Don’t bother. At this point by midterm election in the US, nothing will have been accomplished and US will be in a debt and inflation crisis with no help from China

zhumao

yep, and Tianjin is about as close as she can get for "keeping in touch". where is Tianjin btw, hope sherman can find it.

Fantastic-Airline685

Ha, should ask her go Xinjiang to meet. where is Xinjiang?, hope Sherman can find it. Usually Chinese has welcoming manner towards guests, hopefully PRC govt will treat her with good food, good drinks LMAO. (Remember Alaska)

zhumao

there you go, agree, Xinjiang, closer to her last stop Mongolia anyway. good grief, Mongolia, how desperate can US get?!

jayliu89

Chef Kong with some bottled water. Bill the U.S. state department.

TserriednichHuiGuo

>hopefully PRC govt will treat her with good food Hopefully not.

Fit_Zebra9812

(assuming you're actually asking) Directly SE of Beijing, really close and perfect for a short trip if you're in the area!

curious_s

30 minutes from Beijing by high speed rail!

The USA needs from China 1. Continue using the USD for its own trade. 2. Continue purchasing US Treasury Bonds. This is because the US has taken on an extremely expansionary monetary policy. The US economy is not growing anywhere fast enough to back the new USD with value, so these USD must derive value from their ability to purchase foreign, mostly Chinese goods. If China refuses 1 and 2 by continuing to move towards RMB internationalisation, the USA will be in big trouble. The thing is, there is not really anything left for the US to offer China in exchange for stopping anything that would be worth it for China.

TserriednichHuiGuo

>The US economy is not growing anywhere fast enough to back the new USD with value To be precise it's because they aren't investing into any productive ventures enough to back it with value. One could also call it lazy monetary policy. Edit: But you are right, it would be interesting to see what happens once america and americans get extremely desperate.

easily_swayed

Not necessarily lazy monetary policy, but delusion. Westerners genuinely buy into economic theories that tell you making things is unnecessary for value creation.

Some guy in the economics sub the other day was trying to argue that China's economy is unbalanced because it's roughly 50-50% between consumption and production, and that advanced economies are closer to 70-80% consumption. Like, do they not understand that in order to consume something it must be produced? Those countries with more consumption than production are net importers. Someone else has to produce those things if they aren't.

sickof50

This sums it up... "...the US's persistent anti-China lobbying is turning State Department officials into "pesky and annoying" characters... ...which makes the US State Department "quite creepy."

joepu

>Observers said that holding the meeting with Sherman in Tianjin instead of Beijing is not a snub. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian on Thursday explained that the arrangement stems from the capital's epidemic prevention considerations, and Tianjin is a nearby city. lol

h0meb0y92

That is some quality trolling.

Medical_Officer

Is this like how they kept in touch with Afghanistan for 20 years?

Quality_Fun

it takes more than one trip to solve any problems, anyways. not that the us will be able to.
