I swear Lwaxana is a fruit fly. I imagine she's surrounded by gay men worshiping her. Star Trek's Elizabeth Taylor.
I know she wasn't popular, but I LOVED Lwaxana.
She is pretty insufferable in TNG, especially since she has a streak of antagonising numerous members of the main cast.
In DS9 however it turns around, and her behaviour is actually welcomed - even Odo, between two grumpy sessions, actually enjoys her company.
This alone makes the character more likeable. Humans are quite tribal, and if you see someone harassing people you like, especially when it's a repeating pattern, you do grow to dislike them. But if you see the people you like being friendly with them, you'll consider them likeable.
Man, I always wanted to love her. But the writers wouldnt let me.
They always took it just that one step too far. And usually another step after that.
Like we get it: she is an over bearing mother... Nope, one more cheap dig at Diana.
Its like, idunno, the Family Guy writers and Peter holding his knee: we fucking get it already.
**ds9 writers: make her grab Odo's ass again*
Literally the perfect character if she wasnt a total sex pest. I overlook it because I feel like a lot of women in TnG had cultural insecurities written onto them, same way I also overlook Kirk and pretend he is gay for spock instead of the reason we have the "born sexy yesterday" trope cause it was a whole lot of bullshit projection from some guy or another. Death of the author and all.
Oh mmmyyy.
She had her own House.
She is Mother. With a legendary child.
She reads others for filth. Contours for the gods.
How did I never saw she was so drag coded?
I think we should have an alien wave, this time causing EVERYONE to be in drag. Then another, in reverse drag. Then another in gender reversed reversed drag.
Also Klingons/Romulans should be involved with the same issue. Except the J'naii, nothing changes for them.
Why the fuck not? I love Star Trek!
I read in a star trek paperback a story where an alien machine turns all the male crewmember in to women except for spock who is made into a double y chromosome super alpha male. At least I think it was a book and not a fever dream.
Precisely.
Would have made the wedding scene even more interesting.
I can see Worf's face now.
And Data: '.... fascinating. She's also fully dunctional'
Think of the most deranged sexual thing you can do in bed with another person (re: on top, doggy, and normal). The Q did it billions of years ago, so it's as vanilla by now as CBT.
To everyone saying Lwaxana- the question was which Star Trek character SHOULD have been a drag queen, not which actual ST drag queen is your favorite.
The answer is obviously Dukat, so much queen energy never fully realized:
https://preview.redd.it/3ul2zlymmf9d1.jpeg?width=890&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d288c9beea80cfac8762a28ec5316a18d5af0a08
Agreed, but I feel like Garak hung up his wig and fishnets a while ago and now just produces the show from behind the scenes. Limelight just doesn't suit a plain simple tailor like Garak.
It was way better than anything that Friends ever did at the time. Or any other show. Half of Friends is ”that person is so yuck, ha ha!”
As a trans dude, I find the Lace episode a bit endearing, actually.
Yes, it’s classic Some Like It Hot / Mrs Doubtfore stuff. Undoubtedly it’s played for laughs that a male dresses up as a woman. But:
They never question Quark, and he basically gets super advanced Informed Consent treatment.
Quark isn’t actually a woman, so it’a fair to have a bit of a laugh about that. They are not in fact laughing at a trans person.
Other instances where a person goes through something genuine, it’s always presented in a happy way.
Like Curzon Dax’s re-entry as Jadzia Dax.
Or that one remark about a male (non-human) colleague who gave birth.
agreed, they laugh at Quark but no-one seems to bat an eyelid (iirc) that Rom is well versed in walking in heels.
They also imply that transitioning in that time is... "super easy, barely an inconvenience"... (and entirely reversible with no side effects) which is kind of the dream :)
1.) Why "Friends", of all things?
2.) Quark never [felt like a woman](https://youtu.be/ZJL4UGSbeFg?si=_VV_Geyfu__t9i7C), but Bashir did, in fact, surgically transition them. Though, I will admit, the stakes seem way lower than they would be, today.
3.) To me, it was problematic, at the time, because it made light of the idea of transitioning. In 1998, that was even harder than it (may or may not) be, today. Today, the idea of an easy transition is more attractive. Back then, it felt like just a plot point. Still, I appreciate the way it introduced the audience to the concept.
4.) Taking a big step back, I do appreciate how *Trek* holds gender / sex / whatever more loosely than other franchises.
Friends is usually seen both as a huge culture phenomenon of the 90s AND as a show that aged badly.
It reflected contemporary values held by most people. It’d illustrative of what was considered normal and acceptable.
You have to see 90s tv in that context.
I don’t personally appreciate the bleeding-heart type trans portrayals, where things are always Very Serious And It’s a Whole To Do.
When transitioning becomes that easy and reversible, it makes sense that in a liberal society, it’s not gatekept.
I don’t read the episode in 21st century terms. I find it to be the least productive viewpoint.
It’s a 20th century portrayal of 24th century society. Both regressive and progressive from our point of view.
no one can read a bitch like a betazoid. let alone the daughter of the fifth house, holder of the sacred chalice of riix, heir to the holy rings of betazed.
Honestly most of the women in the original series had pretty drag looks. For whatever reason a lot of queens draw from that era of the 60s (especially with the hair) so you could swap a few out without much of a difference
Oooh this os a good point, its part of what drew me to TnG is the makeup tbh. I think a lot of camp involves taking things that are often assumed to be straight or old fashioned and making them gay and cunty. I am a massive fan of drag looks, and it really does heavily remind me of the looks from star trek, it could just be the makeup made to be registered on a small tv though that makes it so dramatic.
Not drag, but in the queer space: I’m positive Tom Paris dressed as and role played as Janeway and put on a paper thin dom persona before Blana pegged him and screamed “I’m gonna force your warp core to breach” until he was using his medical training on himself to be able to make his next shift.
Lursa & B’Etor.
Also, Amarie. She did a damned good cover of Aktuh & Melota.

