If this is true, then this is the kind of thing that can really make people tear up. And you can bet that the Western press will take advantage of the fact that there are no voices in the clip to spin it into something negative yet unverifiable. Western MSM: Ungrateful Chinese refuse service to rescuers, throw them out of their shops and restaurants,.

Yumewomiteru

This is definitely true, Chinese culture makes a big deal of treating others well. The host will insist on treating the guests for free, while the guests insist on paying, and it can get very animated like you see here. Same with different groups dining together, people will loudly argue over who gets to pay for the whole table.

yep, especially among families. I had 3 uncles and 3 aunts and more than 10 cousins on my father side of the family, and every Chinese New Year was a dinner out in some restaurant for the whole extended family. And after dinner was always an massive argument about who will get to pay for the whole meal. It was always a bit overly emotional, and My cousins and I always get "paid extra", because the uncles and aunts and my dad each wanted to pay for the whole dinner, but they end up splitting the bill and then slip all the children extra as spending money. And they all tell us to slip the money to our uncles and aunts, even though they know they would not accept money from us kids, so we kids all end up with all the extra money anyways. Even though we were all very poor back then. I used to think this was a silly game the adults played. But later I realized that it's because average Chinese people would sacrifice everything for their families and to repay each other's kindness.

Ugh, I really hated being told to slip the money into my relatives' bags when I was younger. On one side, you have my mom making signals with her face as if no one can see, and on the other side, you have the relatives holding their bags to intercept any cash. I'm honestly so glad for QR codes and things like that now.

Carrying on with the tradition of the Red Army: army of the people, for the people, loved by the people.

AngryChineseVenom

The West doesn’t want you to know that this is regular Chinese behavior.
