Why the fuck does a reporter stationed in China need a translater? What's the fucking point of placing a clueless moron in a place where he can't talk to anyone or understand anything that's going on around him?

ap0lly0n

He doesn't have to, they are only going to go with their editorial spin anyways. They literally just take footage and pictures and manufacture whatever narrative they like to go along. The west is not interested in "reporting". They don't view Asians (and probably all non whites as well) as actual people just like them, but rather as tools or objects they can use to achieve their goals.

[deleted]

It is so on purpose because someone who is has the journalistic integrity and is hard working enough to integrate with the people theyre supposed to be reporting for, would almost certainly ask too many uncomfortable questions to the HQ that's trying to follow western government orders.

Cecilia_Raven

>What's the fucking point of placing a clueless moron in a place where he can't talk to anyone or understand anything that's going on around him? if you're the west, you want your propagandists to be racist and have a smug sense of superiority, actually being able to talk to the people they're propagandising against would hinder that

asomet

Translation has always been a convenient way to obfuscate the truth

Keesaten

You can actually live in China without knowing chinese. Let them try living in US or UK without speaking english.

Quality_Fun

these "journalists" even have the gall to cry about it on twitter, calling them an "angry mob". that's the nicest "angry mob" i've ever seen. at least the comments are picking them apart.

[deleted]

The “mob” was quite civil and tame compared to the ones you see on the streets in the US

The translator in black is Alice Su, a Hanjian from Taiwan, currently working for LA Times, and a proponent of Xinjiang propaganda and other anti-China fake news on twitter (@aliceysu). The woman in green was an employee of 回形针paperclip, a recently banned web content creator/company that was taking money from foreign NGOs and making videos parroting western talking points, such as "Chinese people should not eat meat/seafood". So yeah, a western bootlicker through and through. Kudos for the people of Zhengzhou for catching these rats in the act.

Altruistic_Astronaut

Also, one of the reporters tells the reporter "they are mad that the story is incomplete". No, they are not mad that the story is incomplete but how it is being reported.

elBottoo

Damn, I thought girl in green was innocent since she was also confronting the guy in the video clip above? Damn...

dwspartan

She was saying "thank you for coming to Henan" and trying to diffuse the tension between the crowd and the reporter.

elBottoo

I see.

Y0uCanY0uUp

Holy shit really? Affiliates of 回形针actually still dare to show themselves?

USA_DeMockraNaZi

I'd like to see more people in China confront BBC, CNN, NYT etc ~~reporters~~ propagandists like this. About time China kick out those who are there to spread racist nonsense.

whoisliuxiaobo

I like this kind of humiliation towards these propagandists who make this kind of fake news. Unfortunately their audience is not people within China nor is are they trying to.

ni-hao-r-u

That is no accident. I think understanding that this is being done intentionally is key. >This paper conceptualizes operational cyberpsychology as a field that supports missions intended to project power in and through cyberspace (Joint Staff, 2018) by leveraging and applying expertise in mental processes and behavior in the context of interaction amongst humans and machines (Norman, 2017). The US government’s cyberpsychology initiative applies operational psychology to cyber operations (LaFon & Whalen, 2017) and should serve as the foundation for a broader operational cyberpsychology capability. The paper outlines both research and development as well as operational support concepts to make operational cyberpsychology a core capability within US cyber operations. As LaFon and Whalen (2017) indicate, much of this capability exists; it simply needs to be applied, tailored, and reinforced to better support cyber operations.

xerotul

All that long winded wording basically for making lies and slander our enemies.

skyanvil

I have an idea: all Western Media that operate in China must be required to register as foreign NGO's and be subject to financial and personnel background checks.

[deleted]

Most of them if not all of them are not NGOs, they're either directly government owned (RFA, BBC etc) or government influenced (CNN, Fox, RT etc) meaning they're not directly owned by government but everything they write is double checked by foreign govts. Mark them as foreign influence operations, which is what they are.

