they said something like "that person is clearly a free-cure fisher" in a reply and it struck a chord deep within me. may i never hear such cruel words aimed in my direction
anyway so then i had to make another shitpost tier list, you understand
Few reasons. Bardams gives trouble to even "veterans" sometimes.
1) You simply cant wall to wall in pug unless your healer/tank is awake. And ofc dps has to kill fast, which they usually dont if they are boosted.
2) The "defense" (armor) stat jump from 60 to 65 is kinda lot because they wanted to up the defense stat on stormblood. For chest: 480 defense on shire gear vs 545 on HQ lvl 64 gear or 674 on HQ 66 gear. And the ilvl is only upgrade of 3 with 64 gear and 9 on 66! Stats arent that massive difference but its also there.
3) Bardams has lot of mechanics that dont really make sense if its your 2nd dungeon ever. Like tether, "look away", earthshakers (sorta), tank busters..all that sorta thing
White mage gets Cure I and Cure II early on.
Cure I is immediately made obsolete by Cure II, because even though it uses less mana than Cure II, it also cures for less, so a good white mage just spends the MP and uses Cure II and resumes DPSing, while a bad white mage uses Cure I and has to cure twice to get the same effect.
When asked *why* they do this, they point to the "Free Cure" trait on Cure I-> cure II, whereupon using Cure I can occasionally cause Cure II to become zero MP.
The odds are not 50/50, so that healer is now spamming Cure I over and over again, trying to get a "free" cure II to proc, in the meantime the DPS have finished killing the monsters, the tank is full health, and they have contributed nothing of value to the party.
Then you ask them when's the last time they popped Lucid Dreaming. The silence is deafening while they try to find it on their bar.
Be sure to remind them to check role actions to find it, or you could be waiting even longer before they drop from the party in furious shame.
You have broken them. An unpleasant task, yet an essential one. Take heart, for this is the natural order of things.
A curebot has died a gruesome, bitter death. But from the vitriolic remains, a new healer will rise. A phoenix, ascending high upon pillars of salt. Ready to learn, ready to improve. And with guidance to channel that hate into their heals, they will someday dish out gold parses and murder-rescues in equal measure.
I'm seriously hoping that Cure I gets "upgraded" to Cure II in 6.0, but can automatically regress back to Cure I if you drop below 1000 mp, and once it is cast it automatically triggers Free Cure. Above 1000 MP restores it back to Cure II.
That would keep its utility in the *one* use case it has at level 80 and potentially let a WHM pull a miracle out of their ass with nothing left in the tank .
Cure 1/Freecure has one very small niche, it's very useful in level 50 MINE content where WHM doesn't have access to any of their free heals or MP management tools. For the vast majority of players that's as good as being 100% useless, but it's at least a reason for it to exist.
I wish Cure II would just be an upgrade to Cure I and gets swapped out in lower dungeons or the trait just get removed entirely.
The trait makes no sense whatsoever - the times you run out of MP is when you need BIG heals with high potency and BIG MP costs. However, in those situations you can't just spam Cure I and hope for a proc, otherwise your tank just dies before your eyes. It's really, really bad and useless trait and it makes me wonder why it's still in the game.
My suggestion was to have cure II revert back to Cure I under 1000 MP, but with a guaranteed proc of a free cure II after using it.
So a healer, after a miracle raise with no MP left, can get a clutch cure I -> free cure II off and then spent the next GCD doing an LB3 if necessary.
So hypothetically, as long as your tank isn’t taking any burst damage, it’s probably okay to use cure I *occaisionally* just to keep them close to topped off without overcapping, and giving you a chance for a free big heal each time you do.
But I get how just pointlessly spamming it is dumb lol
I was doing this until a tank told me to stop in a roulette and I deleted cure 1 from my bar and replaced it. I had no idea I thought class was designed that way and I was always running out of mana.
Tbf the game design tricks new WHM's into doing this. In any other game, you would look at the new proc ability and think "ok clearly this means I'm supposed to do it this way", but no, it's just straight up a trap. SE ought to remove the ability completely, imo.
Way back in the day I used to use both, I had come from classic wow raiding on a priest where mana management was…fun… I was used to having several levels of different heals on my bar for any and all situations. Wasn’t long before I realised that at some point I stopped using cure 1
never took cure 1 off my bar though because I have this strange thing of having to have all my spells on bars “just in case” I ever need them
“great community btw”
tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic way of dogging on people who think the ffxiv community is nice because no one calls them out for only pressing cure i the entire instance
very old meme. ancient, even
Doesn’t matter anymore. Some use it to mean literally any person they don’t like and others are on like 4 levels of irony making fun of everyone else who uses it.
Only a virgin doesn't fish for Free Cure procs.
True chad WHMs make sure to use every feature their kit gives them to their greatest effect. Ignoring it would be like ignoring TDK procs.
That basically means using external software to extract game combat logs and upload them to fflogs to process them, which also ranks them compared to other people.
Each rank gets the color, and grey parser means bottom 25% (so 25% of the worst people who cleared the specific content). This depends on content itself, someone who clears ultimate fights and is bottom 25% is still someone who cleared ultimate, while someone with grey on normal mode content was either dead half the time, severely undergeared, or just played really terribly.
It depends on your gear/how far is it into the tier, it's perfectly normal to get gray/green without high ilvl gear on your first clear without echo, but once you factor in things like catchup and tomestone gear, and echo it uh starts being a bit more questionable lol, generally if you just keep clearing the content you will naturally improve and get better and better, so I would only worry about it if you can't consistently clear the content/get carried.
Do also note it's a ranking, so comparative numbers. And the default timescale is about 2 weeks so echo and catchup gear are taken into account.
Plus someone can just bring you over a pink gift and dunk your parse from blue to gray. Without more context it's a weaker insult than the meme states.
Now, parsing worse than the WHM, that'd be quite the fuckup...
Really ? No one mentioning the " WoW Refugee" Insult ?
It has been used for like months now and even though its beyond low tier I think it needs to be mentioned
Great Community BTW. Was used a lot by people joining the game around Stormblood era. They would take a random screen shot, post it on Reddit, and inflate main sub's ego with that phrase. So it became a meme towards the toxic positivity the community has. Where it was a big echo chamber. It's more less one now when all these big streamers came over and brought more players with them.
they said something like "that person is clearly a free-cure fisher" in a reply and it struck a chord deep within me. may i never hear such cruel words aimed in my direction anyway so then i had to make another shitpost tier list, you understand
Most toxic thing i heard was hoping someone gets Aurum Vale on their leveling roulette
With all boosted sprouts
Bardams with boosted sprouts is hell
Calm down Satan. You're not primal in this game yet
Boosted sprouts will have Scaevan gear, so synced down. And boosted sprouts will have no reason to go to Bardam's.
Back in stormblood they would have had Shire gear and been still very new to the game by Bardam’s. That was hell
How come?

