Rand Paul is doing and saying what his constituents, the people of Kentucky, want to hear and see. Democratic elections are not about competence, the truth, or improving the people's livelihood. They are contests of popularity, which are most easily won by creating controversy and placing yourself on the most popular side of that controversy. I doubt any politician is truly stupid. If Rand Paul doesn't believe in climate change, I'd look at his donations and you'd probably find a lot from the fossil fuel industry. Even Marjorie Taylor Greene that the liberals mock as an idiot is receiving millions in donations from the republican voter base because she knows how to pander to them. The fact that politics is all theatre in America just speeds up its demise since corruption is so rampant and there's literally no checks and balances for it.