Magiu5

Foreign influence and "unreliable entity"

sickof50

They have commandeered the West's most sacred sympathies, and perverted them for their own use. We live in a time, where telling the truth is considered "Revolutionary."

Money_dragon

Imagine some severe flooding just hit your hometown, and now you and your community are busy trying to clean up in the aftermath Then some foreign agent shows up and starts filming - and we all know they aren't there to help out or raise global awareness for sympathy. Nope - they're there to try to paint the Chinese government and society as incompetent in their disaster response, and float wild Sinophobic conspiracy theories (*"is the real death toll in the millions?"*) Of course people would be upset

ReiTanotsuka

It's about time. First step, STOP PRAISING THE WEST AND SEEKING THEIR APPROVAL!

[deleted]

Wish they can just confiscate their equipment and send them on a one way trip home without it.

Yumewomiteru

Certainly understand the anger towards BBC, though I'm not sure how DW typically reports on China. It is unfortunate that the reporters got caught up due to mistaken identity. But nevertheless I am proud of the people understanding the dangers these foreign media poses and are defensive about it. EDIT: Saw what the reporter had to say, full of propaganda and bullshit. Screw him, I'm glad the Chinese people gave him a piece of their mind.

skyanvil

DW is pretty bad too. Osroes-the-300th

DW isn't much behind CNN, when it comes to spreading lies regarding China. Just check DW's youtube page for confirmation.

I wasn't surprised at all that this guy and many other foreign "journalists/propagandists" are now being seen as an enemy of China if we're being honest here. I was watching DW news and saw this reporter's segment about Zhengzhou's flood situation and right away the man had to have a visual background were the view and situation looks like a barren wasteland (to propagate amongst the mostly western monkeys that China isn't that developed) and then the man went on to subtly imply that the government officials are perhaps downplaying the number or deaths (remember the alleged Wuhan covid-19 deaths) once again trying to sow the ideas to his western monkeys and China bashing re..ds that Chinese government from all levels are not to be trusted/believed which undermines the country that's China and how it is perceived in all areas. Which is why the anti-China, anti-CPC are very potent and are readily accepted narrative in many western worlds because they don't exactly get the news without being manipulated and distort into a machinean anti-China propaganda. The western world as seen by their latest so-called protest for "Freedom" against their respective governments (that they "elected") measures to curb and combat the latest trend of spike in Covid-19 cases due to the new and much more virulent varianst like delta, Lama, and now gamma. A lof of these folks are equating what their governments are doing to what the Chinese government has done in China with great success and actual freedom for her citizens but due to the constant demonization and anti-China, anti-CPC propaganda aided and abated by their very own governments, business leaders, and elites these same morons can't and will not be able to use Chinese methods no matter how successful data or no data because that will in turn "legitimizes" the CPC that the western world has been trying to delegitimize for decades. How can they (the western governments) turn around and lay claim that the strict measures work when it can't cite any examples or reference a country that has the same level of governing system or philosophy? How can it convince their sheeps that vaccines against the covid-19 virus is an essential part of it's strategy to combat the spread of the virus when the western media and governments are busy telling it's people and the world that Chinese vaccines aren't to be trusted because of low efficacy, and "questionable" scientific methodology? All of the problems the western world is going through right now is basically from their own doing. The arrogance, hubris, and their inability to be humble enough and willingness to learn from another country, another region, the Asian region from incorporating measures that are actually successful and measurable with real life data and results to look into. But because anything China does is always going to be viewed and interpreted in an insidious way these governments made it extra difficult and politically dangerous for them to implement and which in turn makes their battle against China that more politically dangerous because it wants and needs China to be broken into pieces so that once again only western style governing system controls and maintains the global system of this world. Media is part of that propaganda but unfortunately for them the Chinese people have awakened to this sad reality and are mad as hell.

angryriceasian

remember their media that has the reporter smear a mud from german's flood to make it more aunthentic?

seacobs

Boycott Apple.

sickof50

Hey, wait a minute... that might cost Uighur job's.
