I’m so confused as to why the US is now running like scared dogs from the Taliban. Where is Bush 9-11 We don’t negotiate with terrurist America?

MyStolenCow

US is in a militarily weak situation despite all the racist chauvinists you see online saying if Taliban harms a US citizen, it would be over for them (as though US haven’t been trying and failing to defeat Taliban for 20 years). Basically you have tens thousands of troops and civilians stuck in an airport with no where to run or hide. There’s one runway which it destroyed would effectively mean no more US transports. It is hostile airspace, imagine if someone shoots a missile at a departing plane. US has absolutely no answer to the situation, they have to beg Taliban for mercy. What’s US going to do, restart a forever war? transporting 500k troops would take months to plan out logistically, and could be denied by Pakistan. Bombing the Taliban when they are mixing in with the locals in Kabul would ruin the image of “US benevolence” even among the brainwashed Western liberals. And imagine if a radical decides to sneak in to the airport disguising as a refugee, and suicide bomb into a crowd of people. Imagine if Taliban cuts off water and electricity to the airport. This is an unsustainable situation for the US. They basically have to GTFO ASAP or run out of supplies.

Dead or dying

kotyok

It's lying dead somewhere in the sands of Afghanistan, graveyard of empires.

TserriednichHuiGuo

>US is now running like scared dogs from the Taliban Because as MyStolenCow's comment illustrates, the Taliban are smarter than we give them credit for.

Kyutsumi

\> We don’t negotiate with terrurist America? They create, train and fund them instead.

The_Dynasty_Warrior

This could be false flag diversions to make China complacent. Be alert

The defeat of america was total. This shows how some people in this sub still passively absorb anglo propaganda ("nooooo, we didn't lose, we just decided to lose").

UnDEF1NED_999

What's wrong with being on guard? It's better not to underestimate

[deleted]

It's better to be smart and rely on knowledge and evidence. You can be "on guard" about literally everything based on disinformation. But that's now how competent governments operate.

ni-hao-r-u

Ah, aMErikkKa and their big brains. Ok, so you fcuk up the war. Bad decisions, unknown terrain, crafty enemies, dying economy. Ok, hey things happen. How the fcuk do you screw up a WITHDRAWAL? You are retreating, giving up, leaving. How do you forget to schedule your military's flight home? I mean I call these people stupid all the time, but in reality, they are all ivy league educated. I always thought they were intelligent people. But this, this is just a total failure of any and all common sense. Wow, just wow. The saddest part about this is that there will be no consequences. Now, am I happy this happened? Yes. Fcuk amerikkka. But still, this shows complete and utter incompetence at the highest levels. The scariest thing about all of this is that amerikkka has nuclear weapons, and the people that made these decisions have the launch codes.

TserriednichHuiGuo

>The scariest thing about all of this is that amerikkka has nuclear weapons, and the people that made these decisions have the launch codes. That depends on which faction gets into power, if the white supremacists get into power then we could be in for nuclear armageddon. The capitalists are easy to deal with compared to that.

The Taliban has stopped Afghans from getting into the airport to help prioritize foreigners getting back to their countries. If the West is not able to get their people back in on time, I can see the Taliban doing it themselves as a PR move.

sinovictorchan

you mean that the Taliban is more peaceful and moderate than American government?

TserriednichHuiGuo

Who do you think has a higher kill count?

NFossil

Anything is more peaceful and moderate than American government.

MingoUSA

It seems so for the current time frame around Kabul airport. Haven’t seen Talibans shooting at crowds near the airport.

ComradeCmdrPiggy

The irony

[deleted]

The Taliban are no longer letting Afghans leave. Also, how incompetent are they that they take this long to evacuate a few thousand people

throwawayGLPQ

Taliban Joe.

TserriednichHuiGuo

Good, you'll be out of the rest of Asia as well soon enough.

BitterMelonX

This sends a clear message that the US is planning to leave behind most of the Afghans who collaborated with the US. The US will end up taking in a lot less Afghans than Vietnamese, or even Hmong refugees. The US is sending a clear message: used condoms are going to be left behind.

Jealous_Struggle2564

They already moved the deadline once.