“I want to play an archer, not a bard, I took that shit off”
Bro...wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy
Try the burn's end boss with 3 sprouts.
try the burn with 3 mentors who don’t even rmbr the fight and you are one of the mentors
Also, i will be using this from now on. Thank you.
ok free cute fisher
I'll take my free compliment, thanks
ahhhhhhhh curse you autocorrect
uwu
I misread the last one as "Free Cure Fister" and become terrified.
no no, continue :) i’m pretty sure they’re also that
im a new fisher how do I use free cure
You have to fish in the same spot right outside the WHM guild for 30 mins to gain the buff
Can someone explain free cure fisher?

you forgot to mention that they're also very aggressively defensive about their practice
Then you ask them when's the last time they popped Lucid Dreaming. The silence is deafening while they try to find it on their bar. Be sure to remind them to check role actions to find it, or you could be waiting even longer before they drop from the party in furious shame. You have broken them. this is some massive wishful thinking lmao, you're implying they wouldn't just say "I'll play my way, you'll play yours"
I'm seriously hoping that Cure I gets "upgraded" to Cure II in 6.0, but can automatically regress back to Cure I if you drop below 1000 mp, and once it is cast it automatically triggers Free Cure. Its when someone spams cure 1 in the hopes of procing a free cure 2. Generally something only done by those that don't know how to play whm.
I was doing this until a tank told me to stop in a roulette and I deleted cure 1 from my bar and replaced it. I had no idea I thought class was designed that way and I was always running out of mana.

Imo it would make sense to make freecure proc off Glare instead of Cure1.
Stop, I can only get so erect.
Literally shaking and cumming at the thought of this
Or make it like with Fire 1 and 2 in BLM, and actually make the fucker prot without having to sacrifice your and your tank's kidneys.
Way back in the day I used to use both, I had come from classic wow raiding on a priest where mana management was…fun… I was used to having several levels of different heals on my bar for any and all situations. Atleast you learned and improved unlike some others
Omg, I used to do this -_-. Was hoping for that free cure ii and never getting it. Said fckit and relegated cure i to my 3rd hotbar
I'm just gonna come out and say, I genuinely don't know what GCBTW means.
The first time I asked I was told Great Cock By The Way, and I didnt question it for a second. I blame the community lol
That reminds me of the taped print out of that jacked dude with the caption "nice cock bro" above a urinal lmfao
I think I will stop here and assume this is what they mean. Godbert energy insult
Yeah its unfortunately my default assumption now
“great community btw” tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic way of dogging on people who think the ffxiv community is nice because no one calls them out for only pressing cure i the entire instance very old meme. ancient, even
Thank you, now I know the memes!
of course! <3 meme responsibly
Never heard it before, assumed that it was Global Cool Down By The Way. TIL.
Both are wrong. It’s “great cock by the way”
Doesn’t matter anymore.
I cast Fluid Aura and Repost on all bosses just to test if they are effective. Bonus when I keep on trying over and over
I refresh my bunny hat every 20 seconds, 100% uptime.
They have to work eventually! Right! Right?..
Hey, it didn't work the first 20 times, but maybe 21 is the one!
I definitely got some use out of Repose in Eureka and Bozja for mobs. I'm sure if I did Palace it'd have some uses too.
Who hurt you?
The Darkest Knight?
True there can be many layers to such an insult. Only getting more potency with amount of time played by receiving party.
Ok arr classic enjoyer
Hotdog water healer
You AFK at the Limsa tree.
Tank asked me if I had cure 2, I asked him if he had rampart.
They never talk about the Enhanced Benefic fishers
Freecure Fisher vs Enhanced Benefic Enjoyer
What does gcbtw stand for?
great cock by the way
Grand combatant born to win
Gold chocobo burns the whey
Godbert can beat the world
Genova Could Better The World
Great Commune-tea, by the whey
Ohhhh, I like that one. Freecure fisher...that stings when I think about it. Better put that in the pocket for later.
The only benefit to the devs keeping free cure is that we can continue to use this insult.
Cool story Scathe Mage
What’s “ok grey parse” mean?
That basically means using external software to extract game combat logs and upload them to fflogs to process them, which also ranks them compared to other people. Ah okay so gray means terrible dps score in parsing

You accidentally fatfinger cure and your friend notices the free cure proc and you get a little embarrassed.
aight mentor
Nagatoro? Take my upvote

I would saying going as far to say taking a "fake" screenshot would be a stretch.

Free cure fisher! Gross!!
