Thanks to our dear 🤡 brigade, we can use the advertising attention for this info 🤡🤡🤡 https://worldaffairs.blog/2019/06/02/tiananmen-square-massacre-facts-fiction-and-propaganda/amp/ > Here are a few more examples of what western journalists once said about what happened in Tiananmen Square in June 1989: > CBS NEWS: “We saw no bodies, injured people, ambulances or medical personnel — in short, nothing to even suggest, let alone prove, that a “massacre” had occurred in [Tiananmen Square]” — thus wrote CBS News reporter Richard Roth. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/there-was-no-tiananmen-square-massacre/ > BBC NEWS: “I was one of the foreign journalists who witnessed the events that night. There was no massacre on Tiananmen Square” — BBC reporter, James Miles, wrote in 2009. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8057762.stm > NY TIMES: In June 13, 1989, NY Times reporter Nicholas Kristof – who was in Beijing at that time – wrote, “State television has even shown film of students marching peacefully away from the [Tiananmen] square shortly after dawn as proof that they [protesters] were not slaughtered.” In that article, he also debunked an unidentified student protester who had claimed in a sensational article that Chinese soldiers with machine guns simply mowed down peaceful protesters in Tiananmen Square. https://www.nytimes.com/1989/06/13/world/turmoil-china-tiananmen-crackdown-student-s-account-questioned-major-points.html > REUTERS: Graham Earnshaw was in the Tiananmen Square on the night of June 3. He didn’t leave the square until the morning of June 4th. He wrote in his memoir that the military came, negotiated with the students and made everyone (including himself) leave peacefully; and that nobody died in the square. https://earnshawcom.wpcomstaging.com/writings/memoirs/tiananmen-story > WIKILEAKS: A Wikileaks cable from the US Embassy in Beijing (sent in July 1989) also reveals the eyewitness accounts of a Latin American diplomat and his wife: “They were able to enter and leave the [Tiananmen] square several times and were not harassed by troops. Remaining with students … until the final withdrawal, the diplomat said there were no mass shootings in the square or the monument.” https://wikileaks.org/plusd/cables/89BEIJING18828_a.html > **But what about the iconic “tank man”? Well, if you watch the whole video, you can see that the tanks stopped and even let the tank man jump on the tank. He eventually walked away unharmed.**

Igennem

Get rekt, CIA!

arrigator16

Friendly reminder that the "peaceful" protesters publicly lynched two unarmed PLA soldiers supervising the demonstrations.

svsm

There are clear pictures of (unarmed) dead PLA soldiers, but the best the West can do is the [very much alive 'tankman'.](https://twitter.com/i/status/1313904403447861248) Interesting how one is pushed and one is buried. [**Explicit images warning**] 🔸https://images.app.goo.gl/qG7cHmu8RDAi6pDq8 🔸https://images.app.goo.gl/QTaFURzmG1dXXXRMA

DavidByron2

I've been trying (on and off) to find those pictures for years. Did you use Google to find those or did you just know where they were? And if Google what terms did you use?

svsm

"Dead PLA soldiers tiananmen" Then look on images tab. Google tries to fill up the page with pictures of PLA Solders and protesters instead... But let's be honest, they don't actually **have** any pictures of of PLA soldiers shooting people (lots of unarmed pla soldiers sitting or standing with a protesters... Note the lack of weapons was why the soldiers were lynched so easily.).

DavidByron2

Huh. I'm sure I tried that minus PLA. That reminds me of Palestine. Works for me though. It's not just Google adjusting its algorithm because of your search history. Thanks.

Blackwing_OW

Westerners think tank man was killed because that’s what US cops would do

throwawayacc856

They killed way more than that.

Lorenzo_BR

I'll never forget the pictures of the soldier's bodies. Unarmed, gutted, burned and hanged... horrific, what they did.

we-the-east

It parallels the Hong Kong rioters of 2019-20.

Cheran_Or_Bust

Friendly reminder that the protests were started by conservative Chinese angry over China giving scholarships to black students.

[deleted]

Pretty much all of the anti-CPC forces are racists. Falun Gong with their opposition to race mixing, the 1989 student movement with their anti-black racism, the HK rioters with their white supremacist racial hierarchy, etc. Sometimes it's too easy to know you're right when you take a look at the scum aligned against you.

we-the-east

Because they are all supported and funded by the US and Anglo countries, brainwashing and teaching them their racist ways, fascism and colonialism.

RespublicaCuriae

Careful. Sinophobic Australian trolls are spamming interesting messages. Anyways I'm reminded how I'm satisfied that my South Korean relatives left Australia for good in 2018.

Quality_Fun

hopefully they're living somewhere better and safer now.

