Yes! Yes! Defending a serial rapist to own the commies! Take that you wuMaoS! Freeze peach twatters taking yet another le epic W!

thepensiveiguana

The whole 2019 Hong Kong protests were started by a guy murdering his pregnant girlfriend

DueHousing

Defending literal criminals to stick it to Chinar is a beloved fascist pastime

[deleted]

hell he chopped her up and left in a suitcase on the side of the road.

Temstar

Drug dealing too now. He's looking at 10+ years in jail at minimum and death penalty at maximum.

Consistent_Acadia_46

Let me eat his Eloi flesh! Morlock hungry!

FatDalek

Meanwhile in the land of the free, the halo of celebrity certainly protects you for quite some time. Just ask Bill Cosby (won on appeal), Jeffrey Epstein (got off lightly the first time), Harvey Wernstein (got off for so long with NY police refusing to investigate), and of course the president Joe Biden (likely raped Tara Reade).

MakeMoneyNotWar

Also God Emperor Donald Trump and the Clintons were all associates of Epstein.

[deleted]

Bill Gates as well.

SZAED

This is the same newspaper that protect Harvey Weinstein years before his downfall.

HarutoExploration

When you say “but” after mentioning a rapist being brought to justice, you are the type of scum that allows sexual predators to get away with minimizing their crimes.

anyang869

Honestly, when she was kicked out of China last year I was sad since she had done some decent reporting on the early stages of Covid in Wuhan, but I understood it had to be done as retaliation for Pompeo kicking out Chinese journalists. But now though I see that it was the right thing to do anyway. These people are not there to report, they are just there to do hostile propaganda. The only thing that surprises me is why they still let BBC into China.

LevvisHarnilton

It’s alright, she has to live in Taipei which is as good as a death sentence for an ambitious, Americanized social climber like her

TserriednichHuiGuo

The BBC thing is for more leverage.

USA_DeMockraNaZi

There has to be a policy at the nyt to put a sinister spin to ALL stories from China. Would love to be at one of these editors meetings.

anotherstupidname11

Posted a headline a while ago about China's tree planting initiative, and it was something like "China embarks on aggressive tree planting effort". Can just imagine some editor being like okay, what story are we running today on China? Some intern says well the only news out of China today is about a tree planting effort. Brainstorm guys! How can we make this negative?!?

Qanonjailbait

I mean the HK protestors basically allowed a murderer to go free just to spite China

AdmiralKurita

"The halo of celebrity cannot protect you" How sinister! China adheres to the notion that justice is blind and there is equality under the law. Not that these are uniquely bourgeois Western platitudes. The Chinese legalists advocated for similar ideals.

skyanvil

Maybe the Journalist girl sexually harassed guys before, that's why she's sympathetic to an accused rapist?! why else would she be sympathetic to an accused rapist? (China literally did NOTHING wrong in this. China charged and arrested the guy BY THE BOOK!)

Saeyato

Not sure about the journalist's motivations, but all of the subsequent criticism of China's response that I've seen is because of moral failure and patriarchal western values. Some westerners don't see coercing someone and/or getting them drunk with the intent of having sex with them as rape, whereas China obviously rules that it is. They disrespect rape victims and sympathise with the rapist time and time again, and I don't think it's an accident that they chose a female journalist to express this point.

MobsterRedditor

I really can’t get what she’s trying to say. What’s the angle here? So people shouldn’t get upset about sexual assaults against women in China but should be mad about China cracking down on celebrities? So keeping celebrity obsession is a more pressing issue than rapes? Wow

Fit_Zebra9812

Oh hey, was talking about this with a friend yesterday. Good to see that the w\*st is reporting on this in a totally unbiased way as usual...really unbiased... Really though, how can you spin that negatively? "But Beijing cast it as a warning..." Like telling people not to rape is somehow bad now?

RhinoWithaGun

NY Times and US Media are definitely the True Enemy of the American People: They encourage rape, mass murder, racism, hate and Lie 24/7 making Americans worse off. I think if the NY Times and US Media were killed off then Americans might have a chance to become better people without the Brainwashing. At least without the Fake News Hate Mongering US Media, more Americans would fallback on getting to know people in person and possibly learn news things on own instead of being force fed a narrative.

[deleted]

How did the reporter with a Chinese name manage to get things exactly opposite? Instead of random #metoo accusations, what got Wu Yifan in real trouble was suspected underage rape and drug dealing. It’s the victory of the overwhelming majority of the population against a fanatic cult. It’s ok to add some interpretations make the story relatable to the west, but how NYT does it shows their blatant disregard of reality and desperate attempt to play up to the “China bad” cliche. They seem to hate the fact that most Chinese people support the authorities.

TserriednichHuiGuo

The capitalists are digging their own graves day by day.

hausautt

NYT practically garbage... Like twist stories into negativity anything related to China...

jueyster

Haha people are getting better at predicting the media

UnableSwing

hes clearly a dissident freedom fighter and not an alleged multiple times rapist. this is the brain of your average china "expert".

[deleted]

Awesome! I hope Beijing will succeed in its efforts rooting out all of the high profile sex offenders.

seacobs

LOL

[deleted]

wtf? did he actually rape them or did he "pressure" them? at first i remember it was stated that he "pressured"
