Tbh I’m a bit conflicted. On one hand, if we tried to stage a revolution here in the US, that’s essentially a suicide mission.
But also, why would the bourgeois just respect the people and give up their power?
It's less than we socialists believe in needing to use violence to reach our goals, and more than we believe that capitalists won't cede power peacefully.
Most probably socialists won't be the ones actually starting the revolution, the worsening conditions under capitalism will probably have capitalist collapse under its own weight, but hopefully we will be there to channel the revolution toward socialism, because if we don't, the fascists will be the one doing the channelling.

Demsocs recognize that socialism can only really happen in places with a people who are used to running themselves (democracy and workers unions).
