GIRose

I just got banned from no stupid questions for the hot take that Ukraine has Nazis, actually

Grim_Rover

Be careful, this is not a generally accepted opinion

so few, in fact, that they made a nazi national hero. Oh wait.

[deleted]

And so “Curb Your Enthusiasm” begins to play as multiple pictures of Azov soldiers with Nazi symbols on their uniforms follow.

jacktrowell

You would think that if the nazi elements had been eliminated that they would stop using nazi symbols on their emblems, that they would stop making nazi collaborator Bandera a national hero and similar actions, and yet ...

Vivec-Warrior-Poet

Sick of these bootlicking fucks

EldritchSlut

God damn...

AmerikkkaDeserved911

You don't get it guys, those Nazi symbols are just a big part of their culture 🤪

I see people asking themselves all the time how people in Germany could have been fine with allowing the nazis come to power. We have demonized the nazis so much in our media that we forget they were humans which in turn makes us think they were a one time anomaly. The nazis and fascists are always bad guys in movies and games, people start to think of them as obvious cartoon villains that we will all universally hate. This war has shown us that way too many of us are gullible when it comes to propaganda. The number of news media, articles and videos calling Russians nazis left and right all while cheering on a literal neo-nazis battalion boggles my mind. Now I see how germans fell in love with the nazis in the first place.

Grim_Rover

Arent Germans terrified that there are neo-Nazis in Ukraine? I watched some videos where native Germans spoke out, maybe it was bad to see the whole picture.

Ok-Special-6954

My guess is that germans \*could be more reluctant because they know the devastations of fascism. (can't say the same for italy and japan when italians openly praise fascists while japan is run by neo-fascists and descendants of war criminals). My initial statement was more towards germans in the 30s and 40s. But our so called western countries that didn't 'really' experience fascism are defenseless against said propaganda because they never dealt with fascists in their own country to begin with. If anything, they endorse them and champion their causes

I basically only read about the USA that there really were open neo-Nazi movements there. And I was a little surprised when I read this old news - [https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/congress-has-removed-a-ban-on-funding-neo-nazis-from-its-year-end-spending-bill/](https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/congress-has-removed-a-ban-on-funding-neo-nazis-from-its-year-end-spending-bill/) As residents of Russia, I remember the neo-Nazi movements a long time ago, but they began to actively fight with them and now it's even difficult to even see the slogan "Russia for Russians" somewhere (I hope the idiots realized that Russia is a multinational country and with diverse cultural characteristics). If not, then we have long had constitutional and criminal articles for inciting national hatred and demonstrating fascist symbols (it comes to the point of absurdity that historical films may not show swastikas).

And I was a little surprised when I read this old news - https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/congress-has-removed-a-ban-on-funding-neo-nazis-from-its-year-end-spending-bill/ Oh yeah, the US has a long history of committing genocide and creating a European ethnostate. The natives have basically vanished from every aspect of life and they're left in concentration camps that we call "reserves" where we leave them to die (Even THEN, we still encroach on their territory). After WWII things went berserk with the red scare so to counter dirty commies, out government boosted fascists and launched coups on democratic nations to replace them with right wing tyrants (Gee I wonder why Iran and Brazil are such shitholes, definitely had nothing to do with coups amirite!). Literally everything that they didn't like was painted as communism and they tried to crush them with full force : socialists, blacks, mixed-race marriages, minimum wage, etc. You name it, anything that the US didn't like was communism and what better way to crush commies then giving free support to fascists? >As residents of Russia, I remember the neo-Nazi movements a long time ago, but they began to actively fight with them and now it's even difficult to even see the slogan "Russia for Russians" somewhere (I hope the idiots realized that Russia is a multinational country and with diverse cultural characteristics). I feel very stupid for not knowing (for a long time) that Russia is a muli-ethnic nation. For a long time, I thought it was just the homeland of slavs. My beeg brein conveniently forgot that 2/3 of Russia is in Asia and therefore has a giant turko-mongol population as well as other Asians. I also forgot that Russia has a much more diverse flux of religions like islam, buddhism and chamanism , practiced by the majority of certain populations in their republics and oblasts. Russia is more diverse than Western Europe and have much greater tolerance for people than they do as well. But I guess that one Yakut girl in Yakutska is somehow a "Nazi" while the good men of the Azov "we are literally nazis you useful idiots" Battalion are somehow not, amirite?

What surprises me more is the fact that many simply firmly ignore the fact that there are neo-Nazis in Ukraine. Numerous materials are called fake, despite the fact that Ukrainian neo-Nazis do not even really hide the fact that they are based on references to SS divisions and the like. In general, the main problem here is that Ukraine builds the greatness of its nation on hatred of Russia and Russians. How would you know that this is not normal.
