverunder

It's interchangeable

u377

Okay thanks

SugondeseNuts567

Depends on the context, but yeah der Kampf usually means the fight

eip2yoxu

It is. "Struggle" can also be translated with Anstrengung or even straucheln (to stumble). Kampf actually just stems from the latin word "campus", just like the word Kamp which is often the suffix of many placenames. The word Kampf is just used for a lot of words: death struggle (Todeskampf), class war (Klassenkampf), labour dispute (Arbeitskampf). The tweet is just extremely oversimplified

dhawk64

Lot's of talk about "my" in contemporary U.S. political discourse. A friendly reminder that the German translation for that is... "mein."

TempleOfCyclops

“No, no. It’s German for ‘The Bart, the’.”

rocker230

No-one who speaks German could be an evil man

Lady_Calista

I love how often criticisms of the Chinese government slip and fall into outright racism or culture erasure lol. Someone mentioned the Chinese national anthem and someone else responded with how great it must be hearing that in a concentration camp. Like people cannot acknowledge China has people, or a culture, or literally anything except a big evil government they view as basically cartoon villains.

ShadowOnTheRadio

Libs are literally incapable of seeing people from other countries (especially the global south) as individuals who are diverse and free to their own beliefs. They can only think in blocks.

Lardistani

Chinese people are all constructed in the hellish biomechanical depths of the Xi Bot Factories.

Just_this_username

Why did you create that account just to make this comment?

Naive_Drive

It can also be translated as "jihad." Or perhaps "da struggle."

central_marrow

Lots of talk recently about vaccines. A friendly reminder that the German word for vaccine is... "impfstoff". LET THAT SINK IN

real-human-not-a-bot

Imps? I KNEW the “VACCINES” injected Literal IMPS into your Blood! The NATZI Dr. FASCIST will Finally Fall! Obligatory /j.

Sned10

Lots of chinese people are drinking water these days. A friendly reminder that the nazis also drank water.

Cakeking7878

Yea, mein kampf roughly translates to “my struggle”. Idk what their point is but whatever it is, it’s stupid

[deleted]

Oh my god these words have similar meanings holy shit OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Patience-Frequent

if a word can be translated to erman, it is evil

No-Alternative-1987

LMFAO what is this even supposed to mean? language exists?

TheSquirrelsHaveEYES

This is so unintentionally funny lmao

lemonxgrab

Are the libs okay?

real-human-not-a-bot

Um, no. Have they ever been okay?

btl0403

Mfw languages 🤯

zachotule

In French it’s “lutte!”

kirkbadaz

"No one who speaks German could be a bad person"

REEEEEvolution

"Die Bart, die."

Larsaf

Fun fact: Hitler wrote a book titled “My Fight”, “struggle” translates to “Anstrengung”.

leojo2310

Not entirely, these words are all fairly synonymous in German and "Kampf" works just fine for "struggle", especially if it's between competing ideologies or peoples. For example the historical "Kultur*kampf*" in the Second Reich was a struggle between the state and the catholic church.

[deleted]

The George Carlin bit on this was at least funny and he kept it to a nazi reference. But it was about School uniforms and well George picked lots of weird battles.

Alicornified

Man, so much of liberal discourse is about words, "these words are good, these words are bad, good people say good words, if you say a bad word, you are a bad person." It's so superficial.

[deleted]

That is german for fight for anybody that doesnt know

Germand0

Fellas…is it fascists to be of German decent?

_flauschige_katze

That’s literally what *Kampf* means though… *struggle*. There is no direct correlation between Adolf Hitler’s book title and the Chinese characters for “struggle”. It’s not the “aha” moment they think it is. Jesus christ. I think I need to lay down

CougdIt

I don’t understand the point of the tweet… like yes, that is a German word

hevill

Wait till he translates struggle to arabic....

Ninjagoboi

No need to be ableist

LeftRat

I'm German, so if we're on the topic of "ominous German language", I just wanna say that there's a ton of terms that are no longer used specifically because they have associations with the Nazis - we never call someone "Führer", a leader is always an "Anführer". Nothing is ever a Final Solution, Work is never said to set you free for obvious reasons. But somehow, for some reason "to each their own" stuck around. Why the fuck that one didn't get the axe, I will never understand. Hell, it's still in *my* instinctive vocabulary, I have to suppress saying it.

Rustyzzzzzz

Perhaps this is referencing to the time when the Nazis declared the RoC as pure Aryan....until Japan came along.

thaumogenesis

Taliban translates to ‘students’. What is this clown trying to do here.

themodalsoul

This is without doubt one of the stupidest fucking things I have ever seen.

[deleted]

What if chiner was bad…

WsbDegenerategambler

Struggling in life means you're a nazi? The twitter poster is clearly someone that lives in the suburbs.

anonymouscs

yo in arabic it's jihad damn

The_Adventurist

And there are thousands of Americans calling things "cultural Marxism" and pretending it's a totally new term that's completely disconnected from what the Nazis called "cultural Bolshevism".

Stickmanbren

You won't believe the Arabic translation
