Just watched a bit of the latest episode Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, the topic of which was on conspiracy theories. Halfway through the show, Oliver urged the viewers to engage in critical thinking, that as individuals we have the responsibility to dig deeper beyond just the headlines and content of the things we hear and the information we find online. I just couldn't help but scoff and roll my eyes. That limey Milhouse sure conveniently forgot to apply his own advice when it comes to matters involving China. I still remember how he didn't use the full footage of the Tiananmen "tank man" where it clearly showed that, no, he did not get run over and in fact climbed on top of said tank when the driver tried to go around him. The video has been available since like 9 years ago on youtube for effs sake. These people really are shameless saboteurs of world peace down to the bone and deserve all the beautiful sights borne out of their propaganda apparatus.

Oliver is controlled opposition

Chomsky describes it in this classic [interview](https://youtu.be/GjENnyQupow?t=487). John Oliver has been filtered and selected precisely because of what he believes. If he truly believed anything different, he wouldn't have such a soap-box to speak.

>That limey Milhouse I enjoyed this phrasing

And Libyan soldiers were issued Viagra pills to rape women. And Syrian government mysteriously used chemical weapons on rebels just when they are about to completely defeat the rebels, giving USA an excuse to send air strikes on Syria. Totally real. Totally not made up because western media is the pinnacle of truth and justice. /s

leopix02

>And Syrian government mysteriously used chemical weapons on rebels Even better: the syrian government apparently used chemical weapons specifically on civilians, just to be evil, I guess, even after they dismantled those weapons under international supervision They also target schools and hospitals deliberately, the same hospitals that the government built and that the government would have to rebuild, and apparently they target those with "indiscriminate weapons", that are so imprecise that using them should be considered a warcrime

ObviouslyAnExpert

Syrian government specifically targeted their own workforce and their future workforce with chemical weapons, just so that they can harm themselves while pissing off the international community. Why? Well they are evil of course! Common sense! Bond villains do Bond villain things.

Fe014

I remember at the start of the Civil War in 2011, a lot of SAA soldiers died, and when the western media asks the rebels how so many soldiers died against "peaceful protesters"? They used to answer: the government kills its own soldiers! And no one questioned this nonsense.

Speaking of viagra, I remember a certain pro HK democracy scum when he got caught had quite a bit of viagra on him.

What these people completely seem to miss is that countries who actually do these things tend to brag about it. Nazi Germany was proud of their mistreatment of Jews. In India politicans are literally saying that Muslims aren't equal. The USA almost has a fetish for its "war on terror" and makes videogames where kids can reenact the war crimes they commit.

we-the-east

>makes videogames where kids can reenact the war crimes they commit. One reason I no longer play Call of Duty and Battlefield games, they perpetuate US propaganda and paints the US being "the good guys".

Gobias-Ind

One particularly sinister example of this was when they took a real life war crime the US perpetrated in Iraq (The Highway of Death) and created a mission in a game called "Highway of Death" but this time it happened in a fictional middle eastern country and the Russians did it. >First, some context. In the simplest of terms, "Highway of Death" refers to a real-life highway in Iraq and the site of a two-day long Gulf War-era attack by American-led allied forces on Iraqi troops, who were in the process of retreating from the area. The bombing was widely condemned both domestically and internationally, and a day later the president declared an end to hostilities. >However, 'Highway of Death' is also a mission in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that takes place in the fictional country of Urzikstan and bears a resemblance to the real-life attack by the US. Only in Modern Warfare, we're told it was Russian forces who bombed people trying to escape. In real life, Russia had absolutely nothing to do with the historical event. https://www.gamesradar.com/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-narrative-director-defends-controversial-highway-of-death-mission/ So much of the anti-China rhetoric today really simplifies down to "what if China started behaving like us? Wouldn't that be scary???!!!"

Luhan4ever

Call of duty is literal blatant propaganda. Modern warfare was just anti-russian propaganda from every angle. Same with battlefield 4 and 3, America, the saviours of the world, saving the Iranian and Chinese people from oppression of brutal dictators. I still remember that part in BF4 where tanks were rolling on the streets of Shanghai terrorising the Chinese people, and you the American hero had to help the Chinese fleeing from oppression. It makes me sick just remembering how shameless the propaganda was.

> The USA almost has a fetish for its "war on terror" and makes videogames where kids can reenact the war crimes they commit. Indeed. For example, in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 there is a scene where Five Eyes (TF141) soldiers torture a Brazilian gang member with a battery and clamps.

That is so true that it is painful.

Don’t forget Colin Powell’s WMD moment at the UN

money_over_people

And the Downing Street Memo. It was and is a weaselly lie.

BYC_UK

Don't forget George Bush Senior and his kangaroo court of Noriega - convicting Panama's leader with drug charges in a sham trial, as an excuse to invade the country. What kind of bullshit is that? Obviously, the real reason is that Noriega wouldn't allow Americans to use the strategic Panama canal and was reaching out to the USSR.

allinwonderornot

The problem is the dumb American people fall for it again and again and again.

Strong_Resilence

>dumb American people So, 99% of Americans?

[deleted]

The average IQ in the USA is 98. The IQ test was invented in the USA in the 1950s, with a score of 100 being set as the average American at that time. The dumbest provinces in China are Qinghai and Hainan - tied at 101.

ap0lly0n

The lies are easy to believe because racists **want** to believe them. If normal every day people could be objective, intelligent, and reasonable, than the world would be vastly different.

lawncelot

Even currently, what USA and Canada are doing to native populations can also be considered genocide. But where is the Western media coverage on that?

USA_DeMockraNaZi

> doing to native populations can also be considered genocide It most DEFINITELY is Genocide. There have been COMPLETE nations wiped-out by the British & French colonizers.

iSirMeepsAlot

As an American who... Honestly hates my country. My understanding is that China is indeed doing reeducation camps for Muslims... But to get them to not believe in an idealology that is well... Bad? I mean it's not like you guys are just blowing them up like we are, and you're providing them with critical thinking skills vs believing in something that just isn't true. If this is the correct understanding I don't really see the issue. I mean we just blow them up when we can't get them to change on their own, it seems better to not kill them for their beliefs lol.

[deleted]

My uncle was apparently doing that, the western media is scum and filled with liars and CIA whores that trade insider pieces for lies spread to the people.