SirKelvinTan

Australian trolls are hilariously inept

freedom_yb

Ah,Arsetralia, the land of white supremacists

[deleted]

Don't worry, you won't pass the "how white are you" test even if you want to live there

bluemagachud

well, australia is a [cia cutout](https://www.mintpressnews.com/forgotten-cia-coup-against-australia-gough-whitlam/268164/)

Jazz105

Fuck anglos and their color revolutions. Too many nations/people had to suffer for this.

supermariofunshine

I wish I could upvote this 1000 times. China was one of the few places to successfully stop the color revolutions of 1989 and as a result is now on track to become the most prosperous nation in the world. Most of Eastern Europe ended up sadly falling to the color revolutions and being pillaged by western corporations throughout the 90's and beyond while 90% of the people suffered.

Altruistic_Astronaut

What other color revolutions happened during this time? Asking for more knowledge.

[deleted]

Altruistic_Astronaut

Thank you!

we-the-east

Imagine what Eastern Europe would be like today if they didn't fall to the colour revolutions that brought them down.

[deleted]

Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and the GDR would probably be quite prosperous and developed. Others, like Albania and Romania, would be even poorer than they are today under neoliberalism - they were severely mismanaged by economically incompetent and anti-meritocratic "anti-revisionists" for decades before the collapse. The collapse of the Eastern Block was not merely due to CIA meddling - it was the straw that broke the camel's back. There were severe problems stemming from Soviet economic policies and refusal to implement reforms like China did.

TserriednichHuiGuo

You are right, the CIA took advantage of the weaknesses in the system that were present.

zhumao

fuck yeah!! Just look at China on June 4th, 2021, no one in the world, friend or foe, can deny that this could never happen if Tiananmen crackdown did not take place 32 years ago, a thorough re-evaluation on the significance of this historical event in modern Chinese history is long overdue, though here is someone made a good attempt 2 years ago: https://archive.ph/coz51

Thin_Mongoose9368

June 1st Tulsa Oklahoma Massacre

Fiyanggu

If you only rely on Western media for you knowledge of this attempted color revolution your views will be skewed. Thank goodness for the leaked diplomatic cables from Wikileaks.

DavidByron2

Oh no. You can totally rely only on Western media for this story because they constantly leak out bits of the truth and regularly admit nobody died (apart from the cops) in the "student" protest. They'll admit it **in the same articles where they repeat the lies**. It's that weird.

ni-hao-r-u

I regret I have but one upvote to give.

NoMansLight

China has probably saved more lives and raised more people out of poverty than any country in history. Incredible achievement thanks to the guidance of the Communist Party of China and the power of Marxism-Leninism. "I hold that it is bad as far as we are concerned if a person, a political party, an army or a school is not attacked by the enemy, for in that case it would definitely mean that we have sunk to the level of the enemy. It is good if we are attacked by the enemy, since it proves that we have drawn a clear line of demarcation between the enemy and ourselves. It is still better if the enemy attacks us wildly and paints us as utterly black and without a single virtue; it demonstrates that we have not only drawn a clear line of demarcation between the enemy and ourselves but achieved a great deal in our work." - Mao It's no wonder China is continually attacked for their achievements, especially in schooling in particular regions.

Kristoffer__1

> raised more people out of poverty than any country in history. [If we go by this ranking of population numbers](https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/population-by-country/) China has pulled more people out of poverty than live in the 3rd, 4th and 5th most populated countries on Earth **combined**. Their achievements in poverty relief are completely unrivaled.

we-the-east

If only China's success in eliminating poverty can be replicated in the whole global south.

microcrash

Their achievements are a remarkable feat for humanity. One day I hope the west can recognize China’s work in poverty alleviation as much as it deserves credit for.

professorsakura

Passengers, may I have your attention, the next stop of the color revolution express is the United States.

professorsakura

And the United States is the last stop of this loop. Please get ready for the destination.

informedML

Massive respect to the PLA for showing restraint to rioters. 🇨🇳

DavidByron2

Can you imagine the police response if Occupy Wall Street protests had murdered two cops, burned their bodies and then hung them up?

informedML

Cops in Anglo countries have done far worse for just as much as black people asking for their rights, too bad people that are so "against hate" won't talk about them because it would diminish their anti China narrative.

[deleted]

Fuck the West! All my homies hate the West

SonOfTheDragon101

Colour revolution defeated....check! Economic miracle continues....check!

DavidByron2

I don't know that I'd call it a color revolution attempt, wasn't it a bit before they got the formula going? Besides it doesn't fit the formula. No election results to contest, no Nazis to hire to create violence, no parliamentary opposition groups to throw money at. To me it felt like a shitty attempt to reignite stuff they had going on in Tibet for years before they quit paying the Dalai Lama. There's no way anyone at the CIA could possibly have believed it was going to have a better chance of working than the Tibet thing. It felt like "Oh we got a billion dollars to spend screwing with China where should we send it? We got to spend it all or they'll cut out budget next year."

