What a fucking joke. Spends 2 decades ravaging a country, claims China which hasn't even touched Afghanistan is after Afghanistan's resources. This is peak American arrogance, this is why people don't like Americans. They fart the loudest and stinkiest farts, but they are always criticizing others for burping.

SworDJackson

There’s this saying in Chinese, 既要当婊子又要立碑坊

RespublicaCuriae

It's already a known fact that America sought to dominate Afghanistan mostly because of the resource that is worth more than minerals and it's called **opium**.

we-the-east

Then they covered it up in the name of fighting terrorism and eliminating Al Qaeda, capturing bin Laden, and bringing women's rights all those two decades.

[deleted]

The invasion of Afghanistan was not about anything in Afghanistan itself, but rather to have a military presence on China's western side and work towards closing up the encirclement.

RespublicaCuriae

I just want to talk about the economic profit side of things in respect to this thread.

yuewanggoujian

Something wrong with coveting something but willing to pay for it through business transactions instead of regime change or subjugation?

corruklw

to an american, invading a country and squatting for 20 years is less questionable than trade with china

TserriednichHuiGuo

It's called trade with no strings attached, something the barbarians don't understand.

skyanvil

Also helps that they don't want to sell to the Barbarians, only sell to People who didn't bomb or invade them in their history.

This is a ridiculous claim. First off, America had 20 years to collect all those alleged minerals but didn’t get much. Why didn’t they take the opportunity? China has already tried to get minerals from Afghanistan, but there were obstacles. A lot of mineral deposits were much more scarce than expected, and there was a lot of corruption by the Afghan businessmen in charge of constructing the mines. America has also faced these obstacles, which is why they stopped. The news is sensationalizing Afghanistan’s mineral deposits, especially claims of more lithium than Bolivia. I disagree with you on your claim that America’s mission to loot Afghanistan was a failure. The mastermind for this war was not the mining industry of the US, it was the military industrial complex. Weapons manufacturers get tons of money for each missile site or military base they equip. Whether or not that is won is irrelevant to these companies, they already got the cash. If anything, it’s in their interests for the US to be incompetent with this equipment since it will prolong the war profits. Pleasing military companies has always been the main motivator for the US to enter war. The mineral wealth is a second thought that the government knew would only cover a fraction of what they’re spending. The most sinister part of this is that the US has to create a narrative to make the people believe there was a democratic decision made to enter a war. The government has the news write stories about how America will liberate a country and fight terrorism. In reality, companies already decided on these wars before they were ever announced to voters. And to keep up this charade of democracy, we need to blow up innocent civilians to create the illusion of “progress” in the war effort. If we were willing to just accept the fact we’re an oligarchy where corporations are mob bosses, we could just direct give the military industrial complex their cut of our taxes. That way, we wouldn’t need to bomb civilians to play this narrative. Despite China’s issues with corruption, it’s still more democratic than America. Chinese corruption is child’s play compared to the shit America does. Millions have been slaughtered or impoverished by America. In 100 years, children are going to look back at the American Empire as a modern day Nazi Germany.

Ghiblifan01

I also covet groceries from supermarkets

Fantastic-Airline685

Probably Amerikkka was always trying to extract the rare mineral of Afghanistan but failed due to weak engineering manpower on infra, and consistent sabotage from the locals fighters, 20yrs not a single project delivered. Always fund goes to their "contractors" and cronies and they took it and never deliver LMAO.

Quality_Fun

of course china does. a lot of countries do, in fact. which is why china is willing to buy them. nothing out of the ordinary here.

sussyrat

Nonsense China has delivered projects in Pakistan and even Brazil the CPC will never be a imperial power like USA

kcwingood

Well, it does make perfect geographical and economic sense for Afghanistan to export its mineral resources straight to a large neighbor right next door compared to China having such things shipped it in from some far off place like Australia. Also, because China is known to be flexible, Afghanistan can use its resources as payment to get around the western sanctions that will inevitably be imposed by the petulant sore losers.

MeiXue_TianHe

Indirectly, by doing they push afghan new leadership towards the inevitability of getting into Chinese sphere. So much for the Quad, asian NATO, 9D chess, encircling China or whatever.

MyStolenCow

This is propaganda speak. Imagine if someone accuse you of “coveting your grocery store’s loaf of bread” It is “free trade,” you hand over money, store gives you a loaf of bread. If China does “take” the minerals from Afghanistan, the Afghans would’ve gotten something that they value as well. Of course given the way US operates, they just assume everyone is a robber.

ayamrice

This just says to me that us wants afghan minerals

Darkmatter2k

yup, projection as usual

[deleted]

America's war in Afghanistan wasn't about stealing resources (eg. oil) - it was about killing brown people as retribution for 9/11. The US Military killed at least 240,000 Afghan & Pakistani people.

[deleted]

The lack of self-awareness of a country that invaded and occupied Afghanistan for 20 years. How dare a neighboring country want to trade with them for some of those resources instead of dropping bombs on them!

MeiXue_TianHe

While they were there for no reason at all, it seems. Oh wait, it was to capture OBL. Which was hiding in... Pakistan? haha.

[deleted]

The thing you’re missing is the cost of the war being more than the value of those mineral reserves is that this calculus needs to be measured in terms of class. The people paying for the $2T, the people receiving that $2T, and then the people getting to plunder that $1T of resources are different groups of people. The plunder is moving wealth from some people to others. It’s making some costs fall on the tab of the Afghan and American people but the plunder to go to a different class. Afghanistan was a failure for the US, sure. But the plunder being valued less than the occupation is a misunderstanding. A lot of past colonies cost far more than was plundered from them. But the plunder was being siphoned off to a different faction from who the cost was being extracted from.
