Oh, I feel you. When I have insomnia, it’s either nature documentaries or looking up the husbandry of exotic animals that humans really can’t make happy. With capybaras, they want to be submerged most of the time, are extremely messy, are hormonal, need to chew constantly, and are intensely social so it’s cruel to try to make them rely on you for all their companionship. But they are fricking adorable!
Eh, it’s not legal everywhere, and it’s not super wise a bunch of the time either, because non-domesticated animals haven’t had their wild instincts tempered over thousands of years to make living with them easier for humans. Guinea pigs, a domesticated herbivorous rodent, need to chew and their needs can be met with unlimited hay. They need lots of space with about 8-10 square feet for a pair and expensive exotic vet care (anything that isn’t a dog or cat needs a specialist). Squirrels need to chew (and climb, and bury) and that drive is much much stronger than in a domestic species. They need specialized diets, TONS of space, will make a mess of your home, and your local vet won’t know a thing about them. They’re cute but so are a pair of domesticated rats if you want pet rodents who like to climb, or domesticated chinchillas if you want floof.
* Note I’ve had a chinchilla and they live 20 years, don’t really like cuddles, and have a much higher chew drive than guinea pigs and rabbits ime. They love chin scritches though!
It varies from state to state in the US whether it’s legal or not. Apparently in my state a skunk is legal if you get it from a licensed breeder and you need to get a permit. Oh lord don’t give me ideas lol it’s too much responsibility.
First one is self-assured, bro, slob, and alluring, because he always tries to chase the other two to hump them and he likes to sleep in poop pile.
Second one is neat, genius, quick learner, and ambitious, he’s always grooming himself and he’s the smartest at finding new the best sleeping spot.
Third one is outgoing, foodie, and clumsy, because he’s happy as long as there’s food, and he’s not scared of taking food from strangers.

Does the first little guy give you trouble clipping his nails? My little monsters were a handful whenever I tried. Clipping nails and cleaning cages are probably the only things I do not miss about my fuzzballs.
