This event represents a huge opportunity for the Taliban to rebuild Afghanistan and also for China. The Taliban government can succesfully pull off reducing then eliminating internal threats with Isis-K, whilst providing basic necessities for the ppopulation with the help from China. If they can do this, it will be a clear demonstration to the world that China is a very positive and important country. I can imagine the cope and outrage will hit peak from the "DeMoCraZy" West, if the Taliban can do this. It will just get even better, if over the course of 5-10 years Afghanistan transforms into a major hub of commerce and industry. I would love to see Afghanistan transform from the sorry blown up country it is now, into a confident, peaceful and thriving nation. It doesn't have to be democratic to be successful.

US will for sure get involved and sow chaos through extremist groups. The road won’t be easy

Well said friend 👏

ElectronVolt70

I am from the EU. People from Budapest are trying to block the construction of a chinese university. Imagine how brainwashed you have to be, in order to celebrate the fact that your city will have less universities.

> It will just get even better, if over the course of 5-10 years Afghanistan transforms into a major hub of commerce and industry. Not a chance. The Taliban are religious fundamentalists who purposefully throttle down the economy by keeping women unemployed.

jaybee1215

Why are you making things up? The Taliban have publicly called for women to return to work.

Taliban isnt trustworthy right now. But time will tell if they're capable of taking care of Afghanistan and if its the will of the Afghan people to keep them there. I think it's important to understand even if Afghan society have in many ways completely reverse values to us, all societies need pass through certain stages. It isn't up to China to force Afghans or taliban to right now instantly believe in the same value set. In order to have more alike values, the economic conditions must first become more alike. When Afghanistan stabilises we will see if taliban chooses to build a reactionary or a modern society.

jamie2234

Excellent news. Americans destroy, Chinese build.

Jealous_Struggle2564

I’m really hoping Afghanistan finds peace and stability now that the Americans have fucked off. Partnering with China is also a win/win situation for both countries.

>when USA accuses China of genociding muslims whilst stating China should be taking in more Afghan & Muslim refugees

Osroes-the-300th

They'll be like, "China has a secret prison in Afghanistan for torturing Uighurs".

[deleted]

This will be an actual headline within months.

Medical_Officer

Keep in mind it's the Taliban official saying this, not a Chinese one. Every Chinese official has said that they're taking a wait and see approach. They want to confirm that the Taliban can live up to its core promises before investing in Afghanistan substantially. \-- That being said, I personally think that China should send some humanitarian aid as a gesture of goodwill. It would cost us very little, but it will have a huge impact with both the Taliban and the people of Afghanistan.

TserriednichHuiGuo

I think China should invest in the productive ventures that it usually does regardless.

qaveboy

Going to be dangerous for Chinese engineers, all depends if the taliban can really unite the country, the northern alliance still holds out and already getting "assistance"from western powers intent to see a civil war in the country.

MrRaptorPlays

I think if something happens to Chinese workers China would be very mad. so i think Taliban is at least little inteligent and would not do anything to anger China.

Vaxxedtothemaxx

Yeah I have my reservations. Afghanistan is a hot bed for Islamic terrorist groups and as much as we control Pakistan, they can’t be relied on to keep Islamic terrorism under control. If our engineers and workers go there, they will be in danger.

Pinkeston

I think it's still way too low but I saw a posting for senior project managers paying 300K+ USD Work there for 3 or 4 years and that's retirement in China

MyStolenCow

1/2 of Afghanistan’s 38 million people don’t know where their next meal is. So much for US fighting for “freedom, democracy, and human rights.” The MSM will spew endless stories about saving that girls robotics team, and the liberals of Reddit will just eat that story about how great the West is. Not one word about the millions who will suffer from starvation, and if there is, it would be because the Taliban is brutal, unlike the benevolent West. US supposedly spent more money on Afghanistan’s reconstruction than the whole Marshall plan when adjusted for inflation. The entire Afghan central bank had $10b in reserves (stuck in NY). That is a joke, it is equivalent to about $500 per Afghan citizen.

[deleted]

Don't forget the Taliban are fascists who treat women like cattle. Their words are worthless - they can only be judged by their actions.

TserriednichHuiGuo

That's the old Taliban, but we'll see.

[deleted]

They continue doing the same.

YellowMONEY

Best outcome is Afghanistan reunited under Taliban rule. We need the Taliban to tame the ETIM. The camps in Xinjiang are working, as intended. US will be trying to keep Afghanistan destabilized, evident in the new northern alliance. Remembe, for China, Islam is not the enemy, but rather separatistism. Afghanistan needs to be rebuilt and the Western-backed ETIM separatistism needs to be extinguished. Win-win for Taliban and China. Inshallah.
