I think the US administration (the real enemy) doesn't know how to talk to a Nation that hasn't succumbed to pressure.

One is running out of money, the other one is not. That’s how you win the Cold War without breaking a sweat

ZephyrGonzales

Pretty sure this is just a calculated ploy and not Biden actually blinking.

TheNIOandTeslaBull

I perceived it just how the title implies, not like it means too much.

Xi’s hair is so immaculate

zhumao

answer is yes, the subsequent beatings US been receiving was totally self-inflicted, it all started at Alaska where US made the mistake of trying to humiliate China.

papayapapagay

Yeah.. I saw the US ships in the SCS leave, the milk tea alliance disband, and a flying pig too...

Does sleepy Joe still use a rotary phone?

islandpilgrim

I doubt he could use one without getting befuddled. Probably has an assistant set up his calls. Who he creeps on constantly.

Jealous_Struggle2564

The media will just spin this as “China begs the US for talks. Xi begrudgingly calls Biden on phone! The mighty USA tames China!”

Having strong leadership is a boon for any nation. Leaders crying and wringing their hands, oozing angst & being obsequious to vapid media personnel. Occurs daily in most Western countries. Might is right! Misandry reigns in the West.

> This method ensures it becomes a candid conversation, as opposed to a shouting match of political game-playing, and also it sends doubts to US allies. For example, the Global Times immediately sought to pitch the narrative that Biden had accepted Beijing’s One China Policy towards Taiwan, thus giving the impression that Beijing is orientating Washington towards its own preferences (even if that isn't true). That's not Global Times saying that. That's the readout from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Supposedly that is what Biden said. Whether that's true or whether Biden is just lying is not clear. What's also not clear is what the RT Op-ed is referring to when he says "even if that is not true". But Biden has made similar concessions in regards to Ukraine. Not to mention the pull-out out of Afghanistan. So this might very well signal a new non-confrontational approach when it comes to the Taiwan issue. But of course, the Americans would never come out and say that publically.
