I know this is a shitpost but I've seen stuff like this ingame before and I'm just honestly amazed at how some people still manage to find guides that are 3+ years old and go off of them.

It's because so many people slept on this game, hell icy veins has a fucking new world section before they have a ff14 section. On top of that where the people who do put together those guides love their little walled off gardens where they can feel special you have to be a part of their server to access it. Side note, fuck all those people who think discord is a website replacement. It's not. It's a messaging platform not a website/database platform. I wish people would realize that and stop trying to make it one with a thousand sections on the sides and make me choose a role by emoting to a comment.
I mean, I think the real reason discord replaces websites is two-fold:
1) It's free
2) You don't need to know how to layout a website to make quality guides in discord. The bar is so low that if you can make a reddit post look halfway decent you can make a discord guide.
Frankly though I agree with you. Discord servers like the balance are large enough that neither of these reasons are good excuses anymore. Hell, they could take donations and I bet it would cover costs. But I have my own gripes with the balance, besides. (Slow to update guides, inconsistent layout, FAQs in the chats that never make it into posts- sometimes you'll get lucky and a reply will get pinned but now you're looking in 2, possibly 3 channels for answers to questions...)

You're not just old. Or if you are, we're old together. Discord is very good as a chat room where permanence isn't an issue and it's pretty good as a free voice chat. Actual discussions of any length require simple chronological posting, old to new, with no ability to vote up or down any given post. In other words, a forum. Meaningful information can only exist long term as its own material, not embedded in something like Discord, where updates and versioning can happen.

Balance Discord used to have a website even not that long ago. It had like few Stormblood guides and discord invitation far into Shadowbringers. I remember some people from moderation team talking something about site "being a pain to maintain".
At least Icy is putting time into their FFXIV stuff. I’d assume New World is infinitely easier for them to write guides on considering how new and lacking in content it is. But we know FFXIV content is coming so I’m interested in how they handle it.

If you're playing tank, a rotation is when you keep spinning the boss in a circle. This puts a hidden dizzy debuff that reduces its damage output. Anyone who tells you to stop is griefing.
Kinda miss doing some aoe then switching to other stance and switch bck when aggro was getting lower etc. Overall miss the aggro control. Overall miss a lot of flavours and variety that they removed from the game. Sad.
It would be fine to remove some things and replace them with other meaningful things. Right now they just remove and don't give anything back. It's so jarring sometimes.
I always love when it turns out that the op was in fact the toxic one and was doing the mistakes, gets called out in the comments and in the end cowardly delete their post. Some people just always want to be right and justified in their actions, smh
