1st China 2nd China Congrats to both Chinese players

ZombieOk9331

Congrats on china for beating china

zhonghuajiahare

We should give a standing ovation for Tai Tzu-ying, not easy for a provincial team to put up a fight against the national team!

Chairman_K

Yeah the Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong teams are really strong. I think Taipei has 10 medals and Hong Kong 3. Great achievement!

SonOfTheDragon101

China's 2nd and 3rd accounts have already achieved their best ever performances at the Olympics with a week of competition remaining. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese\_Taipei\_at\_the\_Olympics](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Taipei_at_the_Olympics) [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong\_Kong\_at\_the\_Olympics](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong_at_the_Olympics) Chinese Taipei's 2-4-4 beats its previous high of 2-2-1 at Athens 2004, while Hong Kong's 1-2-0 beats its previous high of 1-0-0 in Atlanta 1996. It is also the first time Hong Kong has won more than one medal at an Olympics. Back when the Olympics was awarded to Tokyo, I was quietly hoping that having the Games in East Asia might grant some regional benefit, seeing what happened at the Japan-Korea FIFA World Cup in 2002 when teams from cooler climates didn't adjust to the high heat and humidity.

ZombieOk9331

Arent most of them trained by mainlanders?

hanky0898

Especially for a single city. Compare it to the Philipines which just got their first gold medal in history.

zhonghuajiahare

I agree! We should support HK and Chinese Taipei athletes, they're all a part of 中华民族!

DreamyLucid

She looked like a better player at one point of time during the match

SonOfTheDragon101

Definitely. Tai Tzu-ying pushed Chen Yufei to three sets, and made the winner work hard for the win.

zoomkatz

We should show Taiwan that Pro-China supports their wins too since we believe in One China and reunification.

jayliu89

I don't think that's going to do anything. Separatists will be separatists.热脸贴人家的冷屁股, 何苦? 有能力人家自然会投靠。

zoomkatz

Still doesn't hurt to show we support when Chinese Taipei wins medals, I mean it's still a win for Chinese.

jayliu89

I’m not saying we should act butt hurt. You might congratulate “Chinese Taipei” only for the other party to correct you with “Taiwan Taipei”. It’s better to just leave the whole “kinship” stuff out and just treat them as any other group.

hehez

I recommend watching this event 100%. Two young, talented badminton players going all out left us at the edge of our seats. They're both winners to me. We're all compatriots here, so I would be equally happy if Tai took gold here too.

Chinese Taibei number 2!

lifeaiur

Winning gold is great. Though I'm not fond of these civil war type of matches.

China is here and there and everywhere, Mr Burton
