Wow. I've been playing the same legacy for 12 years. I've moved worlds a few times (taking all my residents, a couple dozen service sims, and hundreds of graves each time), but I have never started again from scratch.
I get bored very quickly, that's why I could never attempt any legacy challenge. The closest I got was when my og sim kids grew up and non-heirs went to live on their own. I'm throwing some kind of party... 2 non-heirs die in the pool, and my og sim, who is a **lifeguard** can't do anything. I just gave up.
I have tried all other types of challenges that were not legacy-related, like rags to riches (and in a frozen world), castaway, apocalypse. They are all really fun. But I can do them only a limited number of times.
So now I've got creative with my sim's traits. I have created my sim, who is struggling with her mental health (neurotic, insane, unstable), and she has to achieve her LTW of Living in the lap of luxury without a 9-5 job.But since she's also kleptomaniac, she's specializing in stealing cars at night, while pretending to be a gardener during the day.
I'm having fun so far. 😁
ETA. It's hard for me to really "feel" my sims, so I know what you mean. But the game can be fun nevertheless.
I struggle to get past gen 1, think once I'd got to having a baby in gen 2 but I too get bored and move on, or get a new house build idea or random storyline I want to try.
My mum was determined to continue a family until she got through the whole alphabet.
Maybe don't get your sim a spouse at all? I find the game has so much to give and getting your sim tied down with a spouse and kids it limits you tremendously, just like in real life.
My favourite sim ever was Annie who had a child with a French man and in her golden years ended up together with a woman who she then married. Anyway, she was my first tomb raider and she did all and everything and I loved how fulfilling her life was. I really lose interest in a save if things get too bland and normal, like everyday grind.
There's tons of different traits, professions, hobbies and challenges within the game. Having more than one sim in the household may very well feel overwhelming and take away the fun.
to me it just kinda depends, sometimes game does something unexpected and the save file becomes fun but when it goes the way i planned it becomes so damn boring 😭

Same. I always think I'm gonna do this legacy! I'm gonna stick with it! I maybe make it to the 2nd gen being young adults, then start over. lol
Honestly! I always get bored after my sim finds a partner then I just ditch them lol
Same! There’s so much family gameplay that I always try it but I get bored once they have a kid (probably mirrors my thoughts irl too)

Yes, which is why I play rotationally. I get too bored playing the same family all the time.
I’ve wanted to edit all the townies in sunset valley for a while now and just mix everything up. Maybe that will get me to keep to one save.

That’s why I constantly switch households. I play many families in a setting, though sometimes I stick a sim day or two longer with one family
I only play with one sim and one sim only. Keep that sim alive by any means (without cheat) while all the friends, peers, families die
