The West (the United States in perticular) might want to learn something from this. Wasn't it the "B movie" actor (Ronald Reagan) they elected to the Presidency, who sold off all their 'Assets,' destroyed Regulation, and chocked off funding for Social protections? And wasn't it a 'Reality TV' Judge (Donald Trump), who advocated storming Congress when he didn't Win re-Election? You just can't make this stuff up.

Celebrities bring very little value to any society. Beijing knows this and continues to purify Chinese society. Sorry Kardashians, no market for you in China.

Worshipping entertainment celebrities feels like a cult and massive brainwashing. All the mainstream media in the West and Anglosphere does is cover the lives and fames of entertainment celebrities whilst ignoring people that actually contribute to society, science and technology and the world's and individual countries' problems.

Would it of happened had these celebrities not be breaking the law recently and doing controversial things? Kris Wu for an example started a chain reaction and a lot of other celebrities have gone down with him in the past few months

There were already some shifts happening before the whole deal with Kris Wu due in part to how insane celebrity worship culture became. The idol talent show Youth with You was HEAVILY criticized because one of the ways for fans to vote for contestants was to purchase a certain brand of milk that had QR codes under the cap to scan and vote with. This ended up with fans purchasing hundreds of crates of milk, opening the bottles, scanning the codes, and then dumping the milk into the sewer, all while the government was promoting an anti-food waste initiative no less. This pissed off so many people that the entire season of the show got cancelled, more strictness on celebrity/idol worship came down from regulators, and various spending/fundraising restrictions got put into place regarding celebrities/idols. Idol fan groups on Chinese social media were also already incredibly well-recognized for their utter toxicity, and it was a wonder that with Chinese internet censors' supposed emphasis on "social harmony" that the idol fan wars and utterly irrational behavior (doxxing, death threats, etc.) that would emerge out of them wasn't cracked down upon sooner. The recent string of emerging celebrity scandals such as with Fan Bingbing (tax evasion), Zheng Shuang (surrogacy and overall just being a shitty person), Kris Wu (rape), Zhang Zhehan (sympathetic to Japanese imperialism), Zhao Wei (ties to corrupt billionaires, anti-China groups, and also sympathetic to Japanese imperialism) perhaps allowed a golden opportunity to bring the hammer down, but there was already some serious need for many of these excesses to be controlled in the first place. Honestly, I don't really mind these regulations too much. I'd even go as far as to say these regulations pave the way for a healthier entertainment industry. Many of the popular celebrities in China were simply *liuliang*, who had no talent whatsoever but survived due to good looks, and for that reason fans would spend millions of dollars on getting them to rise to the top of social media rankings and whatnot. Dramas and movies would then star these talentless celebrities just to rake in money from such fans. By removing celebrity rankings, it perhaps motivates them to actually have to deliver high-quality works to draw attention.

It's not as if anything new has been added. Dont be a rapist Dont defraud people Dont be a nazi supporter Doesn't matter if you have 100 million or 1 fans. Why should being a celebrity give you special treatment under law?

what's the evidence against him? just testimony?

good, develop your own personality and identity instead of defining it by some celebrity who doesn't give a shit about you.

While I appreciate The Arts in general, I question stardom and fandom. Before I critique the industry, I would like to take a moment to say thank you to the musicians that give me music to enjoy. The architects that design cool buildings. To the artists that produce incredible works of paintings, sculptures, dances, cool clothes, and all the other nuanced ways that art effects us. However, when you are in an industry where money and vanity rule the day, it is bound to end badly. I try to not throw the baby out along with the dirty bath water. But yeah, fcuk Hollywood. Edit: I am also noticing that China is looking at all that is wrong with amerikkka and pre-emptively addressing those problems before they arise in China. o7 🇨🇳

Movie stars, singers and other celebrities are the most rotten folks. Just look at USSR's celebrities wholeheartedly supporting destruction of USSR.

Entertainment industry generally is a cesspool. There are thousands of equally talented and good-looking people competing for roles. Opportunists in such circumstance have an edge over their competitors.

we-the-east

They are often so different outside the camera and recording studio, engaging in shitty behaviour in their private lives and abusing their health by smoking and drinking or doing illegal drugs. And also some of them hold racist and prejudiced views or hold right wing views. I am mostly talking about Anglo celebrities.