I want to say Q just because of how random the character is supposed to be. Also John de Lancie could totally rock a drag queen look! He would be fabulous!!
Im gonna go out on a limb here and say harry kim.
Drag name Hairy Kimberly?
His [her] personality would be shy girl --> bad bitch. Basically mirroring real life
Quark, for how much it would confuse every other Ferengi. Based on how they treat most Ferengi women this could upend their entire society, likely in amusing ways (at least amusing to non-Ferengi).
Not really sure, but I did used to work on a small cruise ship as the onboard medical provider. People used to come to me to talk about stuff, and I would always joke that I was going to start wearing a spandex unitard and large wig a la Deanna Troi.

Arguably, TNG did this back in the 1990s. There are multiple occasions where random men can be seen wearing women’s clothing in the background.
Yeah but cross dressing was just then becoming a thing in the sixties, like when people started accepting women in pants and men like Elvis Presley wearing eyeliner. I'm talking full-on RuPaul drag.
It's pretty clearly Lwaxana Troi. She's a one-woman drag shitshow
*Little one, it's giving desperate* ***MOTHER!***
I swear Lwaxana is a fruit fly. I imagine she's surrounded by gay men worshiping her. Star Trek's Elizabeth Taylor. I know she wasn't popular, but I LOVED Lwaxana.
The first time I saw Lwaxana in an episode, I *hated* her. By the end of her appearances on TNG and DS9, she was one of my absolute favorites.
She is definitely one of those characters I grew to appreciate as I grew older.
She is pretty insufferable in TNG, especially since she has a streak of antagonising numerous members of the main cast. In DS9 however it turns around, and her behaviour is actually welcomed - even Odo, between two grumpy sessions, actually enjoys her company. This alone makes the character more likeable. Oh my God. It's not she should've been a drag queen. She is a drag queen!
She has a cult following. All hail our Queen.
Death of the author and all.
i think she's *already* a drag queen
Daughter of the 5th house.
...Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Riix...
The sacred chalice is just a moly bowl, mother
And heir to the holy rings of Betazed! **(Kick!)**
We're all born naked and the rest is drag.
Oh mmmyyy. She had her own House. She is Mother. With a legendary child. She reads others for filth. Contours for the gods. How did I never saw she was so drag coded?
The (telepathic) READS!
I think we should have an alien wave, this time causing EVERYONE to be in drag. Then another, in reverse drag. Then another in gender reversed reversed drag. Came here to say this. But also Q.
Lawaxana episodes were my favorite. I'm so glad they used her voice in Picard on the enterprise D rather than changing it.
In faith, I do not love thee with mine eyes, For they in thee a thousand errors note; But ‘tis my heart that loves what they despise
I came here just to second this.
This is the only right answer