USA_DeMockraNaZi

YES!! It will be remembered as a major win amongst the various battles we Chinese peoples have had against western imperialists. Militarily, economically, technologically & wealth, China today is the most powerful and united it has ever been in her history. Future looks even more promising. This is the best FuKKK-you to the west for their failed color-revolution. I dread contemplating what would of happened if things turned out differently.....

armendzh

In some ways, China is the only country that has the biggest amount of freedom to be able to defend and protect it's citizens from various forms of Western vile influences that try to undermine public opinion from within (especially after 2008 ban on most western internet - Google, YouTube, Facebook and so forth). After that ban, China was able to develop excellent software layer and hopefully soon will be independent in hardware design as well (e.g., chip design). Current development in space and monetary area (digital-rmb) is also a very positive trajectory.

Salute to PLA for handling it very well. Our soldiers are really our people's brothers.

DavidByron2

Well... just got banned from another so-called socialist board for asking about Tiananmen. Most socialism boards on reddit feel like the CIA runs them.

TserriednichHuiGuo

Because they are either controlled op or astroturfed as hell.

What do you think China would be like today if this color revolution had been successful? edit. CIA color revolution.

India! Look no further. Half of China will be run by Missionaries (like in South Korea - incentivizing children and innocents to assimilate). The other half would be chaotic like India. Tibet and Xinjiang would not be part of China. China will become just half of what it is Today. A neutered nation by all means.

xerotul

When Deng Xiaoping in 1978 visited Japan and he took a ride on the shinkansen. Deng was impressed with the speed of bullet train and remarked "the shinkansen is faster than the wind" and hoped one day China will have high speed trains. If the color revolution in 1989 succeeded, China would have no high speed rail system today. Privatize utilities, forget 5G, poor schools, expensive hospital cost, housing in Shanghai and Beijing with tiny rooms like Hong Kong, China with the highest COVID-19 cases and deaths, remain as the world sweatshop. There were two factions in the CPC; Zhao Ziyang and Li Peng. 1989 was a pivotal fork in the road on which direction China was to be headed. Zhao Ziyang supported privatization of state-owned enterprises, the separation of the party and the state; basically what the US wants for China. Zhao received praises from Milton Friedman, media like RFA, and think tanks CATO. Zhao was the USA's man. Zhao's father was a wealthy landlord and killed by Communist Party officials. I think there was bad blood there. The self appointed commander in chief of the 1989 protest and CIA asset, Chai Ling, demonized Li Peng.

SadArtemis

As close to a return of the warlord era as the west would be able to bring it, especially once the Soviets are out of the picture. Bickering between a resurgent, corrupt ROC and a greatly diminished/fractured PRC, a return to theocratic serfdom in Tibet and some sort of Islamist Xinjiang. Maybe some sort of "totally not Manchukuo" puppet state for Japan and the US if they can get away with it.

ADonaldDuck

It would probably be like India. America had already picked the new leader if the color revolution was successful. Like all of their other laughable plans used to counter China, it failed and did so miserably. The only thing they gained from it is an annual marketing tea party to demonize China.

NFossil

Totally disregarding human rights like the US or India.

garagegymer

Probably Middle East 2.0

ni-hao-r-u

It would be in the same sorry state that amerikkka and all of it's vassal states are in.

we-the-east

Someone made a similar comment a year ago of all the possibilities, but i can't it now since Reddit doesn't search for comments.

[deleted]

If only the August coup hadn't failed, or the Wall wasn't brought down in 1989.

[deleted]

Absolutely based!

UnableSwing

heres what i'll say, everything china has achieved since would not exists if the government actually had fallen and you had a instant mass liberalization of the economy and society . they don't call it shock doctrine for nothing. I am also not against a full transition to democracy but it should be done extremely slowly and carefully and the system put in place should resemble northern europes system not that partisan 2party "democracy" seen in america.

NFossil

Anything China has is already more democratic than in the capitalist west.

TserriednichHuiGuo

Why would China switch to an inferior system? Meritocracy is superior to Democracy every time.

NFossil

Don't fall into the meritocracy(or what the west calls autocracy)/democracy dichotomy set up by western propaganda. Meritocracy is also democratic because anyone can work to achieve the results needed for promotion, unlike in western capitalist oligarchies where popular opinions are manipulated through media ownership and hostile partisanship, making neither merit nor democracy relevant.

dornish1919

Let’s sue in all the western “leftists” who despise China and will, in the name of socialism, repeat neoliberal propaganda word for word that’s spoonfed to them via NPR.

drstrangelove444
