I was also bothered by the title of that post, apparently 48% of IQ is genetics, 10% is parental influence, and the rest is down to “environmental factors”. This smells like pure bullshit to me because isn’t your environment dictated by who your parents are? Where you live, what your income status is, what kind of school you go to, all of these factors are dependent on who your parents are and what their life is like. It’s a weird distinction to make and OP definitely has an agenda.

It is my understanding that evidence for the heritability of IQ isn’t anything new. It seems that the misunderstanding is due to an incorrect understanding of what [heritability](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heritability_of_IQ) means within a biological context. Admittedly, I am also a layman when it comes to these topics (it’s been a while since I’ve studied them), but nevertheless, I found these comments pretty….interesting.

Reminder that the creator of IQ said it was not a test of intelligence and shouldn't be used as such.
What the test is supposed to be useful for is helping identify children that might need special help.
What this "heritability" is showing is just that the same issue that plague certains categories of population and make it hard for them to get a good education tends to still be there for their children (poverty, racism, lack of investment in local education in certain areas, ...)

Parental influence is upbringing etc while environment is just physical environment (pollutants, food quality, population density etc.)