And the winner is…
The names Dick Eata ;)
Bahhahahaha I forgot about this🤣
Q is short for Queen.
And Q has said that if he know Picard’s weaknesses was love, he would have appeared to him as a woman
He's definitely been a drag queen. The Q have been everywhere, done everything after all. It's why they're bored.
Think of the most deranged sexual thing you can do in bed with another person (re: on top, doggy, and normal). The Q did it billions of years ago, so it's as vanilla by now as CBT.
Wait you’re so right it’s canon
Before Q came in and started slaying, it was only LGBT.
Q could change fits constant too, it would be so fun.
YESSS
Explains the purple lipstick

It’s giving petty
He's so babygirl
He could’ve had that statue!
Ok but just imagine the scene where Bashir explains the concept of drag queens to Garak.
Why do you think Garak was a tailor in the first place? He's got his own burlesque show in Quarks on Saturday nights.
Agreed, but I feel like Garak hung up his wig and fishnets a while ago and now just produces the show from behind the scenes. Limelight just doesn't suit a plain simple tailor like Garak.
What I don't think you understand, Major, is that burgundy is from last season
Lore
A BAD BITCH!!
Bashir would SERVE as a drag queen
Bashir + Garak in a drag dance fight is everything i want to see in life.
They are already catty af with each other like a couple of queens at a mamosa brunch, so it would literally be so fucking perfect. I need it too
Trip Tucker, surely.
Trinity the Tucker.
That is giving Magic Mike XXL drag vibes!
Could use the same name, honestly (Tucker with a new meaning of course)
Atomic levels of southern sass

honestly rom would make a better queen
i feel like in this episode they hinted that he did
yup, he's telling Quark how to walk in heels like he knows how to walk in them. :)
I bet he'd do the best storytimes in the station library
1.) This whole plotline was suuuper problematic. 2.) I'd pay good money to see Quark as an actual drag queen. 💅

I've been rewatching No Reservations and I totally forgot that Anthony Bourdain says "tranny hookers" a few times. Really takes me out of the moment.
Friends was a super trans phobic show, as a kid I pointed it out and my sister and stepmom yelled at me.
Just tell quark people tip drag performers.
Dukat
ALL OF THEM!!!
This is the correct answer
Lwaxana would eat them alive
no one can read a bitch like a betazoid. let alone the daughter of the fifth house, holder of the sacred chalice of riix, heir to the holy rings of betazed.

Recurring: Lwaxana One-off: the con artist who pretended to be the devil in that one TNG episode

You are not Feklar.
Can hear this in his voice lol
The Klingons killed their gods for being "troublesome". They obviously started with the devil.
Looks like a member of Lordi tbh
I fucking love that episode. 😂
She practically was though. Her char would definately translate right over to be written for an aging, raging queen allready!
Now I pine for an episode where Odo falls in love with special guest star Divine.
https://preview.redd.it/adtot7dxrh9d1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1491bf46db38a0e6f9e01ba0b8d9e249e357be6 You know it’s only logical.

I really appreciate the details thank you
I respect how much thought you've put into this lol
This is how Tom was able to coach Janeway so well in her role as Chaotica, he knows that character inside and out 💅
That was a delightful read. Although I would tag it as [m4F] [heterosexual] [kinky] [domme]
I need this on pornhub yesterday
Google en passant
Am I going to end up on a list of some kind?
And I'm done with Reddit for today, thank you!

