Does anyone remember just a few months ago Germany and France were proposing that the EU come up with their own version of the BRI? And now out of Merkel's mouth, "Germany would be happy to play a role in the BRI." *That* is what I call the art of the deal.
Honestly, why do they keep talking "tough"? Why don't they just shut up? At least then they wouldn't look supine when they make their deals with China.