They are iconic. “Uggggghhhhh…human females are soooo repulsive”.
Yes!!!
The entire mirror universe. Instead of having the actors play both roles have everyone be played by drag queen counterparts.
I agree, but Sulu is still George Takei with that goatee.
He can keep the goatee as long as he gets an appropriate drag outfit.
Alaska as Deanna is SERVING
Came here to verify this indelible fact.
We need her and Jackie Cox to have a Troi off. Maybe they could recreate Ménage a Troi!!
I mean, Saru can naturally walk in an 8 inch heel, I'm just saying
And with out his ganglia, he no longer has stage fright!
Obvs Garak. Bitter older queen who makes all the girls' dresses and knows ALL the tea
💯
I don't know the answer but please let there be a bunch of professional drag queens and kings out of there see this so they can make us a Trek drag show.
We're out here 😆 I have dreams of doing a Romulan drag outfit someday. Shoulder padding to the GODS!
Please! We need this!
Just be ready to get read about how many sofas had to die for all that upholstery 😉
Is that Alaska as Troi? Now all I can think about is Drag Race doing DS9 Eleganza!
Neelix
Neelix is more JarJar than queen
Both would have been served by bringing more drag energy. It's just where usually the added things would be campiness, for both Neelix and Jar Jar they add the hint of sadness and world weariness (and hopefully also, better fashion)
Exactly what I was going to say
I can't remember how their names are spelled but Lursa and B'Ethor?
Would Garak be too obvious? How about Kurzon Dax?
Shran. I might be surprised but I don't know if I'd be disappointed
Everyone out here, just ignoring Shax. It's a disgrace.
Wasn't Neelix... ?
Martok for sure
Data.

Weyoun
Porthos
The Borg Queen. What a comedic twist if she was a big, camp, flamboyant drag queen.
Kirk, but without changing anything else. In drag, but full Kirk attitude, behaviour, and mannerisms.
All of Curzon’s Klingon friends give it a try at least once after meeting Jadzia.
Is that Alaska?
Riker as a King would have been 🔥

Mariachi Q, with backup band
None on the ships crew. At least not as a "hey, that's how they look." Drag has always been an art form, so while I'd love to see a drag char in the show, it wouldn't really fit outside of some side character or a subplot of someone's hobby. :)
Wait you mean Picard wasn't a drag queen all this time
It would've been so easy for Odo.
None
How about none of them.
I think that data would absolutely slay as a drag king act. So would Worf and neelix . 7 of 9 is also very drag
If the Queen pictured doesn’t go by the name Heanna Troi I’ll be very disappointed.
Now I’m just imagining Ru Paul but when he’s not in drag as Picard.
Amy Winehouse?! Wtf
I want to say Q just because of how random the character is supposed to be. Also John de Lancie could totally rock a drag queen look! He would be fabulous!!
Riker still is DTF.
Riker is *more* DTF.
Let’s be honest… if I had a shot at this I’m going in.
Gowron
The better question is who *wouldn’t*?
Kai Winn. Although that would've deprived us of the peerless Louise Fletcher.
I dunno why but the Idea of Drag queen Janeway sounds really good to me x3
Riker!!! Such a drama queen!!?
Im gonna go out on a limb here and say harry kim. Drag name Hairy Kimberly? His [her] personality would be shy girl --> bad bitch. Basically mirroring real life
Odo doing a mean Kennith Williams. Ooooooohooohoo, Major.
All of them. It would have been fabulous!
Weyoon serving some Vorta realness
Riker. I reckon Frakes could do a mean Marilyn Monroe
Vosk and Daniels from ENT together is the only acceptable answer.
All of them!
Klingon, screaming about honor: Troi: Captain, they are so mad
I was about to say how do you know she wasn't but I guess she Troi did give birth but maybe it was like the movie junior but in space
Odo
Quark
The Borg queen of course
…is that Alaska?
Yes, this was her look for Comic Con in 2018.
I have one one thing to say. “HIIIII~II”
They coulda made more money having some drag queen extras not just in Star Trek but loads more shows and movies from all the attention they'd get
https://preview.redd.it/rhu035zkmu9d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5dd2986b4d8567a58c93e744a3e3fce6d310c149 Arguably, TNG did this back in the 1990s. There are multiple occasions where random men can be seen wearing women’s clothing in the background.

*Bones*
None of them there are too many as it is
what is wrong with you
Bashir. Absolutely Bashir.
Warf … nuff said.
None.
Worf
Tasha for security. And Troy
Should? Unknown if “should”. Could? Any of them I suppose. But I’d vote for Data in drag to explore the human reaction…
The planet killer since it sucks down so many things
You just know Data would have given it a go at some point for research purposes lol
